Chapter 32 - Chapter 32: About The past..

I began to pick up the pieces of Philip and tossed them carelessly at Jara's feet.

"How is it that whenever I get the horrid idea to ask you for assistance, everything becomes 10x harder?" My tone was flat and sarcastic however Jara either didn't care or didn't get the hint.

"How else am I to express my displeasure with your sudden choice to marry?"she coed sweetly. I sighed already feed up with her idiotic statements.

"Put this human puzzle back together already." I tossed the last body part at her and she immediately got to work. Honestly I could never understand Jara; even though I've known her from the moment she was born. Jara was the result of a kyne and what humans call Vampires. We the Kyne were created by the god Kyne before it's sleep from defeat in the War Of the Gods. Before The birth of humans the world was populated with many diverse species, some now long extinct. Kyne, Dragon-kin, Beastman, Dwarves, Elves, and the now rare Fae, were some to name a few.

The Kyne were attacked from all sides by an alliance between Beastman and Humans in the war of the gods. This forced our hand to mass produce vessels known as Vampires. The closer to one's ancestors the creator was the more powerful the Vampire. Jara Rose De Glamour Kyne was of the 3rd generation a product of a union between a Kyne and a Vampire. and is the last remaining true heir of her bloodline. She was powerful but much weaker than myself, a 2nd generation heir of my own blood line, therefore she had to do as I say of course. However she could refuse using her title as Heir; Which she never did for some reason. I couldn't understand it, she obviously didn't want too but did it anyway.

I sighed thinking back as Jara pieced the man together. The kyne, Elves, and Fae all lost the war. Although humans had come to accept the Elves many still treated them badly, the same applied to the remaining Kyne/Vampires, and Fae. The gentle nature of the fae forced them into hiding due to being enslaved so frequently; Us Kyne having very few true bloodlines left scattered and hid; though we remain in contact for business reasons through liaisons and envoys. The Elves weren't so lucky, They were lusted after relentlessly for their magic and appearance after the Fae went into hiding. eventually they formed a coalition under a much stronger and more proactive god. this resulted in power penalties to slavers,Etc on a divine level, it also warped the personalities of the Elves however...

"Done!" Said Jara cheerfully. "What do you think?" I stared down secretly pleased. the man would be fine but he would never be able to use his hands properly.

"Cut the fingers off and redo it." I said, trying to mask my amusement. she crossed her arms and struck an annoyed pose before doing as requested.

"You say do it right but I know you thought it was funny too." She mumbled under her breath. I stared at her then as she cut into Philip with more force than necessary; she said she loved me but how could she when she knows so little about me and the world. She was 998 yrs young.

"Jara exactly what draws you to me?" I asked, curious. she stopped and looked up at me in shock; then with an evil, fang filled smile said.

"I'll tell you if you give me a kiss..." I could feel my expression go cold.

"I've changed my mind." I said quickly to which she replied in a panic.

"No. No. I'll tell you okay. Just don't shut me out." Her choice in words took me by surprise. Did I really shut people out? Certainly I liked my privacy but I didn't see myself as a walled individual. She put the last of the fingers in place then came over to me.

"The reason I love you Amos is because I had always thought you and I would be together when I was a child. After our parents died in the war and your arranged marriage was annulled due to the death of your fiance; I was more sure than ever. After the war I only had you; It's why I offered myself to you in the first place." I listened to her as she spoke fondly of our shared past, but as she prattled on I realized something.

"So there is nothing in particular you like about me." She stopped talking and looked at me confused. I was no expert on love but I knew it was more than some silly act of destiny.

"Jara have you ever questioned your love for me even once?" She looked absolutely shaken but quickly recovered. with a shockingly more than confident reply she said

"Why would I? MY love for you is absolute Amos. and even if it takes 3,000 yrs eventually you and I will be together." I didn't like what she was implying. I knew as well as she that even if I turned Eva into a vampire after 2,600 years she would begin to decay if she didn't evolve into something more powerful. being so close to my ancestors in blood; death was so far off it was but a fleeting thought. and though Jara was 3rd generation she would be here well over 3,000 years. Having become disgusted with the topic I stepped around Jara and picked up the half dead Philip. Even grunt work was more appealing than continuing to talk to Jara at this point.

Meanwhile in a small pet shop in Durum Eva Looked on in delight at the multitude of colorful animals inside of a pin.

"Must we suffer this?" Said Ophilea with discomfort obvious in her voice. she shifted frequently causing Don to hug onto her. I turned away annoyed at the display; how was it that these girls weren't as annoyed as I was at the obvious favoritism? I'm not even in a relationship with the guy and it peeves me.

"This one's cute." said Casey, her calm voice rang in my ears pleasantly. she looked at the dogs with a warm expression and I watched on in awe. Casey was a cool beauty that looked disinterested to the point she was almost cold; however right now she had the warmest expression I had ever seen. it was so full of the affection I longed for I was completely sucked in.

"Don't you agree?" She looked at me when she said it and all I could do was nod. she turned her attention to the bird cages then and I found myself feeling a bit empty once more. Ever since Amos sent that letter everyone has been more relaxed; But I had begun to feel so empty. I have since resumed my training to become a tamer and now am looking for my first partner to train with.

"There are so many animals here, where do I start?" I said to Don, suddenly bursting with excitement. perhaps this would fill the void in my heart, I had heard a beast can cure loneliness once.

"Why not raise an egg?" Said the vendor signaling us to follow him.

"We have a special Gacha event today. why don't you give it a go?" He smiled candidly but something about it was a bit off putting. I looked at Don who also looked skeptical.

"Well what could go wrong." Said Don with a shrug. I suppose to him it was of little importance but to me it meant the world.

"Famous last words.."Said Casey under her breath.
