*Landons pov*
For the past two hours, I have spent half-listening to my father talk to guests. "What's on your mind son?" I shrug not wanting to let my father know that Sapphire has been on my mind since this afternoon, and the fact that it's worrying me that she hasn't come down yet like James has already done. All of a sudden I saw Wyatt come down the stairs and went straight to James and then they both shrugged at something.
Before I could watch more my father cleared his throat which brought my attention back to him. "Um- nothing just thinking of when it's time to eat."
He rolls his eyes and turns back to the group that consisted of my mother, Lee's parents, Charlotte, and a couple of the last sober council members. Thankfully James and Wyatt were standing by the buffet table that was about ready to be served. Which reminds me where is Lee? I need to tell him this amazing news.
All of a sudden the spotlight turns on and some soft music plays. We all look toward the stairs and finally approach's Sapphire with... Lee? They start to slowly go down the stairs and then all of the sudden Lee trips and falls down the rest of the stairs on that section. Sapphire looks at Lee with a concerned look. He shakes his head and mumbles something. Sapphire gives an awkward smile to the crowd. My mom and her mom pushed me towards the stairs. "Finish escorting her and do the first dance with her." They both whisper yelled, I put my hands up in surrender and slowly walked out in front of the crowd, while out of the corner of my eye I saw Wyatt tempting to go forward, but stepped back once he saw me go forward.
I felt the second spotlight that was on her is now on me. I slowly walk up the stairs when I get to where she was I held out my hand. She took my hand with hesitation. My hand started to burn and tingle just by holding her hand. When we got to the bottom I did a bow and she curtsied in return. They started to play the song and we started to move with it like it was made just for us to dance to. "How is it that when I was practicing with Wyatt we were always going really fast, but with you, we move with the music?"
I spun her while answering her. "I don't know, maybe he let you lead. Which is a bad idea if I say so myself, because I bet you couldn't hear the beat and that you have two left feet."
She scoffs and rolls her eyes. "One I was not leading and two I can hear the beat of any song so it definitely wasn't me."
I chuckled a little, so she defends the first two but not when I say she has two left feet. "Ah so it IS because you can't dance you have already stepped on my foot twice tonight."
She gives me a small smirk. "Are you sure that I'm not doing it on purpose because I'm pretty sure I can dance perfectly."
It was getting close to the end of the song so I spun her out and she spun back in. I could feel everyone's eyes on us. For the finale, I slowly dipped her. She was in my arms, her face only a couple of inches away. I could feel her breathing slowly, I start to edge closer and closer till I felt a hand on my shoulder. "Yo dude you've been in that position for like five minutes."
I take a deep breath as I helped her back up. "Uh yea sorry about that... I should go find your brother." And with that, I give James a small nod and left.
*Sapphire's pov*
The boys left me to go get food so I have been sitting in the corner reading a book like I normally do at these types of parties. "Well, well, well, what do we have here?"
I roll my eyes and move away from him just as he sits next to me. The image of him looking down at me is still fresh in my mind and I could still feel the heat and sparks that continued through the whole dance and I REALLY didn't want him to know that. "So, instead of being lame how about you actually enjoy YOUR party?"
I just roll my eyes. "You mean the party I didn't want, all I wanted to do was go camping. And it's not just my party its James too, so as long as he is enjoying it that's all that matters."
"Really? Camping?" He asked as I sighed as I got up from the bench.
"Why don't you just leave so I can go back to reading." He stands up with me.
"Sure if you do this little dare." He says as he takes a step forward.
"O-Or you can just leave and I don't have to do anything." I said as I take a step back.
"Why are you acting a little nervous...?" He said with a smirk plastered on his face.
"I-I am not acting nervous... if I consider doing the dare will you leave me alone?" I questioned as I folded my arms starting to get a little chilly, it is currently October, which is why I hate that they made the party outside than inside, plus I forgot my shaw inside.
He taps his chin for a moment and then looks back at me. "Maybe...depends on if you do this dare."
I sigh as I put my head in my hand. "What is the dare?"
He grins and points at a tree. "I dare you to climb that tree and jump in the pool."
I roll my eyes at his childness. "I am not going to climb that tree and jump in the pool its mid-fall so it's becoming cold, which means I'll get sick before I even go in the trio. Besides, that's the stupidest dare ever."
He puts a hand over his heart as if he was hurt. "Wow Love, that hurt."
