Chapter 4 - To Cheer Her Up

It was around 5:45 P.M. when Lily got back to her apartment. After settling down and searching through the Yelp app, the girls decided to order takeout from a nearby restaurant. They ordered stir fried chicken with vegetable and baked Portuguese chicken over spaghetti dish.

While they waited for their food to get here, Lily went into her room to take the Tuxedo Mask outfit for Ginny to try on. Since cosplay was one of her hobbies, she learned how to sew and adjust the measurements for outfits. If the outfit didn't fit Ginny, then she would have more time to fix the sizing.

"Let's see how handsome you will look in this." Lily helped her get dressed and carefully put the wig on for her. Since the outfit was meant for Hawk in the first place, the measurement around the waist and the length of the outfit had to be adjusted on specific areas. Lily used safety pins to quickly secure the places that requires extra changes.

Being careful by nature, Lily folded the sections that should be stretched or tightened and asked Ginny if she felt too tight anywhere before settling the safety pins in place. Her eyes were sharpest when it came to making changes to clothing.

Finally, after maintaining a scarecrow pose for five minutes, Ginny could put her arms down and walk around to see it felt comfortable. She cat-walked around the room and gave Ginny a hug, "Awwww, look at how handsome I am in this outfit! I'm looking like this even before I apply my cosmetics. Imagine my face being a hundred times better looking, hahahaha! All guys need to step aside!"

"Hehe, of course! My Ginny is very very very good looking in anything she wears. I still remember the last time you helped me fill in as a policeman for one of the events because Hawk also ditched last second. Oh, my goodness. Till today, my heart still beats like a crazy love at first sight moment!" Lily took a deep breath while cupping her own face.

She could feel her cheeks burn from imagining that slim fit suit and trench coat that Ginny had worn that time. Lily was caught off guard that time when Ginny called her name out from the middle of a crowd. The moment she turned around; she saw the handsome fellow coming her way in a blonde wig. It was amazing how natural Ginny fit for that character.

That moment, Lily felt like she could see snow melting, and the sun rising to embrace the harvest of spring flowers. The electrifying chills of Ginny's sweet smile had stunned Lily since then. Since that second, she swore that her heart followed Ginny around the entire time of the event and she was mesmerized to the point that she almost forgot what she was there for.

It was also the first time that Lily found someone that attractive in male cosplay. Since then, her maiden's heart saved a spot for Ginny. Even Ginny blushes at Lily's adorable expression. Therefore, Ginny knew how to cheer her up whenever she feels upset. For Lily's sake, she couldn't mind going the extra mile to comfort her.

In front of the mirror, Ginny dotingly pulled her into a tight hug with the long cape covering her from view. At first, she struggled to get out of her embrace, but then her arms wrapped around Ginny's slim waist and relaxed. Her eyes closed, and she looked up to meet a pair of smiling eyes, "feeling better?"

"Mmm~ If you feed me dessert later, then I'll feel even better! Hehehe~ Geez, you spoil me so much. What if I eat so much that I become a ball shaped hamster? No guys would want me then." Lily joked as she rubbed her face in her friend's embrace.

With the gloves still on, she lifted Lily's face and smiled, "You are perfect no matter how you look. I'll keep repeating these words to you and always mean it a hundred and one percent. Whether you are rolled up like a tuna roll, chubby like a hamster or anything you want to describe it, I'll take you in any shapes and sizes."

Lily's eyes gradually turned pink as she listened to her friend's meaningful words, "Similar to the billions and trillions of stars in the universe, you're the most unique you. Except, to me, you are no one of the many stars. You are the universe." Ginny caressed her cheeks and curved strands of Lily's hair behind her reddened ears.

"Damn it! Your flirting lines can be so cheesy, but I fall for them every time!!!! What will I do if you turn me into liking girls instead?" Lily turned around with her hands back on her cheeks, trying to calm her racing heart. Such sweetness! Which girl could withstand such words said by a handsome guy....?

"Good to see you back to the chirpy birdie that I'm familiar with. This suits you more than a frown. Don't worry, my tricks will only get better. I just wanted you to understand that whatever happens, it won't be the end of the world. Things happen and if things don't flow smoothly, you aren't losing anything. It just means that it wasn't meant to be." She patted her chest and smiled at Lily.

"This place is always here for you to lean on." Ginny winked and stretched to test out whether the pins are at the right place. After confirming that everything was fine and was ready for adjustments, she changed into her pajamas and clipped up her hair.

Ginny understood that there were times where she should not interfere with Lily's choices. The most she could do was to listen to her and boost her mood up while keeping her boundaries. Although her opinion of Hawk was not the best, she didn't talk bad about him because Lily seemed to be happy with him.

Recently, Lily appeared less happy around him. She had a lot that she wanted to say, but probably didn't know how to put the words together. All she could do as her best friend is be there when she needs someone.

Ding Dong

"Ah~ That must be our takeouts. I'll go get it." Ginny exited the room, leaving Lily standing in the middle of the room.

"Thank you," Lily whispered.

She turned off the lights to her room and went to set the table for dinner. Subconsciously, Lily's eyes would land on her black phone screen. Her distracted expression and the angle of her eyes gave her out instantly.

"If you want to check your phone, you are more than welcomed to. Even though I said no technology, we all know it's impossible. We have assignments and emails to check. Here, check it." Ginny handed the cellphone to Lily and continued to chew on the cheesy spaghetti.

Facing her friend's encouragement, she pressed the home button and unlocked her phone. The dullness in her eyes could not be missed. Seconds later, tears shimmered in her reddened eyes and a helpless sigh came out of her mouth.

"What's wrong?" Ginny put down her plate and chopsticks to grab the tissue box from the edge of the table. She worriedly asked as she noticed the glossiness in Lily's eyes.

Lily sucked on her lips and looked up with a forced smile, "I don't know why that I would expect him to message me first. But there's nothing from him. Nothing at all. I'm starting to feel very tired."

As soon as she finished saying the last word, tear drops ran down her face from the corner of her eyes. Handing pieces of tissues over to her, Ginny hugged her quietly and let her release her cries.

"Sweetie, relationships are about compromising and communicating with each other. If only one person does it one-sidedly, then it won't work out at the end. You'll only suffer more emotional pain if this continues. I think you should talk to him about it and have him make some effort as well." Ginny didn't know what had happened to trigger Lily like this, but this was the first time she had cried about this relationship.

Seeing how stressed out Lily was, she couldn't help but talk about it. Lily's rasped voice and stuffy nose caused Ginny's heart to ache. She replied, "I know...I'm going to talk to him about it."

"Mmm. If he isn't willing to change, then I don't think he loves you enough. I also know that there are a lot of things that you might not have told me because it is your relationship and I respect that. But remember that you are not alone. I'll always reach out my hand if you are willing to take it." Ginny comforted her until her tears had stopped.

"Thank you," Lily appreciated her company as she felt much better after letting out her negative energy.

Hearing her thanks, Ginny flicked the silly girl's forehead, "Next time, don't hold it in. Go wash your face and eat. The food doesn't taste as good when it's cold or reheated."

"Mm." Lily rubbed her forehead and walked to the restroom.
