Chapter 3 - Ig’Dracil

With a flash of light Thomas was no longer in the Social Hall. A game panel appeared above him stating, Do you wish to use current avatar for Ig'Dracil?

Thomas spoke "yes" and an image of his new body appeared. A new game prompt appeared, What is your character's name?

Thomas thought long about this. He wanted a unique name but didn't want to use his old gamer tag. Finally he came up with a name he liked. He spoke "Legeron".

A subprompt appeared, This name has not been used. Do you wish to continue?

"Yes"

The name now shown above his avatar. A green circle indicator appeared to the left of his name. Must to be to represent player status he thought.

What weapon would you like to start with. A list of weapons appeared all with grey names. A smile broke across Thomas' face. Nothing like starting off at the bottom of an RPG. He scrolled through and eventually picked a battle axe to start with. He now had 6 points to put into his major stats.

The major stats in Ig'Dracil were the following; Health, Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Constitution, Charm, and Perception.

Health was pretty straight forward the more points you put into health the more HP you have during the game.

The next three all had to do with damage output. Strength was physical damage for close up heavy hitters, dexterity were for the more agile or ranged, and intelligence was magic based.

The last three were unique. Constitution was a measure of your resolve almost willpower. The higher your constitution the further you would be able to push your physical limits, like stamina, durability, how easily you could get sick. Charm was based of your people interactions. This involved persuasion, insight, political moves, and generally how likable you are. Lastly, perception deals not only range of sight, but spotting treasure, weak points, traps, survival, and points of interest.

Starting off with the battle axe Thomas put 2 points in health, 3 in strength, and 1 in constitution.

The concept of a battle mage always intrigued Thomas and that would be his eventual goal. However, first he would have to see how compatible that concept was to the game of Ig'Dracil.

Finally the last prompt appeared which surprised him. There were no class specializations. Already this game was so different from other MMORPGs. The last prompt read, Where would you like to start your adventure?

A list town names immediately appeared. Hundreds of choices. It was overwhelming to look at. I wonder where the other person started. On the top of the list there was a random option. Not knowing good starting areas or which was the best town. He pressed the random. Immediately he was dropped into the world.

The quaint little village was named Terige. There were no more then twenty building with in it and the total area it covered was probably less then half a mile. On one side of the town was a dense forest where it was obvious that trees had recently been felled there, probably to help build another small house. The other side lead into open pastures where crops were being grown. Every building had the exact same coloration and build. Dark brown wood created log cabin ascetics with red clay shingles for roofs. It was fairly well developed for how small it was.

Legeron spawned directly in the village square in front of him was the well which supplied the entire hamlet with fresh water. Directly behind it was the general store a small sign hung over the open door reading Brent's goods. To the left of the well was a slightly large abode, probably signifying the person who ran the village. To the right led a path marked with six identical homes.

The warm air smelled like pine trees mixed with barely and the faint sent from a beast of burden. The sun was shinning high in the sky illuminating the magnificent day. A prompt appeared in front of Legeron. It read, hold hand flat in front for 3 seconds to activate personal menu.

Legeron complied and a panel appeared inform of him. There were four tabs available: stats, skills, equipment and quests. He tapped the first one and a list of his current stats popped up.

Legeron (HP 65)

Lvl: 0

Health: 12

Strength: 13

Dexterity: 10

Intelligence: 10

Constitution: 11

Charm: 10

Perception: 10

Under each stat and level was an experience bar. Currently all of them required 10 XP to level. Also each stat had its own drop down menu. He clicked open strength. There were another 3 stats located under here: climb, carry, attack power. He quickly open the rest of them to find there were multiple stats for each major and all of them had XP bars. How detailed was this game?

After being overwhelmed by the stats Legeron opened the skills tab. Under here were three skills currently: battle axe, unarmed, dodge. Each one also had drop down menus. He clicked open the battle axe and found only one skill, slash.

Slash

Lvl 0

An attack when activated deals 110% weapon damage damage

15 second cool down

Instead of XP this required skill points or SP. In order to up grade slash to lvl 1 he needed 10 SP. Next he open dodge. Under this menu was the skill quick dodge.

Quick Dodge

Lvl 0

In a moment of imminent threat your body naturally reacts to avoid damage when activated.

30 second cool down

After seeing all the stats and skills he quickly figured out why this game was known as a true grinding game.

Next tab he opened was equipment. Under here had his battle axe

Battle axe: (Worthless) 1 cp

Damage Type: strength

Min. Str.: 11

Damage: 10 + (3) = 13

Durability: 10/10

He also had a village shirt, pants and sandals each giving 1 point of armor. There were 7 slots available for inventory space but not a single bag. There was space for a necklace and 4 rings. This was one of the weakest starts to an RPG he had ever experienced.

He proceeded to open the last remaining tab which was quests. Opening it up he found one current active quest:

Humble beginnings

Quest level: 0

Talk with madam Muya by the well.

Looking up from the panel he saw an elderly lady holding her back as if she was in pain peering down into the well. Legeron closed the personal menu interface and began strolling towards her.
