I haven't seen Alec since we came back to the house two nights ago. He's been avoiding me, he ran in ahead after he said "He knows." and then ran off. Apparently, I have to go to HE himself to actually figure out what exactly knows, because I am getting nowhere with Alec.
Luckily unlike his brother, Landon is easy to find. There are a total of five places you will most likely find this man, I'll even list it in order. 1. The pack's gym where most of the warriors go to work out and train 2. The game room, 3. The kitchen, 4. Lee's room, and lastly 5. His own room.
Now I can cut down options 1,3, and 4 which means I am 60% through the list. Option 1 because I was at the gym this morning, and Landon tends to have a set schedule when he is there. Option 3 because I passed it on the way back in. Finally option 4, Lee isn't in town right now so there is no reason for him to be there. So that left options 2 and 5, and just between us, I was hoping he'd be in the game room. Which meant game room first.
On my way, I ran into Alpha Charlie who was coming out of the first-floor library out of six libraries. Now you may be asking 'Why so many libraries?'. Well, only four are for use as the others are filled with records, meaning only the elders, council members, Alpha and his mate, soon-to-be Alpha (past a certain age that is), and the Beta can enter. The other four however are for public use because you can never have too many books, and it's a great hiding place for when your elder brother and his friends try to play tricks on you.
Smiling and waving at him I said, "Good morning Alpha Charlie.".
"Sapphire, how many times must I tell you to call me Charlie, or Uncle Charlie?" He said sternly, tapping the top of my head with the book in his hand.
"For as long as I can remember, but even though I am the beta's daughter I will not get any official title so, I should be like the others and be respectful and call you Alpha."
He rose a brow as if he was about to challenge my thinking, but I beat him to it. "Before you say 'You do know that you can challenge your brother for his title?' I do in fact know. But to be terribly honest I don't want to be Beta, to follow Landon around all day and do desk work, no thank you. My brother can do that because there is no way in hell I am doing a desk job until my kids take over."
Alpha Charlie grinned from ear to ear. "You sound just like your father, he complained every day back then... hell who am I kidding he still does. By the way Sapphire, the twins used to follow you around everywhere, and all three of you would follow Lee. It was quite adorable... peaceful, and quiet. Oh how I miss that, now there is not a day that goes by that there isn't some sort of argument.
Also, you are basically the daughter I never had, quite literally, and it's not just you that I see as my kid beside the twins. Your brother, Wyatt, and James, all four of you are family, so stop using Alpha please just use something else?" He asked with hopeful eyes.
I smirked, "Fine... Old man, you win. Now speaking of the twins have you seen either of them? Especially, Landon, I need to have a word with him."
He narrowed his eyes, studying my face. "Why what did he do? Lee's not here so there is no way it was a prank or something. Should I have the medics on standby? Or should I make sure that there are no breakables around?" His eyes were filled with interest and caution. I mean to be fair it was rare that I was specifically looking for Landon. When I say rare I mean like the sky turning green rare.
"No, it's on civil ground. He hasn't done anything... yet."
"Oh ok, well last I saw he was in his soon-to-be office doing paperwork that Lee sent over. So I'd check there first if I were you." He said with a smile, before sidestepping to get past me.
As we walked away I called out to him, "Thanks for the help old man!" Which just earned me a chuckle.
Next stop, the Alpha office.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I knocked on the dark oak doors, no answer.
I knocked on it a second time, no answer.
As I was about to knock for the third and final time I heard a 'come in'.
"Is there something you need Saph? I'm busy reading over this paperwork for the treaty." He said barely even looking up from the pages scattered across the desk.
"Landon, can you please take a second?" I asked standing at the front of the desk with my hands placed on it.
He looked up and sighed, leaning back in his chair. "And what could possibly be so important that THE Sapphire Jackson, has come to find me? Which might I add never really happens, well when you are calm that is." He said smirking, stretching a little bit.
"Well Landon Cooper, I need answers. So is there anything you need to tell me?"
"Ah yes, once I sign this treaty as the soon-to-be Alpha your brother will be on his way back. Apparently, they got ahead of schedule so Lee will be coming back straight away, and your father will be a couple of days after. According to Lee with the excuse of 'Not wanting to do Beta work'. Your brother asked me to pass that along."
I looked at him with questioning eyes, that's it? "So there is absolutely nothing else you need to say to me or something you need to get off of your chest?"
Landon matched my questioning gaze with his own. "No, why? Did I do something to irritate you or anything? I don't think I did... wait. Is this like a trick or something where I tell you something and you get mad, or is this one of those 'you tell me your secret, then I'll tell you mine?'? Aww Saph, has it become the time where you finally admit that you have been deeply in love with me for the longest time?" He asked in a slightly mocking voice.
"H-How did you know?" I asked with a 'surprised' expression. Landon however failed to notice I was acting, because his once mocking, way too proud face faltered
"L-Like deadass? For real for real? Put your hand on the bible and swear to tell only the truth?"
"No, you idiot. Now, are you sure that there is not something that you want to tell me, that you should not know?"
Landon's face went expressionless, the only hint of emotion was the hint of sadness that left as fast as it appeared. "Yes Sapphire, there are many things that I shouldn't in fact know-at least right now-, but am I going to tell you? Nope, because I don't think you are ready for this information. Now that you have gotten what you had came for can you leave? I have paperwork to look through by tonight." He said motioning to the stacks on his desk.
I nodded my head and walked to the doors, but stopped when my hand hit the knob. "Landon?" I asked, not facing him, knowing he probably wouldn't look back up.
He had hummed in response signaling to continue. "Thanks, for uh telling me about my brother... I'll see you at dinner."
I twisted the knob and opened the door before he called out to me. "Sapphire... I'll see you at dinner, save me a seat?" I smiled and nodded my head, leaving and closing the door behind me.
Well, that went as planned.
'Why didn't you just ask him straight out if he knew that you guys were mates' My wolf asked.
I guess it's because I'm too scared.
