"Who are you?" Meng Meng frowned, speaking with an unwelcoming attitude. When she saw the couple at the entrance, she sensed a bad omen approaching. As her brows crinkled, the couple at the entrance made their way down the aisle.
"Oh? Old Jiang, is this your granddaughter who is supposedly getting married to the Fu family? Looks more like a carnival mess than a wedding in a chapel." The middle-aged man stopped in front of Grandpa Jiang with his wife next to him.
"Is that any of your business? How rude is it for you people to come uninvited and then comment on how I want my wedding? And yes, I did marry the Fu family. Precisely, the prestigious Fu family that you will never be able to hold your heads up high to in your entire life! So you can scram if you're here to cause unnecessary trouble!" Meng Meng snorted arrogantly at the elegant couple by her side.
"Ah, with such shortsightedness, this Miss. Jiang - Oh, wait, I mean Mrs. Fu, sure deserves today's title. I would love to ask, who exactly is the groom here today?" The woman appeared calm toward Meng Meng's rudeness, however, the smile was not an amicable one on her face.
The woman's aura sent shivers down Meng Meng's spine, causing goosebumps all over her arms. "My husband is right there! So, obviously, you need to open your eyes more to this world." Meng Meng crossed her arms, leaning away from her Grandpa.
Oddly, Meng Meng felt threatened by the woman's presence. She hated the discomfort she felt, but there was no way to control her insecurity when facing someone who seemed to be more powerful than her.
Grandpa Jiang didn't speak another word after the couple walked into the chapel. Instead, he silently observed on the side as if he was watching a documentary movie that did not seem to entertain him as much as it should. His lips remained as a frown throughout the whole conversation.
After listening to Meng Meng's response, the woman ignored her presence entirely and stole a fierce glance toward Hawk. Smiling coldly, the woman asked him to confirm his identity. "So, young man. Are you the groom who is supposedly from the prestigious family?"
Hawk heard the sarcastic meaning behind those words and narrowed his eyes when his eyes met hers. He responded quickly and confidently, "My surname is Fu. I am the groom for today. May I ask who you two are? I don't recall inviting any of you to my wedding."
Inhaling a deep breath, Meng Meng found the confidence to interrupt their conversation and placed her hands on her hips. "And may I ask what business you have with my husband?"
"Old Jiang, I believe we need some introduction to clear this huge misunderstanding today. I want to clarify right here in front of every single person in the chapel that the wedding today does not involve the prestigious Fu family. Those were all falsified rumors and I hope everyone will help clear this misunderstanding with whoever they come across in the future." The man smirked, giving Grandpa Jiang the chance to speak up.
Given the opportunity, Grandpa Jiang cleared his throat as if he was ready to announce some big news to everyone at the wedding. "Ladies and gentlemen, I thank all for coming to my granddaughter's wedding today. I know all of you must have heard some words indicating that Meng Meng will marry the young master from the Fu family. However, I would like to clarify to everyone right now that Hawk Fu may share the same surname as the Fu family, but he is not from the prestigious Fu family that all of you have in mind."
Grandpa Jiang applied pressure on his cane as he continued speaking to the crowd. "Therefore, all the rumors you've heard is a huge misunderstanding on Meng Meng's part. And I would like to apologize to all of you who came specifically to meet the Fu family. Now, I would like to introduce Mister Fu and his wife, Mrs. Fu, who are both standing beside me right now."
"W...What? What are you talking about, Grandpa? Hah...Grandpa don't play with Meng Meng. Today is my wedding, not April Fools day. You can't make such a laughable joke that isn't even funny at all! This is a lie, right? This is a setup! These are actors that you hired!" Meng Meng trembled with Grandpa Jiang's words repeating in her mind.
"It is impossible! Yes, impossible! If he isn't the young master of the Fu family, then how could he afford to hold our wedding here? Look at this fancy chapel!" Meng Meng pointed at the neat decorations all over the place, overlooking the broken-edged benches and chipped paint from the wall.
Suddenly, Lily's voice sounded from behind. Lily stood up from her seat and patted her cheek. "Oh my! No wonder I thought this looked awfully familiar! This public chapel and its decorations resemble the one from the blood vomiting drama! Look! This is the wedding scene and it looks exactly like where we are!"
"Shut it! You're lying! You're just jealous of me!" Meng Meng shouted, pointing her index finger at Lily in disbelief.
"You watched this movie yourself too. Did you forget? This is exactly the damn wedding scene where the bride dies from a gunshot to her chest. The groom is the one who killed her in the movie too." Lily played the wedding scene she found on Youtube to everyone at the party, specifically facing Meng Meng's direction.
"Well, I did mention I loved that movie! Hawk must have remembered it and somehow made plans to give me my dream wedding! That does not justify anything!" Meng Meng raised her voice a tad louder than before as her confidence lowered over time. With more evidence popping up left and right, her last resort was to look at Hawk for an explanation.
