"Hawk...Say something! Tell me they are all trying to lie to me and this is their way to ruin my wedding day! Look at the wedding decorations! The balloons and flower petals and the red carpet..and the..." Her voice trailed off as she started noticing the specific details from the movie scene. Nobody is as clear as she was about the movie because she watched that specific scene hundreds of times.
"How could this be? I said, speak! You're my husband! You're Hawk Fu! You're from the prestigious Fu family! What is this mess?" The silence coming from Hawk made her stutter in fear. Anxiety crept in as she realized this may be the truth. All she heard were the vulgar comments from guests.
Slowly, her hand slid off Hawk's arm. When Hawk saw her reaction, he opened his mouth, sounding unremorseful. "Meng Meng, my lovely wife. Do you remember how I introduced myself since the first day?"
Meng Meng's eyes widened, recalling previous events. "You-"
"That's right." Hawk nodded. He continued speaking with a spiteful smirk on his face. "I have never once admitted I was from the prestigious Fu family coming from your mouth. You were the one who automatically assumed I was from the Fu family just because I was wearing a tuxedo suit at a socialite party. You ran into me and I offered to pay for your dirtied outfit. Then, we introduced ourselves to each other. Remember?"
"You-" Meng Meng bit her lips as he continued speaking.
"I never once admitted I was the young master from Fu family. And even if I ever did, you have no evidence of me doing so. Also, this wedding, chapel, decorations, and dust-filled carpet...They sure look familiar. Why? Because this is exactly the same set of tools used for that wedding scene!" Hawk's words struck Meng Meng's chest destructively.
Her chest heaved and blood boiled, yet she couldn't utter a word out of her mouth. After an entire day of talking and trying to look her best in front of people, she finally turned quiet for once. She stared at her groom, finding him more and more of a stranger than before. Ten minutes ago, he was still her lover. Now, she doesn't dare think about his identity.
Hawk mocked her thoroughly in front of everyone present. He laughed as he explained what he meant by those words. "My friend works in the entertainment industry. Through his connections, all I had to do was find a public chapel that cost me nothing to use. Then, with his help, I had everything set up. Oh, and the total spent on this wedding, including our outfits is also zero. Because you paid for your dress, it saved me a bunch on my budget."
"Why are you telling me this now?! Did you treat me like an idiot?!" Meng Meng screamed, wanting to dash forward and gouge his eyes out.
"I didn't treat you like an idiot. You are an idiot. Since I am exposed already, I might as well be truthful. Plus, I didn't lie to begin with. My last name is Fu and I am from the Fu family. However, it is not the same Fu family you thought I was from. I'm telling you this now because you are useless. It's not like you will still sign that transfer agreement now, will you? So, why would I waste another second of my day on you?" Hawk shook his head and shrugged at the clueless-looking bride.
Before Hawk made his way out of the chapel, he halted his steps and whispered to Meng Meng's ears. "Oh, right. I also forgot to tell you that we aren't married. We aren't officially registered and this ceremony doesn't count either. That minister was retired and I only asked him to do this for us because I can't get a real one in time. Hah, good luck."
"You-" Meng Meng couldn't hold her tears at this point. Once she heard every word that came out of his mouth and how he scammed her, she couldn't vent out her frustration. Tears smudged her thick eyeliner and mixed it with her foundation.
"Meng Meng, listen to Grandpa..." Grandpa Jiang was disappointed at his granddaughter's choice. However, it was also less complicated since they weren't legally married yet. In addition, he stopped Meng Meng from transferring her properties to Hawk, which prevented a catastrophe to happen.
Feeling hopeless and embarrassed, Meng Meng turned around and shoved everything that happened to Grandpa Jiang. She cried as she accused Grandpa Jiang of being responsible for this whole joke that happened to her.
"Grandpa! How could you do this to me? This is supposed to be my wedding day, not April Fools! How could you be so mean to let me suffer like this? I am your granddaughter and yet, you didn't introduce the Fu family to me before all this! You never introduced me to any rich families. Why did you think I became a social climber today?"
"Did you think I want to be this way? Do you think it is fun to get out to parties and date different rich men? What is wrong with finding the right man to suit my status? What did I do wrong? Yet, Grandpa decides to come and expose everything today! How could you be so cruel? If it isn't for you, I would have met another man from a rich family and probably headed for a honeymoon already! Now that I got scammed like this, nobody will ever want me as their daughter-in-law! And Grandpa is responsible for me for as long as I am alive!"
Meng Meng wailed as she spoke rudely to him. "Lily has everything already and I have nothing. Therefore, it is only right for you to give me everything you have when you find grandma six feet underground! Since no man will marry me after this, you will be responsible for everything I buy in the future!" She declared righteously as if everyone in the world owed her debt.
"And who said anyone should listen to your twisted thoughts?" Lily hurriedly walked to Grandpa Jiang to help him take a seat somewhere far from Meng Meng. Then, she straightened her posture and faced Meng Meng, ready to fight her verbally.
