The salary day was considered to be one of the joyful occasions for the servants working in the Albinius manor. Compared to the other houses, the ducal households of Albinius paid their employees more, and this was probably one of the reasons people came to work at here.
Seeing how joyful everyone was on their payday, Dennis could only grit his teeth. Due to his previous misconduct, he would not be able to share their happiness.
Although he was rewarded with coins previously, he didn't feel satisfied. As he was biting on his nails due to frustration, his eyes fell on Adrian, and a wicked idea brewed inside his mind.
The five year old boy had sparkle in his eyes as he counted the silver coins he received. The amount wasn't large, but it still brought a wide grin on to the face of the child.
Envy showed in Dennis's eyes as he stared at those coins. Those should have been his!
Although the corner of his lips curled up to wear a more friendly expression, those eyes of his weren't devoid of the rage that he felt as he approached the unsuspecting five year old.
"Adrian," called Dennis.
The voice of the older boy made Adrian raise his head to stare at him questioningly. The smile on his face made Adrian feel strange because of how rare it was. Nevertheless, it shouldn't be something bad since Dennis was smiling.
"What's the matter, Dennis?"
"Adrian, earlier, Lisa was calling for you. I believe she wants you to do something for her. You should hurry; she can get quite temperamental when one is late."
Hearing those words made Adrian stand up and question, "Is that so? Where is she now?"
"I saw her in the kitchen last time. That's where she should be."
Adrian nodded.
Then, placing the coins in the drawstring pouch, he held on to it while walking towards the door. However, before he could leave the room, Dennis's words caused him to halt.
"Stop."
Adrian looked back.
Dennis took steps towards the boy and said, "About those coins, it would be better for you leave them here before going. I mean, you are not careful enough, so what if you lose it? I can help you take care of them until you return."
Adrian's eyes fell on the pouch in his hand, and after thinking about his words, Adrian nodded his head in agreement at Dennis's offer.
Extending the pouch towards Dennis, he voiced out, "You are right, Dennis! I might lose them. Here."
After Dennis received the pouch, Adrian left the room, and malicious grin appeared on his face as he tightly clutched on to those coins.
