I knocked on the door lightly. It slowly cracked open and I could hear her sobs coming from the other side. "Trinna, can I come in?" There was no response just sobs and rustling could be heard. I opened it slowly and saw her pack what little she had taken out. I walked up to her and hugged her as tightly as I could, which caused her to cry even harder.
She turned into my embrace and cried into my shoulder, hugging me back tightly. "How can I compete with you, when you look like that but I'm just me." she said in between sobs. I patted her back waiting for her to calm down. At some point, I was holding all her weight as her legs gave out.
After what seemed like an hour she has her sobbing under control and I sat her on the bed. I brushed back some strands of hair that were glued to her face from her tears and handed her a tissue. "I-I need to leave I would rather not be rejected, leave and never see him again than being rejected, leave and never see him again. Just leaving will make him happier and I won't be in his way of pursuing you. Don't worry, I will still make sure the peace treaty continues, I'll just tell my father that I didn't like the city as much as I hoped."
"No, you aren't leaving! Let me tell you a story, although I'd rather Wyatt tell it, I don't think that will happen anytime soon." I took a deep breath and glanced at her.
She was on the verge of tears again, I took her hand in mine and traced circles on the back till she calmed down again. "What Wyatt believes to be romantic love that he feels for me, I can almost 100% guarantee is just a family love. Wyatt moved to our pack when he was 5. At the time his father had just died and his mother couldn't stand being in their old pack. His mother locked herself away for about maybe a year. She was depressed never really getting over her mate's death. She wouldn't come to see Wyatt or anything. Then one day she just up and disappeared, later we found out she committed suicide about a mile out of pack territory. When we found this out Wyatt locked himself in his room and only ate maybe once a day he was 6 at the time. After many, many visits to his door, James and I got him to talk to us. We became his family, his reason to continue with life." I said watching as she looked to the ground.
I placed my hand on her back and gave it a pat before standing up. "You're just going to have to give him some time. I mean it's not every day a straightforward bubbly girl shows up in front of him and just kisses him. He never really dealt with people outside of our group besides my brother Lee, and the twins Landon and Alec. So please stay, I could really use another girl in this group of males." I said smiling softly before heading to the door.
"Saph." Trinna said softly making me stop and look at her.
"Thank you." She whispered, starting to grab whatever she had started to pack and take it out of her bag.
---------------------------------
I walked back to Wyatt's room to see him lying on his bed. James I guessed left, considering he wasn't in the room anymore.
I had knocked on the door to let him know I was there but I guess he didn't hear.
His arm was covering his eyes, his breathing was soft and peaceful, which normally meant he was sleeping.
I grabbed a pillow that was on the floor from an earlier game of chase and hit him with it.
Wyatt shot up, glaring left to right to see who the culprit but when his eyes caught mine they softened.
I hit him with the pillow harder which sent him falling to his side from the impact. "What the hell Saph?" He grumbled as he sat back up.
"Tell me why- Just enlighten me for a second. What in that head of yours told you to do that Wy." I said gripping the edge of the pillow a little tighter.
"Why do you always push people away that isn't one of us four. We can't be with you forever Wy. Landon, Lee, James... me, we love you we do but... in a couple of months the title of Alpha will be passed down to him, and that's where the real work starts for the both of them-"
"I'm tired of being the second choice Saph!" Wyatt yelled as he stood up from his bed.
"I'm just so tired, I was never anyone's first choice, so why should it start now. My mother chose to ignore me and die after my father's death when she could have survived and tried to heal some of her pain for the one thing she had left of him- me!" He took a step closer.
"James is James, he is where the party is at. Normally that is with Lee and Landon, yea all of us hang out all the time with or without them but we rarely have where it's just us, there is always someone there. Then there is you-" He took another step closer and put his hand lightly on mine. Taking the pillow out of my hand and replacing it with his.
I yanked my hand out of his and took a step back. "You were never a second choice to me Wyatt. You never have been and you never will be. You are the one and only person that I do not share with my brother and Landon. You are the one person that did not use me to get to those two, besides James. But James is different, I've known him since I was a baby. Do you know how many times I was asked to play by those two and sometimes James when you locked yourself in your room? I always told them no, why? Because I knew that there was a boy in this room behind that door in broken pieces because he had no family. I wanted to be your family. I used to sit outside your door for hours upon hours hoping that when you came out for the first time I would be there. So I could give you that hug you deserved and tell you that everything would be fine.
I still picture that face the day you found out your mother died, you looked so broken, and I had just gotten you to smile an hour beforehand. Or shall I also bring up the time where there was a severe storm that no one should walk in or even drive-in, but you had gotten the grave-yard shift and had to lock up, by yourself that night, and they didn't have a cover, so there was nowhere for you to wait out the storm. And you know what I did? I walked the 8 miles in the rain when everyone told me not to so that I could get there on time when you got off with an umbrella waiting for you. Only for it to break halfway through the walk and for you to remind me that you could have just gone to the woods and went wolf. But I didn't care because it also meant that you didn't come home by yourself. So no you were never a second choice to me and you will never be a second choice to Trinna. She was willing to just up and leave for your happiness, while also finding an excuse so that the treaty doesn't break. So I suggest you think long and hard about what you want to do about her because you have a sweet girl in another room on this floor, who is willing to wait as long as it takes for you to open up to her."
I turned back to face the door and made my way to it. "Saph," He said as I placed my hand on the doorknob.
I turned my head to face him, giving him a sign to continue. "Thank you." is all he said before he flopped back onto his bed letting out a loud sigh.
