It's Saturday afternoon and Donna just got the call from JoAnn faking her illness. Now everything was ready.
Now the plan is in place. The next thing to do was to let Donna act as though she was home alone. Then it would be up to the intruder to make his move.
Donna cleaned the house acting busy but nervous! The night slowly went by and no intruder yet.
She finally decided to get her shower and go to bed. Maybe the intruder decided it was not the right time or else he smelled a trap.
Donna brushed her hair, put her moisturizer on and laid down thinking everything might have been a waste of effort this time.
About 3 a.m., Donna was awakened by Don's hand being placed over her mouth. Don told Donna to get up so they could leave. He told her that Officer Tindelman had been shot and Lieutenant Henson held this guy off while Don slipped away to get her so he wasn't sure about him.
Don told Donna to hurry up but then he saw the look on her face and felt the feeling of cold metal laying against his temple.
At that, Donna literally passed out and fell to the floor. Don started for her but the pistol pressed even harder against his head.
A deep voice behind him spoke up and said, "That might be the last move you ever make." Then he grabbed Don's gun from him and hit him on the head with it.
Donna was slowly regaining consciousness. When she got her wits about her, she saw Don on the floor with some blood near his head and she started to scream.
"He's okay missy, just a surprise knock on his head that broke the skin. But, this day will not end so easy for you, I'm afraid!"
With tears streaming down her face, Donna said "Please let me go check his head out. I'm a nurse." It's me you want, not him."
The intruder said, "Well, so far he's faired better than the other two in the safe room." "Safe room, now that's a laugh", he said!
"Just stay where you're at until the boss gets here." "0h, so you are now two, instead of one pervert, Donna said sarcastically!
"That's right little lady, I'm a gun for hire man!" The pervert, as you called him, has headed over to see if our other friend has managed to get the two in the vacant lake house."
"Oh my God, please tell me that he didn't kill them?" In one split second, Donna's whole world fell apart!
"Well, we'll just have to wait and see now won't we?
In a few minutes, the other crook showed up with John and Charles, John had his shirt saturated with blood on the upper part of his left arm. Charles had a super large knot on the top of his head the size of an easter egg but thank God, they were alive.
The other guy that brought John and Charles in was a giant of a man. Both John and Charles had their hands tied behind their backs.
Donna looked straight at John to make sure her dad and John were both okay. John nodded back yes.
Then the pervert himself came in flashing his pistol and smiling. First he spoke to Charles. "Well, long time no see Charles!" Charles just looked at him in disgust.
Then the man (pervert) introduced himself as Mr. John Doe. I am the father of the man killed along with your wife when you caught them in your bed, Charles. Remember Charles, I promised you that if the law ever released you, I would trade an eye for eye. I would take your daughter's life, just like you took my only son's life.
I would have never believed you would get out after committing a double murder! Strange, our Justice Department!
Listen, John Doe or whatever your real name is, you don't want my daughter, she didn't hurt you by killing your son, I did! It's me you want! Just let these people go and you can fill me full of bullets until your rage is over!
"Charles Smith, I don't have enough bullets to get rid of all my rage against you. When that was said, John Doe motioned for the big guy to slap Donna's dad. He hid him so hard that he fell down but Charles got back up again and started at Mr. Doe (although he is due no respect, this so-called Mr. John Doe).
Then, the Mr. Doe walked over to Donna and began to stroke her hair. Don was awake by now, and was headed straight for him for touching Donna. He got two steps before the big guy knocked him out a second time.
Donna spoke up then. "Why didn't you just kill me outright?" Why did you have to wait and trick these good men?
"Not that you really need to know, but I wanted your Dad to suffer like I did. I wanted him to be here and see you die before his very face so he would know how much I was hurt to not even say goodbye to my only son.
John chimed in and said, " Just maybe if you're pretty boy son had stayed out of bed with married women, you'd still have him."
Mr. Doe said, "and this from a man who cheated on his own beautiful wife!"
John was in shock when he heard that! "How in hell did you find that out?"
"Let's just say your fiancé should stay out of bars when her boyfriend is out of town!"
"So I guess you slept with her too," John replied.
"No, actually she had a couple of drinks with me and then she just got up and left."
"Thank you for telling me that, John replied.
Then, the little guy spoke up. "Boss, it's almost morning and we need to get out of town before anyone hears of this!"
"Okay, okay little man! First I must finish what I came to do." Then the pervert that Mr. Doe was, looked straight at Donna's dad as he said "I guess now is as good a time as any to kill your daughter."
Donna took a chance and acted like she had passed out again but when Mr. Doe pointed the gun anyway and cocked the trigger, suddenly the lights went off and several guns fired with bullets were flying in all directions!
When the lights came back on, Donna was pointing her pistol directly at Mr. Doe, Don had wrestled the big guy down and had his gun pointed at him.
John and Charles, though they had their hands behind their back, were able to get the little guy down also and were sitting on him beating his head in with their own heads and kicking him. The little guy begged for mercy and since everything now appeared to be under control, they stopped.
Then the best thing happened. Lieutenant Henson came in holding up Officer Tindelman, who had been shot in the right leg. Lieutenant Henson had stopped the bleeding and thanks to their bullet proof vests had made it through. The Lieutenant was knocked back against the wall when the bullet hit him in the vest and temporarily lost consciousness but when he awoke, he could see Donna from the hallway and quickly motioned that he was going to turn off the lights and to be ready!
Donna got to her pistol hidden under her pillow and aimed at the so called Mr. Doe. He looked at Donna and broke down sobbing. He said, " I was so close to getting revenge for my son.
About that time, they all heard an ambulance, and multiple police car sirens.
Donna ran over to Don and gave him a kiss that for once curled his toes!
She couldn't stop kissing him as they loaded him in the ambulance. Don didn't want to go but Donna being the nurse in she and Don's relationship, got him to go get checked out at the hospital Emergency Room.
After the xrays came back without an concussion, Don asked an orderly to help him down from the hospital bed since he was still a little dizzy. Then in front if the whole Emergency Room, he got on one knee and preposed. "Donna, the love of my life, would you please marry me and I will spend the rest of my life loving you!"
Donna said "Yes, my darling hero, I'd love to marry you and to Donna's surprise, Don slipped a gorgeous engagement ring on her finger and gave her a kiss that made her toes curl, while the hospital emergency room went crazy with the news of their engagement.
At about that time, John, Donna's dad, and Lieutenant Henson and wobbly Officer Tindelman were all congratulating the pair, along with the Emergency room staff that had worked with Donna.
Then Donna went straight to her dad's arms and once again the tears fell between them but this time they were tears of joy!
