Donna had held on to Don and was still shaking the whole time she was explaining what happened to the police.
Donna realized she was almost napped by this pervert. A couple of seconds more and she would have been.
He had violated her the first time by going into her house and making himself at home. He showered, ate something, and left the first note that read "Next Time".
Donna was angry at this guy and told the policeman it was time to set a trap before this pervert tries to get her yet again and makes it this time! Who was he and what did he want from Donna?
She scoured her mind trying to think of someone who might be the culprit but nothing.
Don picked Donna's father up and then met John as he also came through the back entrance. Don gave Donna a hug and then started introducing himself around to the group. The police officer, Ray Tindelman, introduced himself and a department detective, James Henson, who was to be responsible for setting up the sting, as he liked to call it, so that hopefully no one would get hurt trying to pull it off.
Donna put on a pot of coffee and got out some homemade pastries and set them on the breakfast table in the kitchen where everyone was introducing themselves to each other and quickly went to her bedroom to changed her blouse and got back to the kitchen just in time to hear Don say, "Here is our guest of honor now. By the way, Donna made these pastries."
Donna smiled and asked everyone if they had coffee and everything they needed before the meeting started then she sat down between Don and her Dad.
Lieutenant Henson began by asking
everyone to brainstorm who they thought might be the culprit. He also asked everyone to think about anyone that had past enemies that might want to get them back through Donna.
John had one bad encounter with a possible client that he threw out of his office about a year ago. The guy threatened to get him back. Other than that, he couldn't think of anyone else.
Don was next and he also only had one villain in his career but this guy will be in prison until he dies of old age. Don spoke up and said he guess this guy could do damage through somebody on the outside. "I'll need to check into any possible leads in that scenario and get back with you, Lieutenant, if I might get your card.
Donna's father was next and he got kind of quiet as he said , "I did think of one person."
Donna was totally surprised as were the others.
Charles continued explaining as he looked straight at Donna. "Apparently, the man I killed along with my wife, was this man's only son and he even tried to get at me after the trial when they read my sentence. He said that if he ever found out that I had been released for any reason at all, he would come looking for my daughter because he knew I had a girl and it would be an eye for an eye or a daughter for a son.
"Dad why didn't you tell me about this," Donna replied.
Charles continued by saying "Donna, they kept everything "hushed because of this very reason." "I guess somebody told this man that I was out again and he definitely could be a suspect."
"Okay, Charles would you spend a few minutes with Officer Tindelman describing this man and let us check him out? We'll also need to get a picture out to our officers for identification and if he's in this area, he will be stopped and held for questioning."
Donna sighed at the past still trying to envelope her again! No one knows all the pain it caused her when her dad shot her mother and some man. At 15 years old, when she could have had so much fun dating and going to proms and dances, her whole world fell apart! She pretty much became an introvert until her aunt and uncle officially adopted her and changed her name, so hopefully, no one would place her with the double murders.
Donna slowly got her footing back and then her aunt and uncle persuaded her to try out for cheerleader and she actually won. Who could resist such a sweetheart of a girl. Red tousled curly hair, long legs and beautiful eyes that looked like pools of soft blue water not to mention a shape envied by the other girls and dreamed of by most of the boys. Still Donna was just as sweet as she was cute! Her aunt had spent so much time with Donna in helping her to get back up to the life she had left. Her aunt became a real mother to Donna, something Donna had missed out on with her own mother. Her mother spent most of her own time
scouting for her next love affair and had very little time for anything else, especially a young girl. Donna snapped back when
she heard Don calling her. You okay, hon?" "Ye..yes", she answered. I'm sorry I guess I was back in another time for a few minutes.
Lieutenant Henson said that was all for now until they checked out everyone. So the group started leaving when the detective reminded the men to not leave Donna here by herself at the house until this got resolved.
John, told Don that if he didn't mind, he'd like to volunteer to stay some, along with Donna's dad and Don so they would keep someone with her 24/7 until this nut case was found.
Donna asked her Dad if he might want to move in with her but the lieutenant warned against Charles staying with Donna since he could not carry a gun and if it was this guy, just the sight of your dad might set him off.
Two weeks went by and no one attempted any harm to Donna so everyone planned another meeting to discuss the next plan of action, possibly a trap to catch a potential murderer.
