Chapter 41 - The Girl

While looking through the peephole in the top of the door, Chen Tunshi noticed that it was a girl's silhouette that looked oddly familiar. He then remembered that it was the girl from the newspaper stand that he politely assisted in opening the cover for.

"What is she doing here?" he asked himself in a doubtful manner.

"Might as well check and see"

After that thought he opened the door to the familiar face of the first day back on earth only to see her looking anxious and scared.

After he open the door, she rushed in quick, pushing him out of the way after closing the door shut and locking it without him being able to speak a word to her.

She ran to the windows and proceeded to lock them and close the curtains tight together.

There were two windows that looked out into the small city and was quite a landscape when exposed to the rising sun over the horizon.

She locked the windows in a hurry and then sat down on bed and attempted to calm her nerves down as she looked like she was very close to hyperventilating. Noticing that her face was slightly pale, he gave her a paper bag to breathe into.

After about five minutes of the sounds of her heavy breathing and him typing on his computer, she finally decided to see whose room she had entered as she had rushed to lock the windows and didn't look at him clearly.

She noticed to her shock that he was the same guy from the other day that had assisted her but she hadn't really been paying attention to his features.

She only just now took a good look at him and realized that he had a natural charm flowing about him and wasn't interested in anything around him, which gave him the aloof personality She noticed that he was typing away on his computer at fast speeds.

She leaned forward to try and peek at the screen only to see it closing as he had sensed her prying eyes.

He turned the chair to face her and only then did she notice the complexion of his face was enviable even by her.

Chen Tunshi knew the affect that he had on women after cultivating but just ignored it as he didn't have the time as there are bigger fish to fry and higher mountains to climb.

Although he had enough power to combat a normal adult gangster, but what about the so-called martial artists out there. He would be like carp on a chopping block out there in the real world, much less the modern weapons, even the cold war weapons would hurt him considerably if not kill that clone of him.

So he needed to rank up cultivation stages at the most stable and fastest way. Even though he could advance at considerable speeds, the foundation was the building block of cultivation so rushing it would only harm him in the long run and not support him. So, he needed to do it at a fast but monitored pace which is why he hadn't cultivated in a bit was to allow his foundation to stabalize while the Void Essence was building it up at a slow rate.

When his foundation gets to the perfect stage then he would try and rank up by absorbing the Void Essence and refining his body and Qi Sea. His Qi sea was still unstable but couldn't be injured by a human's punch. That's not to say a martial artist couldn't injure it, but it would be a bit more difficult as the Qi Sea was condensed from the Void Essence and is harder than a normal Qi Sea even if it's cracked and unstable.

"What are you doing here?" he asked.

That question seemed to put her nerves at rest a bit and she calmed down enough to organize what had happened 20 minutes ago.

"It's like this...."

She then proceeded to tell him that she was walking on her way back from the store when out of nowhere she was attacked by a random stranger that she had never met before today. He was going to attack her but wasn't able to as she used to run track or something and then proceeded to get away.

He then chased her for about 15 minutes, only to lose her in a large group of people. She then proceeded to take residency in one of the more inconspicuous rooms of the hotel which miraculously was mine. Believing it to be fate she decided to trust me enough to tell me this much.

"What did he look like?"

"I couldn't quite catch his facial features but the fact that he had a spider tattoo on the right side of his face." She said after calming down.

"It's most likely to be a gang related sign, probably an insignia that the members receive whenever joining them or whenever they achieve certain merits" he thought.
