I Wish You Didn't Love Me
- My Side-
For the first time in a long time, I felt a warm feeling inside me. I was intoxicated by it as it overtook every part of me. I know what comes with those feelings. And I couldn't feel more excited. Wake up.
"Look who's finally awake," I looked over at my friend who was standing in the kitchen staring at me. I looked around. I'm in the living room?
"Why am I here and not in my room?" I said confused.
"You came home really late and just fell asleep there I guess. I swear I thought you died," I got up and stretched before I went over to my friend Damion. I'd been staying at his place for some time now after some complications with my last roommate.
"You didn't think about carrying me to my bed? My back is killing me." He just looked at me with a blank stare.
"I'm sorry I didn't know I had to," he handed finished making himself a warm tea, and picked up his things. "Besides you'd be too heavy to carry," he calmly took a sip of his beverage before walking to the front door.
"You're lucky I have nowhere else to go." He just smiled and opened the door ready to leave but he suddenly stopped as if he forgot something. He paused for a second and then looked back at me.
"Oh, I won't be home for a bit. I have an important meeting so you should go out and eat," I just nodded and he left. I plopped back down on the couch and thought for a bit. None of what happened last night was supposed to happen. But somehow it was something I wouldn't be able to forget. I slowly grazed my lips with my fingers.
That girl was the weirdest person I had ever met. But I suppose it's expected for what I signed up for. I took a deep breath and quickly got any thoughts of last night out of my head before I could give myself a headache. I guess I have to get ready and go eat.
After a quick shower, I stopped by a small cafe near the house that Damion had been talking about a lot. It was still early in the morning so there was only one other person there. I went inside and ordered my hot coffee before sitting down at a table.
Not even a second after putting my phone down to drink I heard a ding. I got a text message from Damion asking me if I could stop by the city and pick up a few things for him. Since I didn't have anything to do today I just responded that I would. I looked at the time, ten-fifteen. If I want to take the bus I have to hurry.
When I got on the bus it was almost full. Luckily I managed to find an empty one after some people got off. It's gonna be a bit of a wait since the city is about thirty minutes by bus so I went ahead and put my earbuds in and started listening to some music.
At the first stop no one got off and I hoped no one would get on because that would mean I wouldn't have a row all to myself. I closed my eyes hoping to not feel anyone sit down next to me. But unfortunately, I felt someone settle themselves down and heard them let out a deep sigh. I looked over and she looked pretty stressed out.
I couldn't tell if she was sleeping or not because her hair was in the way but I'm guessing she is. She moved a little and I quickly looked away in case she saw me staring. Some time passed and we were approaching our next stop. I wasn't sure whether to tell the lady just in case she was sleeping. But if this wasn't her stop and she is sleeping then I'd just disturb her. Better safe than sorry I guess.
"Hey, sorry but is this your stop?" I couldn't help but feel awkward at asking her but her eyes suddenly opened and directed towards the monitor. Please say this is your stop. Please say this is your stop.
"Yes, thank you," She began putting her phone in her bag and she looked over at me and smiled.
My heart stopped the second she looked at me. It's her? No, it can't be that's just too coincidental. Could she be stalking me? Her face suddenly changed from a warm smile to a shocked one. Did she recognize me as well?
"Are you out of your mind?!" What? I looked down and became horrified. I didn't even realize that I let go of my coffee. I quickly tried to wipe off her purse and anything else it got on with my sleeve.
"I'm so so sorry I thought you were someone else," I'm still not even sure if it is her. She wouldn't forget me would she? I felt her grab my hand and I looked up. My face is probably bright red by now.
"I-It's fine just let me," Before she could clean anything the bus began moving again. She looked up and looked panicked. She ran up to the bus driver and was talking to him about something. She missed her stop. She walked back over and sat down looking defeated.
"I'm sorry you missed your stop." I couldn't even look at her again. This is probably the most embarrassing thing I've done in my life. I just want this ride to be over with.
"It's fine. Just try not to spill coffee on me again please," she gave another smile and I looked away. How can she be so calm after I spilled coffee on her and caused her to miss her stop? I didn't know what to say but,
"I'll try not too." I heard her laugh a little from what I said. I could feel she was staring at me, not awkward at all. I turned even more towards the window trying to avoid her gaze. If she doesn't remember me then maybe I should keep it that way.
After the next stop we both got off but she was in a hurry so I couldn't say anything to her. I hit myself in the head countlessly trying to comprehend what I had just done. There's no way that was her, I must be hallucinating from the lack of sleep I had last night.
I imagined the familiar smile she gave me. And her laugh. Without any doubt, it was you. I felt the familiar warm sensation from this morning radiate through me once again. It was her.
Maybe I didn't want to believe it was her because I didn't want to accept that she forgot me. I mean she was pretty drunk but how can you forget someone you kissed the night before?
