Chapter 12 - Basics

Darien sat inside his little shack, sweat pouring down his face as he made his way back to his house. He felt rather terrible with all the looks of disgust he got from people silently judging him as he took these two back into his house. Laying them down onto his small bed as he just began to pace back and forward.

The injuries had iced over at this point, though both still looked pale and in a state of unconsciousness.

Hours passed, eventually the next day coming as Darien had spent the entire night awake before Sharon woke up, groaning as she rubbed her head and then looked to Darien with worry.

"Hey, Darien?"

Her voice soft as the man lifted his head, his cold icy blue eyes registering the woman before they started to fade, turning more of a burgundy red again. For better or for worse, she was saved by this man.

"Hey, I'm actually alright."

She said this to try and calm the man down, though as she looked down at her injury she noticed that she was healed, her body seemed totally fine now as she slowly pressed on the ice, melting it with her touch till nothing else was left but some slight bruising on her skin.

Sharon's eyes turned to Lessly who was sleeping soundly next to her, sliding up as she began to examine her neck which would have normally been fatal, her eyes scanning over the wound as she saw the exact same thing. Bruising and nothing else.

"Look Darien, how about you get some rest. You used some incredible powers but I bet you are tired."

Those words seemed to soothe the troubled man as he eventually went off into a rather deep sleep straight on the floor.

It did not take long before Lessly woke, both of them comparing notes together as it was almost so unreal.

"Lessly, what is your plan?"

The redhead looked confused as she heard that, speaking with such simple devotion that it even surprised Sharon.

"Serve him, of course. Look Sharon, if you had experienced what I had… Nothing could compare. I've never felt better since he bit me… Well except for the giant gaping hole in my neck, but it's an occupational hazard with our work right?"

Lessly's remark confused Sharon. Everyone knew Lessly as a vampire hopper, she used her personality, charm and wits to hop between vampires to get the best deals without causing much upset. Though that meant she never had a single vampires protection she would have more money and riches.

By sticking to an unbound Vampire like Darien it was clear that something had happened on a deeper level.

"What about you Sharon?"

Her own question was fired back by the redhead.

"I really do not know. Maybe I will see if a vampire will adopt him. I think I know a rather reclusive vampire who may help, though it's a rather big risk."

"Risk?" Lessly asked with concern.

"Yeah, she's a Morvant that I met one night. I never trust a Morvant for that reason. She's from the embassy and may be more likely to help since it's not on their property."

They both looked at each other as they began to form a plan, both knowing that this could end up as a massive issue if something went wrong but at this moment neither of them had any other way to solve it.

While they both plotted, Darien dreamed. It was a rather sweet dream as he felt two arms wrapped around his neck, a spotlight on himself as he was dancing a rather slow but beautiful waltz. His mind slowly formed back as he noticed the woman with white hair. He knew her in his mind though this was the woman that had attacked him. He had gotten his life totally changed by her.

Even after all this he simply continued dancing, spinning and holding onto this woman as the soft music played in the background. Her voice soft as she slowly moved a hand up to his cheek, softly laughing and smiling like she was the happiest person alive.

He felt his own face smile without control. It felt like watching a movie but in first person. Eventually his lips connected with hers, softness and warmth flowing around them as the ice around them shifted and cracked as they both danced the night away with such pleasure and grace.

This felt like a memory, though how could this be possible.

Waking up in the night made he slowly groan, eyes searching around as he noticed Lessly packing up items one by one, scowling at such items as she was chucking away his old clothing, even his magazines were simply tossed and his eyes went wide as the woman removed a small board inside the bottom of his old drawer. A few of his more… Personal magazines getting removed.

"No!"

His voice coming out horse and weak as he noticed the woman holding his magazines. Both of them slightly worn as people of his rank and file normally did not get the pleasure of electronic devices.

"Oh please Darien, I've seen much worse then a few dirty magazines." She said simply tossing them out like the rest of the trash. Her eyes glinting at the fact that he would potentially not need them anymore.

Though she gave off a typical woman's smile and look, it was lost on a standard man like Darien who seemed to miss all the easy to tell signs as he stood up looking annoyed.

"So, why are you packing up all my things. Nothing has changed?"

Lessly just began to laugh as she handed the case to Darien with a grin, shaking her head as she moved to the door holding a few small bags with the odds and ends inside.

"You are a vampire now, you are also going to start living with me now, we will share with Sharon for now till I can find a place. Though we are going to have to start looking at work for you so we can afford it. Then we need to head to an embassy and see if Sharon's contact will take you on. People defect all the time to other clans, though most don't live that long. Since you don't belong to any clan no one should hunt you!"

Those words did not help Darien as he began to sigh, rubbing his head gently.

"Live with you and Sharon. I guess I can sleep on the couch."

"Nope, in my bed."

"Well, I can't do that… maybe the floor…"

"No… My Bed."

"But…"

"Look, let's get this straight. You are a vampire but I make the choices regarding our Lives at this moment." Lessly said, pushing her luck. Something stirring inside the vampire.

"Are you sure about that?"
