Chapter 88 - Chapter 5: Deal(part-1)

The news quickly spread like a wildfire.

Marquis Cyric's residence was attacked by assassins, every single one of the guards was killed including the servants, none were spared.

But miraculously the Marchioness and their Eldest son were unharmed, it was obvious that the target of the assassins was the Marquis's family, the timing of their attack matched perfectly with the departure of the count.

The news traveled fast and managed to reach Marquis Cyric who have not even left for a day when Cyric heard about the news it was like thunder to his ears, not caring about the carriage he directly rode on one of the horses and made a quick trip back, next day afternoon in half the time he managed to come back to the capital.

With his butler following behind him, Marquis Cyric pushed open the front door as a floor littered with blood entered his vision.

"M-master", Aa young servant who was cleaning the bodies littered across the floor quickly rushed forward to greet him.

"Bring me to the Marchioness!"

The servant shivered when the almost shouting voice reached his ears, he could see the pure rage burning inside Marquis's eyes as if ready to engulf him whole.

"P-please follow me sir", The servant shuttered as he hurriedly took the Marquis to the first floor.

Without waiting for the servant to knock on the door, Cyric directly pushed inside and shouted.

"Alina!"

"Cyric how are you back so soon?"

Before she could finish Marquis Cyric quickly rushed forward and pulled her in a tight hug.

"W-what C-cyric we have guests!"

"I'm so glad you're fine"

Alina stopped struggling when she heard the shaking voice, feeling the strong around holding her tears also formed at the corners of her eyes as she also started sobbing, last night was really too much for her.

"I-I thought we will never see each other again...'

"I'm sorry...I'm sorry I will never leave you alone again."

Meanwhile, Grant was staring at the scene with a long look on his face.

'So no one cares about me?'

He rolled his eyes when he saw the couple hugging and comforting each other without a care in the world.

'I wonder how he must be feeling', Grant thought as he turned his head and looked at the dignified-looking middle-aged man in shining silver armor sitting right beside him.

Slowly the middle-aged man put down the teacup in his hand and raised his hand coughing lightly bringing the couple back to reality.

Before the Marquis could ask who he was, the middle-aged man gave a respectful bow and introduced himself.

"Greetings Marquis Cyric, I am Landerear the head of the Queen's personal guards.

Cyric's eyebrows furrowed slightly when he heard 'Queen's head guard.

"What business does the head guard has in my mansion.", Cyric said as he faced Landerear with a suspicious gaze.

Although his residence was attacked, the Queen's personal guards were not the ones responsible for public safety neither. Plus in the past years, the Queen's behavior has been abnormal, to say the least.

Thinking that the Queen might have something to do with the assassins, Cyric's eyes turned cold.

Pretending to not see the Marquis's unfriendly gaze, Landerear said.

"The Queen has requested your audience Marquis Cyric"

Cyric frowned, it was most definitely related to the assassins, without a second thought, he agreed.

"Let us depart then sir Lander----"

But before Cyric could say anything more, Landerear interrupted him.

"Please bring the young master Grant with us"

A silence enveloped the room.

Even Grant raised his eyebrow, he clearly felt that the middle-aged man addressed him in a more respectful tone than he did to the marquis.

Actually looking closely he could see small stars in the middle-aged man's eyes as he looked at him.

Sorry, I don't swing that way...

----------------

'What is this situation....', The corners of Grant's mouth twitched as he felt the soft feeling against his body.

Currently, he was being held by the Queen of Gritonia Empire, Maria who suddenly assaulted him with her giant boobs without any warning when he was about to give a greeting according to the noble manners he learned in his past time.

'It's a bit suffocating....'

A pair of hands suddenly pulled Grant away from the Queen's embrace.

"Your majesty you're hurting him", Aline said as she quickly took Grant away from the Queen and hugged him while looking at the Queen with slightly vigilant eyes.

'You're also hurting me', Grant retorted in his mind as he used his hands to push away Aline's chest, making space for him to breadth.

"Your majesty can you please explain why you have called us here?", marquis Cyric took a step forward and faced the Queen with a dignified look on his face not having anything to say about what just happened.

"Ah I am sorry for my misconduct earlier Marquis Cyric it's just that the child is just so lovely....", Maria said as she smiled towards Grant.

"I hope you won't hold it against me."

"Not at all, your majesty."

"Well as for I called you here.....", Maria's words trailed off as she stared at the ceiling above.

Marquis Cyric raised his eyebrow but decided to not interrupt.

Suddenly Maria lowered her head again and said in a dignified voice.

"It is her will"

Silence enveloped the entire room, an expression of shock appeared on everyone's face when they heard what the queen said.

Because they all instantly understood what she meant.

It's the Goddesses will!

Meanwhile, Grant was also staring at the ceiling with a serious face.

'The ceiling is alive?'

Grant started worrying about the future of the empire as he saw the revering look in the queen's eyes.

-------------------------

It didn't take long for Grant to understand what they meant.

A giant statue of a woman with a group of priests gathered around it, constantly muttering some sort of prayer with closed eyes.

Grant was also curiously looking at the face of the statue, he could even see some sort of white light surrounding the statue giving it a holy vibe.

"I should take it from here", Maria said as she turned towards Aline and raised her hands to take Grant from her arms.

Aline felt reluctant, for some reason she was reluctant to let go of Grant right now than ever before. Although she loved her baby boy dearly, but right now the feelings were more intense than they were before.

Still knowing that it was the Goddess's will she slowly handed Grant to Maria who carefully took him in her arms and started walking towards the statue.

The sense of anxiety in Aline's heart grew bigger as she reached out her hand towards the Queen's back but decided to hold herself back at the last moment.

'For some reason....', Grant thought as he stared at the statue's face while raising his eyebrow.

'That face looks a bit familiar.....'

Ever since Grant was born in this new body, he noticed a peculiarity, that is his memory is incomparably better than it was before.

After reading something just once he was able to perfectly remember it word by word, it was as if that memory would be printed in his head, he wouldn't be able to forget it even if he wanted to.

'Although for some reason I am still unable to remember my name from the previous worlds as well as some of my skills...'

This discovery was even more shocking than his photographic memory.

He felt as if something was blocking him from remembering those specific details.

While Grant was stuck in his own thoughts, Maria finally arrived before the statue and said in a dignified.

"Goddess as you've instructed, I have brought the hero, the one you send down to save the Empire from those despicable demons."

'Wait what?'

Before Grant could say anything, Maria lifted him above her head.

Suddenly the Goddess's statue started glowing as an ethereal voice rang out in everyone's ears, shocking them.

"You have done well my servant"

Then without any warning, Grant suddenly disappeared from Maria's hands.

"Grant!", Aline shouted in an anxious voice as she was about to rush towards the spot where Grant disappeared but was held back by the Marquis.

Feeling her husband holding onto her, Aline bit down on her lips as she stared at the sky above.
