Chapter 13 - I Don’t Like Dust

Waiting on Hazal, I explore a bit. I wander of the kitchen table and up to the fridge, covered in dust... ugh. Hazal's Mother sees me quite easily, as most of my body is hanging of the fridge.

"You better wash that of before you go."

I stretch my neck out and off the fridge, hanging it the air, not far from her face and open my mouth, showing my fangs.

"Something to say Nope Rope?"

Nope Rope?

She reaches her hand out to my face and points her finger at me.

"If you pump anything into me I'll use you as a rope."

I place my fangs on her finger without piercing the skin.

{This form has no venom.}

"This form? You have others?"

{Get me a-}

She moves her hand before I can finish.

"Why'd you stop.. thinking?"

I leave my mouth in the same position and flick my tongue at her.

Taking a second, she puts her finger back.

{It's either I ingest your blood, or you keep in contact with my fangs to convey thoughts}

"Ah. I don't get it but I'll except it."

{The mother has wisdom.}

With an inquisitive gaze, she says, "Well that's an interesting compliment."

{Get a damp rag}

Walking to the sink she advises, "That's a 'Please get me a damp rag'."

To plead for a rag? I don't understand it.

She hands me the freshly wet rag as I bite down on it and bring it above the fridge and move in circles to wipe the surface.

I hear an astounded, "Oh my god, she even does chores!"

Since I intend to use this as a base, I'd best clean all the spots that I'm going to use, so I slither above the cupboards and wipe most the dust away, turning a previously white rag to a dark gray. I stick my neck out towards the mother with the rag in my mouth. Luckily she understands my gesture and takes the rag from me.

Smiling as she rinses the rag out in the sink, I shift into a Gliding Snake and jump off the cupboards, and turn in circles to make an elegant descent. Unfortunately, the mother heard the small sound I made coming in contact with the floor and turned to see me.

She pauses before asking, "Now does that form have venom?"

As Gliding snakes are more capable climbers, I use this form to crawl up the cabinet and into the sink, then turn around, look at the mother and dip my head.

"Oh. What type of snake is it?"

Not as startled as I thought she'd be, I shift back to a Mexican King to convey the name of the species.
