Chapter 4 - Meeting Him

A grand room was present before them. Shades of crimson and golden coloured the room, and everything inside it was meticulously arranged. The maids had their head lowered and stared at the ground— a sign of them showing submission.

Odette's eyes fell upon the man in his mid thirties. The man looked young for his age, and his attractive features appealed those around him. However, stories of his thirst for blood managed to drive people away from him.

Her father, Damian Albinius, was a poisonous flower.

Beside her father laid two woman— provocatively dressed. Although both of them tried their best to seduce and appease her father, Odette could see the fear in their eyes.

They were not doing this because they wanted to; it was because they had to. After all, who was crazy enough to be willing to be with such a man?

"Father," Odette enunciated, bowing at the man before her.

Odette's eyes held a sparkle to them— something quite befitting for her age. However, the perceptive ones are aware of how it was not the same as others around her age. There was a hint of cruelty and sadism in her. Her lips were curved to a smile.

Raising her head, Odette turned to look at the left. Three boys and two girls stood. Five of them trembled— the reason being either fright or coldness, or both— and some of them had tears at the corner of their eyes.

They were dressed shabbily in rags, and dirt could be seen all over them. One could easily see that they belonged to the lowest class— the slaves.

Odette's attention felt towards a particular boy. He was skinnier and smaller than most present here. However, his features stood out the most.

The boy's blue eyes met with hers, and Odette's lips curved to form a wider smile. Odette wished to destroy that innocence in his eyes.

There were definitely something about his background that made him special. The naivety he possessed was not common for a slave, and Odette was curious to know about his background.

Maybe that had contributed to him rising in the top in her last life.

"My Dear Daughter, you are finally here," her father spoke out— finally deciding to acknowledge her.

Odette had complicated feelings towards her father. He was the reason she had grown up to become this cold-hearted and cruel. Because of him, she had this sadistic side within her.

If he was not her father, then she would have been normal.

However, she did not find herself disliking those qualities of hers. She derived joy from fear and death, and she did not hate it.

Her father was not someone she loathed yet she felt pleased when her father had passed away. It was amusing to her how someone as strong as her father was killed at the hands of the weak boy— he once tortured— so easily.

At the end of the day, maybe her father was not as strong as she had given him credit for.
