The boy looked up in shock and immediately stood up embarrassed. He seemed shy but mysterious. As we stood there awkwardly quiet for longer than what was appropriate for non-awkward human interactions I said, "Hello, I am Everly. I believe you are the boy who wrote this note." I gave him the note and he lightly took it from my hands. As he looked over it he smiled. "Everly," He said in a slight whisper. He look at my eyes and then looked down at the bush and back at me. "Eugene Stanton. It's nice to meet you, Everly," He said with a shied expression. "If you don't mind me asking, who were you talking to in that bush?" Eugene looked at the bush, then at me and he softly laughed. "Oh," he said, "Hah, Funny you should ask. I uh was giving food to a stray cat. Come, look!" I followed him towards the bush and heard a slight Russell in the bush, then I saw a tiny head poke out and born from the bush was a small kitten. "She was abandoned about a week ago and I've been taking care of her. Luckily we have milk in the bakery that I've been sneaking out to her," Eugene said. "So you've just been feeding this small kitten all by yourself?" I asked. "Yeah." He said blankly. Then he said, "I call her may, because I saw her on the first day of May." I stood up and asked him, "Do you just leave her here?" He looked at me surprised and said, "My landlord doesn't allow cats and I don't know anyone who'd take her." "I would," I replied not thinking about how broke I was. "Really?" He asked shocked, "that would be so great!" I smiled awkwardly remembering that I have no place to go except home, and I could not go home. I didn't know what I was going to do. I just told this boy I'd take care of a kitten having no money and no home besides the one where no one welcomes you kindly. Eugene saw how my expression changed into worry and I quickly changed into a smile and looked at him. I realized Eugene was really really handsome, and he had beautiful eyes and hair that could fit a prince. Above all I saw that he was kind hearted and Would probably help someone in need, like me. He saw me starring at him and walked towards me. "I've never seen you around before," he said, "Have you moved here or just a visitor?" "Oh I.." I didn't know quite how to answer that question so I changed the subject and asked him, "Oh do you work at this bakery?" "Yeah, well as a part time job," He said. He noticed I was playing with my hair as I was worrying off into space. He took my hand away from my hair and asked, "are you okay?" How would I get away from a situation that would lead me into telling him I have no place to go?