I gave him a cautious look. "Love?"
He grins. "Yea, Love. What don't you like the nickname?"
Him calling me Love made by heart beat faster and faster every time he said it. "U-Uh no... don't call me it."
He takes a step closer, his grin turns into a smirk. "Oh really? Then how comes your face is red?"
My eyes grow big. Is my face really that red? Oh poop! Is he going to tease me? 'Eh it won't matter he is still hot either way.' I roll my eyes at my wolf and tell her to shut up. "My face is only red because one I am pissed that you won't fucking leave and two because the air starting to get colder as the days pass."
He gave me a surprised look and then he went back to his famous smirk... that showed his beautiful dimples, I mentally slap myself at that thought... he just had to be my mate. 'Oh don't worry honey, he may be annoying now but once you accept he's your mate he will become much more hotter then he is now.' I pinch the bridge of my nose. "Would you just shut up."
He gives me a confused look. "I didn't say anything yet... oh and by the way since when have you cursed? You never curse."
I groan into my hand as I look up at him. "I said that out loud didn't I?"
He nods as he taps his chin. "Yes, yes you did... now Love let's get back to that dare."
I glare at him. "I'm am not doing it and stop calling me Love!"
He shakes his head while making the tsk tsk sound. "Come on Love just do it."
I looked at the man who is hidden behind the mask. "Yea, no I am not jumping off a tree into the pool, and like I said don't call me Love Landon!"
He smirked. "What's wrong, you scared Love?" He said stepping closer.
"L-Landon step away." I said trying to push him away but his face was only a few inches away.
He smirked as my cheeks started to heat up even more than what they are. "Ah I know what it is, I make you nervous. Don't worry Love I won't tell, and we will continue this discussion later." He winked and slowly pulled away and dropped his coat on my head before he started to walk away.
"I-I hate you Landon." He chuckled as he met up with my brother.
"What was that?" I turn to see the two nimrods that left me alone in the first place.
"I hate you two you left me alone for so long." They both chuckle and hand me a drink after I quickly put Landon's coat on, what can I say I'm freezing.
*Landon's pov*
I can't believe I did that... why didn't I tell her? That was the only reason why I went over, she was finally alone. I am such an idiot, why can't I just say 'hey I like you and I've liked you for a very long time and I know that you are my mate so... go out with me?' Why can't I say that well not as awkward because you know this is me Landon, future alpha we are talking about and the future alpha doesn't ask a girl out like that, well she isn't any girl but still, I mean at least she is wearing my coat and no one else. "Dude what was that? I thought you were going over to tell her how you feel and that didn't look like that."
I look up and look at her and then look back at Lee. "Yea... I got distracted but hey she is wearing MY coat."
"Distracted by what exactly?" He said while smirking.
"Oh shut it I already know what you are going to say." I said as I shoved him a little
He nods his head. "Uh-huh, and what was I going to say?"
I gave him a knowing look. "Really you weren't going to say anything about me being whipped or that I'm a coward for not telling her that I like her and that I know that I'm her mate... yes I know all of this but I can't help it."
All he does is chuckle and put a hand on my shoulder. "Dude all I was going to say is that you need to make better dares and also to say that at least you called her by a couple's nickname and got her to wear your coat..., oh and your face was also red too." With that, he limped over to go talk to his sister and I went over to my parents.
*Sapphires pov*
"So when are you going to tell him?" I look over at Landon who was talking to some guests and his parents. I took a deep breath and turned back to the three boys.
I closed his coat more before answering. "I'd rather not and just wait till his birthday where I will be rejected."
All of them sigh and shake their head. "You realize his birthday is less than one and a half months away right?"
I look over at him and catch him looking away. "Yea I do realize that..."
"Hey Love and James, your moms told me to tell you both it's time for cake." Wyatt and I looked up at him in surprise hoping he didn't hear anything but Lee and James just nodded.
As we were walking to the table I hit lee and James in the side. "Did either of you tell him?"
They both just shrug. "I don't know did we or is it just a figment of your imagination."
I groan and go up to Wyatt and put my arms around his waist as he put an arm around my shoulders. I swear I heard a growl from where my brother, James, and Landon was. I looked towards them and saw Landon glaring I just smile and continue walking towards the table. I laid my head on his shoulder. "I swear he knows... he's glaring at us because I guess of how we are at this moment."
He rubs my back and says. "Don't worry babe if he tries to reject you I'll protect you."
