Chapter 7 - Bright as a sunflower

"Oh, Kazuyuki tending to your flowers again?" Mr. Ayzawa smiled as the young man walked over to the two with a gentle honey smile. Stepping out from the backroom Kazuyuki walked in carrying a new bouquet of freshly picked flowers.

Kazuyuki was known as a popular young man in his mid twenties. All the ladies in the neighborhood called him the charming flower prince.

His long ash blonde hair was pulled back in a loose pony tail as his bangs framed his almost delicate face. His warm hazel eyes sparked like a warm flame. Tugging those around him close. With a tall delicate appearance anyone would confuse him for a woman from afar. His appearance matching that of a prince sporting a white turtle neck sweater with a brown apron over it. Even his hands that carried the flowers were delicate looking.

"Brother." Briar greeted him with a shy smile, it had been a few months since she had left the hospital. It was only with Kazuyuki's care and kindness that she opened up more to him and those in the neighborhood. To keep matters of her accident private and give her a fresh start Kazuyuki went ahead placing her under his family registry. While the neighbors believed that she was blood related to him. After losing their parents Briar who had poor health had been placed under the care of someone else until Kazuyuki was able to look after her. During these months the bond between the two grew so close no one would question the love between the two siblings. Briar was seen as the young caring sister while Kazuyuki was the doting older brother.

"Did you sleep well?" Kazuyuki questioned her as he patted her on the top of her head. With a smile she nodded her head shyly placing her hands behind her back.

"Ah these two." Mr. Ayzawa grumbled under his breath with a shake of his head. The smile still present on his face.

"Kazuyuki!"

Mr. Ayzawa yelled slamming his hands on the table as he pointed his finger at him. With slightly wide eyes Kazuyuki turned to the man with a calm expression.

"Yes?"

"You shouldn't leave your sister out here on her own! Even if your out in the greenhouse its still dangerous leaving a young lady such as herself to tend to a store on her own!"

"I'm sorry, Mr. Ayzawa." Kazuyuki chuckled with a light smile.

"I'd never do anything to endanger my little sister, after all she still too young be out on her own." With a small smile he patting her on the head like a child. Feeling the warmth of his hand Briar looked up with a bright smile.

"Can you please put these in water for me?"

"Sure." With a grateful expression Kazuyuki handed her the freshly picked flowers before turning to chat with Mr. Ayzawa.

"Your little sister seems to be doing much better." Mr. Ayzawa muttered eyeing the girl as she hummed herself working. Taking a seat Kazuyuki smiled glancing at her from corner of his eyes.

"Yes." Chuckling at the brother's happy expression Mr. Ayzawa sighed in content recalling the frightened expression on the girl's face when they had first met. She had been watering the flowers that day he had walked in. The young girl's face filled with panic when he had questioned who she was before running away like a frightened rabbit. It was moments later when in confusion he watched Kazuyuki walked in to the shop from the back room with the young girl standing behind him. One hand clenched to the back of his shirt as she peeked from behind him. Slowly he had watched the young girl emerge from the safety of her brother's back.

Growing as bright as a sunflower and beautiful like a rose.

A bright spirit they wished would keep on smiling brightly.
