The shattering of the dome brought about another shockwave, destroying many home's windows.
Luckily, the explosion of the orb was deflected, but just as everyone relaxed, their expressions changed once again.
Falling from the sky was the very shattered dome, each piece as sturdy as steel and as sharp as a blade. Worse yet, each share was several stories in height and when they dropped, they directly destroyed the buildings they fell on.
Unfortunately, everyone within the diameter of the reinforced dome was basically at risk of getting themselves and or their homes crushed. This was, I guess, fortunate for those outside of that, which was the majority of the city as the normal dome simply dissolved in the air.
And yet, just as everyone was shocked by the outcome, they saw something that made them deathly pale—the storm was moving again!
However, after a few seconds, everyone came to realize that the spirit storm was currently moving out of the city's center, without initiating another attack.
For a few minutes afterwards, everyone couldn't take their eyes off the storm as it moved above the city, for fear of another strike. Finally, it left the city's territory entirely, continuing drifting southward. It also seemed to have spent quite a bit of energy as well as it was only about three quarters its original size as when it first arrived.
…
Soon, everyone woke up as they saw dust and rubble slowly fall from the air, coming out of their homes in droves.
Even the group went outside out of curiosity, but they were interrupted before they could do anything else.
A servant who was sweating all over came over to Queenie with hesitation and knelt before speaking:
"Mistress, the Lord h-he…"
The servant trailed off his speech into incoherent mumbling, unable to finish what he was trying to say. From this, Queenie knew that something wasn't right; didn't her father take action against the storm? What if something happened to him?
Immediately now anxious, she forcefully pulled the servant up and directed them to lead her to her father.
When they got there, they quickly realized that this was the palace's infirmary. After entering, they immediately saw a few scouts and other kinds of servants resting from their injuries in beds. But currently, no one was attending them as they were all crowded around a specific bed.
Queenie rushed to the bed and pushed aside all the attendants in her way, allowing her to see the state he was in.
While he had no external or internal injuries, which attested to the dome's effectiveness, around him was an almost deathly aura as he had his eyes tightly closed. Or perhaps a lifeless aura would be more accurate. And feeling this aura surrounding him, Queenie almost broke down right there. As of now, her father was her only family left, and she wouldn't be able to endure another person leaving her life so quickly again.
After a moment of investigating the Lord's body, a servant spoke to Queenie:
"Mistress, the Lord's soul core is both extremely dim and almost completely empty. These are both signs of extreme loss of consciousness and energy reserves. Currently, the Lord is in a coma, but he should wake up within a week's time as his soul recuperates itself."
Queenie sighed in relief, hearing the servant's words.
"So you're saying he'll be fine?"
The servant smiled and nodded, saying, "he should be able to make a full recovery after waking up."
Queenie smiled too as she held her father's hand. The attendants left, giving Queenie and the group a few minutes of silence.
After this, Queenie inhaled and exhaled heavily before releasing her hand and straightening her body. She then smiled as she turned to the group.
"Thanks for coming with me guys, but right now, my father needs to rest in peace. Why don't we go ahead and eat breakfast?"
The group, in response, looked at each other. The first to respond was Ran of course.
"I don't know about you guys, but I'm just going to skip breakfast. If I go outside now, there might be some people I can save."
Indeed, as long as the people who were crushed by the shards of the dome weren't infected with the soul juice, he could remove all the kinetic energy and reverse their wounds.
For a moment after saying this, there was silence, which made Ran a little uncomfortable. After another second or two, everyone busted out laughing.
Even Bob, who was usually more quiet than the rest, slapped his knee before patting Ran's shoulder.
"How-pfft-noble of you, brother; count me in."
Instead of slapping her knee, Ann ended up slapping Ran's other shoulder, which almost sent him tumbling to the ground.
"Ah, see, that's our little Holiness! You must be really trying to live up to the 'holy' part huh?"
As Ann mocked him, Ran was more confused than anyone else here. Why were they laughing at him? Was he not just acting genuine? If he had the chance to save lives, then why would he waste that time eating a fancy breakfast like any other day?
Was this not a normal course of action?
Finally, when they noticed him being uncomfortable, they stopped.
Ann wiped a tear from her eye as she apologized.
"Ah, sorry sorry, we're not laughing at you, right guys?"
Everyone nodded innocently.
"We're just laughing at the fact we ever thought we could get away with food on your watch. To be honest, you're very predictable."
Ran was still confused, but as long as they weren't laughing at him anymore, he began to feel better.
