Odette heard the sound of door opening, but believing that she was merely imagining it due to her clouded mind, Odette chose to ignore it. There was no way anyone would dare to enter her room.
No one ever did.
The throbbing seared through her body when the footsteps resounded, making her doubtful of her previous judgement.
Who could it be?
Odette tightly grasped on to her dagger. Because of the black spots that flashed in her vision and the dim lighting, she could barely make up anything with her teary eyes.
Following that, coughs left her mouth. Odette felt as though her throat was being torn open. She sneered then, resembling a devil despite of her cute appearance.
Her mother really gave her an extremely potent poison this time around. This must be due to the attitude she showed the woman other day.
The blood that came with the cough stained the sheets red. A droplet of tear trailed down her face. However, instead of appearing fragile in this state, even with her deadly pale skin, Odette appeared menacing.
The atmosphere around her was thick as though she was ready to take lives.
But Adrian didn't feel frightened by her. His heart tightened painfully as he rushed over to her. Those expressive eyes of his were filled with tears at the sight of proud Odette being like this. They showed an array of emotions, all showing his deep feelings of sympathy and more for Odette.
Distraught, he softly uttered, "Lady Odette?"
That voice made her loosen her hold on her dagger, and she blinked her eyes multiple times, trying to clear her vision. That's when, she could vaguely make out the figure of a small child. Those eyes of his were filled with melancholy.
Were they for her?
Odette didn't want it; she hated this. He shouldn't be looking at her with those eyes!
She wanted to shift away from him when he got up on the bed and placed his hand on her cheeks. Although she was the one in pain, he looked on the verge of being burst out.
"Adrian," she mumbled out somewhat incoherently, not finding the strength in her to say anything more.
That's when, a jolt of sharp pain spread through her chest, causing her to immediately cough out blood, and a scream left her mouth.
Without wasting a second more, Adrian wrapped his hand around Odette and pulled her into a hug as if wanting to provide her with warmth and comfort. He badly wanted to take away all the pain from Odette, not being able to watch the suffer in this manner.
Wiping away the tears from his eyes with his hand, he patted on her back and said, "Lady Odette, don't worry. The pain will go away. I will take the pain away. Pain, pain, please go away. Leave Lady Odette."
Was it due to psychological reason? Odette really felt as though she was feeling better.
