Ace Wagner admitted his brother to Mt Elizabeth Hospital and informed Abigail to watch over him until he wakes up.
`Why do I have to babysit a man whore?' Abigail protested.
`Watch your language Abi. Mom and dad will be here soon. You can leave once the butler arrives.' Ace spoke while pinching the bridge of his nose and rubbing his temple. He was tired of listening to her complaints in the car and now he has to listen to her here. Sometimes he wondered if they were siblings at all.
`You better repair my baby otherwise a new car would do just nice' Abigail spoke haughtily while applying a bright crimson lipstick on her lips.
`You don't have an allowance for a new car' Ace spoke sternly. He spoke with a heavy British accent having spent his primary and high school there.
Abigail pouted her lips and gave his a death glare, knowing full well, she had utilized her share of pocket money from their father for the month.
Ace Wagner is a good-looking man. He is tall at 6ft 2 inches with a broad back and well-built muscles. He has a cleft on his chin and a strong jaw with stubble growing on it screaming macho suitable for poster advertising linoleum across the aisle of a subway train. His almond-shaped eyes are dark lilac colour as if coloured with a child's watercolour. With well-defined pair of thick brows and long lashes he practically oozes sexiness.
He is a metrosexual man who meticulously pairs his suits, shoes, and grooms himself well enough to pass for a poster boy selling cigarettes and houses. His best feature is his lips, sharp clean-shaven upper lip and a full lower lip, soft; the colour of a pale pink rosebud at dawn waiting to be caressed by the light and in his case to be touched by the opposite gender.
`Tch this is taking too long', Abigail lamented and signalled for the nurse for an update.
Ace paced the floor and kept looking at his Rado watch. He was growing impatient as he had to abandon his meeting and rush to Hadwin. He cursed under his breath.
Just then he heard rushed footsteps coming towards them and his parents came in view. Both his parents were nearing their 200th year but they looked like middle-aged people. They aged slower than humans.
`How is he now? Is he okay? Ace? What did the doctor say?' his mother Mrs Roselle Wagner questioned with panic evident in her eyes.
`Fret not mom we are waiting for the drug to wear off. He was beamed into some machine and whatnot. And I think...' Abigail spoke before Ace stopped her from talking further. She was frightening their mother with her poor understanding of medical terms and connotations.
`He has a hairline crack on his skull. The MRI and CT scan did not reveal any damages. He is under sedatives. But it should we wearing off now' Ace Wagner spoke while hugging his mother.
Their father Jacques Wagner spoke to the chief doctor about Hadwin's health and nodded his head. He looked at Ace with gentle eyes before turning to look at the room where Hadwin laid. At least I have someone who is sane in this family, he thought.
Just then a loud cry could be heard from Hadwin's room before a nurse rushed out looking all flushed with messy hair. She stopped when she saw the entire Wagner clan staring at her for an explanation.
She bowed as low as she could and stammered`M..M..Mr. Hadwin Wagner…h..he..he is awake now'. And she dashed in the opposite direction, avoiding eyes contacts.
`Jack just got up and started looking for her Jill. Jill ran out and Jack got butt smacked by Wagner. Tra la la la la la la. And Jack got butt smacked by….' Abigail sang a nursery rhyme changing it completely and stopped midway when Ace glared daggers at her.
`Oh my boy' Mrs Roselle exclaimed and as if on cue all of them rushed into his room.
`Well, well, well. Who do we have here?' Hadwin smiled and spoke with a hint of cheekiness. He spread his arms wide and his mother hugged him tightly.
`You need to fix my car. And until it gets fixed you will slave away for me', Abigail spoke with anger in her eyes.
`Mom, I'm not well and she is ordering me' Hadwin whimpered like a kid and pouted.
`Now now, we will talk about that later. Dearie are you hungry? Can we bring him back home?' Mrs Wagner spoke while looking at the doctor.
`He needs to take some medicine and change his bandage daily. Otherwise, he is fine, and I believe as a vampire you will heal in a day or 2' The doctor explained.
`Alright, we will bring him home. And you are grounded for a week' Mr Wagner spoke this time leaving no room for argument.
Mr Jaques turned his attention to Ace and both spoke about the repercussions, such as the fines, repairing the damage as well as keeping it under wraps from the authority. He gave a name to Ace, telling him to contact the person who works in the government to close the case for them and maintain a clean record for Hadwin. Ace nodded and stared at the name card of Mr Ebraham Nordi.
`Serves you right', Abigail stuck her tongue out and giggled.
`Mom. I am starving', Hadwin complained.
The doctor was a human and he panicked. His eyes darted left and right before he excused himself politely and as silently as possible. He did not want to offer his blood to anyone.
`Did you see that Ace?' Abigail laughed her heart out looking at the timid doctor scurrying away. Ace smirked. His father approached him and both started talking about the meeting he had to abandon midway. It was a meeting between their Korean counterpart to keep the Wagner updated on the ongoing of the construction of a blood factory there.
`Mom, there is a stall selling killer fried rice and dumplings, Romero Rice Shack. It's just 2 blocks away Can I have some?'. Hadwin pleaded while holding his mother's hand.
They seldom ate anything cooked outside of their kitchen for fear of being poisoned. Mrs Wagner was uncertain about street food and she looked at her other 2 children for assurance, but she was disappointed. Abigail was busy pouting her lips and taking a photo of herself in the hospital room while Ace was immersed in deep conversation with her husband.
`Pleaseeeee mom, I promise to be as obedient as I can' Hadwin pleaded with puppy eyes and smacked his lips with his tongue indicating his hunger.
`Alright! I suppose we could allow you', Mrs Wagner waivered and gave in to his demand.
`Ace dearie' Mrs Wagner turned to look Ace. ` Could you get some fried rice for Hadwin? From some shack named Romero something.'
`Romero Rice Shack, 2 blocks down south', Hadwin corrected his mother and kissed his mother's cheek.
Mrs Wagner felt overwhelmed, caress her son's cheek, and rested her head on his chest. She sighed, thanking God for saving his son. Hadwin winked at Ace and Abigail, which the latter rolled her eyes clearly unhappy with the way her younger brother manipulated their mother.
Ace Wagner looked at his father for approval and after he nodded his head he left in search of the stall. On his way out he called for his secretary Gordon Browne and pass the kerchief with the condom sachet. Gordon's eyes almost bulged out of his socket when he heard his boss narrate the accident. He had to get a fingerprint out of the sachet. Easy job, Gordon thought. Gordon left immediately to complete his task. Ace hated waiting.
