Grabbing her husband's large hand, she led him out of the cute cottage and down the flattened pathway. She smiled at the flowers, she always smiled at things she found delightful. It was another aspect of her that Richard loved. A look of excitement filled her eyes like a oil spreading across the surface of water. A look Richard knew well, she was up to mischief after only two hours of them entering a new town.
"Richard, do you see that old man sleeping? Do you think we could jump over him? I think we could, but he can't know or wake up. Wanna bet whether we can or not? Ten coins?" She pulled his sleeve in excitement as she spoke, it was the fourth bet today. The first, that she could run to the town of Ferdinand in forty minutes, he won (she finished it in thirty-two minutes, as he had bet to the precise number). Second, that they would be approached by the small Asian girl, she won. Third, that they would buy a house before the day ended, she won. She was ten silvers richer currently, and it was his turn to win.
"I'll take you on Fi, but don't cry when you lose. You couldn't make it over the man without waking him up, and I'll raise you to twenty silvers." His eyes had a twinge of evil emanated off them to compliment hers which were brimming with mischief. She grinned, He's taken the bait, she thought with a smirk.
"Have fun losing hubby!" She whispered faintly into his ear before running, placing her foot onto a small crevice on the fence on the left side of the sleeping man and using it to boost her into the air. Then she flipped over the man and landed on her feet without a thud by swerving them with a hand on the ground to support her weight and decrease the sound, only dust flew slightly. She turned to see Richard's face drop into darkness as he realised his loss, he was thirty silvers poorer than her as they had started the day with the same amount of money.
He sighed sadly and dropped the coins into her space ring as she chortled at him cockily, her eyes glowing with greed as she stared at the money, one would refuse to believe she was once the richest woman in the continent looking at her face right now.
"Thank's Richy Rich... Dick." She chuckled notoriously before speeding away to get away from her angry husband before he could catch her. She could feel him catching up, he was stronger than him as he was a man, only a few years they were evenly matched. She reminisced with a soapy smile on her face without realising she was still ahead of him while running in heels and a large, heavy dress.
Richard, while fuming with anger, still noticed this and was astounded at how strong this woman was, even if she had been training for the same time as him, she still managed to beat him. Even if biology was supposed to be against her, she was stronger than the strongest man on the continent. It was true that the Goddess had blessed her since birth, but wasn't this a bit too unfair? He had truly married the best woman in the world, she was literally blessed by the Goddess; to be fair, so was he, but to him that didn't matter.
"Fiona stop! We've talked about this before, do not call me Dick. It's stupid, and it doesn't suit the mouth of a lady. FI! I said stop!" His rage was fuelled by her stopping on top of a hill, sticking out her tongue and pulling down her eye before grabbing a conveniently placed bark and sledging down the hill. Only Fi would think that far under such pressure, he thought lovingly while shouting profanities at the woman he was thinking this about.
"Dick! This is so much funnnn!" she squealed as she slid down the hill, but Richard realised he was wrong, she wasn't sledging, she was skating and had used the bark as a board, this ways her dress remained clean. Once again Richard was impressed as he stared at her with anger and unending love.
"DON'T. CALL. ME. DICK!" was all Fi heard behind her as her giggles filled the air, the wind felt comforting behind her and her hair free. No one was around except for the sleeping man, who was their only neighbour, so they were free to act as they usually did. As kids their mischief was always caught by their mothers, and both were told off frequently, but this never stopped them. They were forces of nature, blessed by the Goddess, even if they were told off, they were placed on such a pedestal that it didn't matter to them. Call it entitlement, but it was deserved, they needed something human to separate them from the Goddess.
After she stopped and apologised for the umpteenth time for the same 'mistake' and before he could say anything she dragged him to the town. The second they caught a glimpse of another person they dropped their true personas and became quieter, nobler, and gave off their superior auras. Kita saw the curious couple once again and decided to approach them, this was after Fi had elbowed her husband in the side and whispered the number two in his ear with a price. He nodded and surely two minutes later Kita approached them with a huge grin on her face.
Fi: forty coins
Richy: negative forty coins
What a fruitful day, thought Fi.
Kita, after learning they wanted furniture, took them to Hungry Howard's Furniture shop, where they were greeted by a small chocolate skinned boy. His hair, which contrasted his skin beautifully, was curly and the lightest shade strawberry blonde. "Hello sir and ma'am, I'm Howie Jr, how can I help you?" His large eyes blinked, touching the hearts around him with his astounding cuteness. Fi thought quietly that Richy was right, little kids really are the most innocent and cute beings when outside the walls of a palace.
Richard was losing his sh*t. He was a rare case of a man with a prominent Mama Bear Instinct, so upon seeing this tiny child his heart was bloated with love. He whispered very subtly into Fi's ear, "If I kidnap him now, we could run and get into the next town and buy a house their before the day ends." he looked around, ready to run when Fi grabbed his arm. Her next words made his face turn crimson in mere seconds.
"Let's make our own instead, tonight..." He nodded and turned to the child.
"Do you sell beds, Howie Jr? I need one immediately delivered with a mattress and covers. We'll buy the covers and a quilt, but the rest I need immediately." Howie Jr led them into the store and presented a King Bed made of mahogany, carvings of flowers and animals on the headboard, tall posts on each side and a thick mattress on it. The couple glanced at each other, both knowing how to play. They simply nodded and were taken around the shop, that was the only bed that stood out.
"Howie Jr, how much does the mahogany bed cost, we're only truly interested in that one." Fi pursed her lips, looking like she was truly debating the purchase depending on the price. Howie Jr, though young, knew how business worked. But he didn't yet know the power of a pretty face and a pitiful look, so he truly believed her.
"It's ten gold pieces, but for you two I'll give it a ten percent discount, so it will cost only nine gold!" He stumbled on the price, for any less would mean a loss for him, the bed was one of his father's best creations and was made of very expensive wood and the carvings and creation had taken a full eight months.
Richard smiled and gave him the money for the bed and the mattress which amounted to nine gold and eighty silvers. Immediately he organised the delivery of the bed and then they moved to the dining table.
"We want something simple, nothing fancy but it should match the bed in colour as well as the rest of the cottage. The full house has the same wooden feel so we'd like to carry that on." Richy said, he was good at designing his home and knew what aesthetic he wanted the house to have.
Suddenly his eye caught a table hidden in a corner, it could fit six people, and had matching chairs surrounding it. It had exquisite carpentry on it's legs and edges and was made of mahogany too. He sat on a chair belonging to the set and the pillow on it was surprisingly comfy, almost making him moan from comfort. He made quick eye contact with his wife and nodded ever so slightly so that she could begin the bargain again.
By the end of the shopping trip, they had managed to purchase everything on a discount and had completed their furniture shopping completely. Two wardrobes, a table for dining with chairs, one for outdoors with chairs, two complimentary lounges and a wonderful bed to make babies on. They were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the furniture at Hungry Howard's and by the adorable customer service. It was comparable to their furniture in the palace, which was made by some of the best carpenters in the continent.
"Fi, let's go eat dinner so that we can go home and exercise okay?" Richard breathed huskily into ear as they blushed with her cheeks. She nodded coyly as they left with Kita to find a nice restaurant to treat themselves and her.
