Chapter 3 - Lonely Child

Kita was in awe at the efficiency that this couple went by, they were completely in sync with each other to the point that they while one was buying the other would bargain after a single glance. Usually, Howie Jr wouldn't drop his prices but even he was too astounded by the ethereal beauty of Fiona and the sincerity of her tone.

"Kita, where is your favourite restaurant in this town?" Asked Fiona, her eyes filled with gratitude for this kind child. Kita blushed unnaturally, shocked that she was bending the other way due to this otherworldly woman. She led them to a quaint house with a board outside saying 'Le Pain' (The Bread) while holding Richard's large, warm and surprisingly soft hand in her tiny hand and Fiona's skinnier, more petite and equally soft hand in the other.

She smiled at the couple as they found a table for three, people greeted young Kita as it was good for business if they were kind to this ankle-biter. Kita had a very good reputation in the town, she always managed to take the rich people around the city, it was a surprising skill she had.

Thus, all the entrepreneurs decidedly chose to worship her existence as if she brought people to their shops they were guaranteed to have a good month of sales. It also meant that no one dared look down on Kita or even talk to her rudely, her elders showered her with love and the other children were forced to act nicely towards her.

"Isn't it lonely?" Fiona suddenly asked, as Kita told them why people were so respectful of her, Richard nodded, asking the same question. Kita looked at the wonderful lady as she cocked her head to the side and raised a hand to scratch her neck, as her dad did too, out of nervousness. She had never been asked such a thing, usually people would pat her on the back and praise her, but no one really cared what she thought. Not even Papa or Mama Kim.

"Well, yes. I don't really have any friends and I'm already twelve years old, everyone my age resents me a decent amount in our town." She felt the warmth of Richard's hand over her tiny fingers as he squeezed them slightly and began talking.

"I know how that feels, I was a bit of an over-achiever so I didn't have any friends until I met Fi. She's probably the most over-powered person in the entire kingdom, when I met her I was sitting in an alley crying because I'd been ditched by my 'friends' again during hide-and-seek. She," He chuckled with nostalgia glowing on his diamond eyes, "she laughed at me and said, 'Why are you crying you baby?' and that was the first time anyone had ever talked to me like that.

"I glared at her and asked, 'Do you know who I am? Who are you to talk to me?' I was a defensive little munchkin.

"She smirked at me, grabbed me by the collar and snarled, 'I don't give a damn who you are pipsqueak, I'm the most powerful person in the kingdom.' and mind you, she was and still is.

I was astounded, I was supposed to be the most powerful in the kingdom, who was this random girl? She challenged me to a duel almost immediately after and beat me in what? Three seconds? But I finally had someone who wasn't in awe of me, or jealous of me, so I was happy. Who knows when she fell in love, that was when I fell for her. When she beat me three seconds into a match and smiled at me."

Kita looked at the odd couple as they stared at each other lovingly and wondered if she could find someone who would love her like that. Someone that was her equal, someone who loved her as much as these two people loved each other. "Wait, when did you two get married?" They seemed like they had been married for years, but barely looked like adults.

"Three months and twenty-three days, we got married on the most beautiful day. It was just like I had told him when we were fourteen, the exact date, the sun position, everything. He made it the most perfect wedding. But we were separated for two months after and then tried to force him into divorce so I had to abduct him, get the marriage blessing, and we ran to farthest town we could." Fiona stroked his hand as she explained their situation, she said 'marriage blessing' quite softly as only Royals got blessed marriages. As much as they liked Kita, trust was too precious to give to a child they had just met.

Kita nodded and didn't hear the last part well, but she didn't push the topic as their PDA was a bit overwhelming for her. Once their food came she noticed their perfect table mannerisms and postures and assumed they were nobles. She also noticed the huge appetite of the couple, both finished twice the amount she did in half the time and were still hungry. How cute, she thought.

"How do you two plan on making a living in Ferdinand? We have almost everything the city has here, so I don't know how you could sustain a future here." Kita wanted them to stay so she wracked her brain for somewhere they could work, but before she could thing of anything Fiona spoke up.

Fi was good at business, she had to be as she was supposed rule to the entire Kingdom once, so she was taught all such things so that she could understand the situations of all the types of people in her kingdom. And she was especially good at business, which was why before she was fourteen she was the richest person in the kingdom, she still was. The money was sent into her space ring through magic and for her business she used shadows to run things behind the scenes and could run things simply whilst sleeping.

"We don't need money, but Richy you should at least pretend to get a job. Ooh, we should open a small restaurant, I can be the cute waitress and you can be the hot chef." She winked at him as he raised an eyebrow at her. More money was never bad.
