Chapter 10 - Master

My vision returned as a small but cozy room entered before my eyes. A large desk occupied the majority of the room as the windows behind the desk showed the beauty of the sun that was slowly setting into the clouds.

"How... How high are we?" I asked, noticing the clouds were actually below us.

"We're at the 2nd highest floor of the tower, and the Central Magus Tower was built to be exactly 700 meters high. The clouds you see are merely the works of the Nimbus Magus. They're mages who are able to conjure clouds and bring rain after mastering both the water and air elements. They're probably watering the gardens." Mertho responded.

"A lovely explanation as always Magus Mertho." A striking beauty walked out of thin air next to the desk with a smile. She had long silver hair that seemed to shiver in the light and an oversized silver robe that was gilded in gold. She held onto a strange metal rod as she sat down onto the chair behind the desk.

"What brings you here Magus Mertho? You mentioned you have something that was related to the aether? Oh and who is this young man?" The lady asked as she played with a small plant that seemed to react to her touch on the desk.

"Lady Silvia, I am here to request you to take this young boy, Deus, in as a disciple." Mertho responded with a stern expression.

"Hmm? Mertho, you do realize I have not had a disciple in a very long time." She turned to look at me. "Why do you request this?"

Mertho pushed me forward. "Deus, you should explain yourself."

"He-Hello." I gulped. I felt a strange and oppressive aura that seemed to be radiating out from the lady. "My name is Deus... I was brought here for testing and found out that my main element is the Aether."

"WHAT!?" Silvia jumped up and stormed up to me, grabbing me by the head and staring into my eyes.

"Uhh..." I was paralyzed from shock.

"Stand still Deus, she's just looking into your mana." Mertho spoke out from the side.

"How dense is your mana?" The beauty, Silvia, asked as she continued to look into my eyes.

"About... I saw almost a hundred stars on the orb..." I responded in a scare.

Silvia let go of my head, took a step back and scrutinized me. "Hmm..."

"Lady Silvia is the head of the Central Magus Tower. She is... A silver dragon. Her title is the Eternal Guardian of Knowledge and her main element is of the Space type but has also touched upon the secrets of the Aether after mastering all the primary elements." Mertho explained from the side as Lady Silvia was lost in thought. "She's also over 3000 years old."

"MERTHO!" Lady Silvia's head snapped onto Mertho as an intense form of pressure seemed to push against him from all sides. "You know I dislike it when people mention my age.

"M-My apologies... Please have mercy..." Mertho's face reddened up as he struggles to apologize in a hurry.

"Begone." Lady silvia snapped her fingers as Mertho simply disappeared from the spot without a single trace.

"Wha-". I looked around in confusion and even tapped my forehead to see if there were any data remnants but to no avail.

"Boy." Lady Silvia called out my name.

'Gulp'

"Are you willing to become my disciple?" She continued.

"Ye-Yes? I don't really know what is really going on. I was kind of dragged on from place to place and somehow ended up here..." I spoke out dejectedly.

"In all due time, everything will be explained. What's important is your own choices. Since you agree, recite these words out loud." Lady Silvia snapped her fingers and words seemed to condense from the very air before my eyes.

I read them out loud.

"I, Deus, hereby accept tutelage from Silvia Pendragon. I shall bid by her words lest they go against my morals and follow her teachings as if her words are the truth and only the truth." A mysterious energy started to seep out from my body as they bonded with the words in the air.

"Good." Lady Silvia smiled. "I, Silvia Pendragon, hereby accept Deus as my disciple. I shall teach him to the best of my ability as my morals allow and shall guard him against the darkest of the threats he shall receive in times of need." Another strange energy seeped out from Lady Silvia's body and bound with the words in the air.

Then.

Shling!

The words condensed onto a single point and created a strange badge that Lady Silvia caught with one hand.

"Congratulations on becoming my second disciple Deus. You may call me Lady Silvia or Master. I shall grant you free access to all the rooms except the top 2 floors of the tower. You may request to enter this floor with a sufficient reason. Your room will be on the floor below mine, and have equal, if not more, privileges than the senior magus of the tower." Lady Silvia walked back onto her seat and sat down as she spoke. The badge shining in her hand which she then flicked towards me which I captured with my hands.

"That badge acts as my symbol and will prove your identity to the others. It is imbued with both the aura and you and I. Come back here in a week after you settle down onto the tower. I shall help you learn the basics of the Aether then." Lady Silvia wrote some strange words onto the thin air with her metallic rod.

"There will be someone to show you to your room and help you settle in, you will find him on the floor below. To move between floors, just say the floor name or the name of the location within the tower you have access to. Now go." She clicked her fingers again as she sent me off.

"Oh...Alright Lady Silvia. I shall take my leave." I bowed and started to walk back towards the symbol.

"No need for such politeness Deus. We'll be seeing each other much much more from now on. I anticipate it." A silver glow appeared alongside a strange but somewhat sinister looking smile from Lady Silvia. I gulped and made my way back to the elevator symbol.

"Third floor."

Ah yes. This again.

The world distorted into a blur.

-----

Within the canteen of the tower where the majority of players were purchasing food to consume.

"Did you hear? Lady Silvia Accepted a new Disciple!"

"Is it another player or an NPC?"

"I heard it was an NPC, his mana density was almost 100!"

"Lord almighty... What was his element?"

"Nobody knows but people say it's something within the Origin Tree."

"Maybe it's Space just like lady silvia?"

"No way, I heard from my master that the Origin Tree elements are not common enough for two of the same type to exist near each other. There's a high chance that it is either Time or the mysterious Aether..."

"There's no way it can be Time. My master told me there hasn't been a single Time element user since Chronos... At least of the ones we know."

"He could be someone that had been hiding up until now?"

"It's very likely he has the Aether element."

"Wait, does that mean he can use all the elements but space and time?"

"In due time, probably, but not yet. He's just a beginner."

"I'm jealous... I only have the fire element."

"You're complaining when you have a pure element as your main element? Mine is Mud... I have to decipher both water and earth elements to fully master mine."

"Only two, psh. My main element is Nature... I have to master Earth, Water, Fire and even a bit of the Life element to fully master... Ah my life..."

The players continued to spread the news between each other as they ate dinner.

The night had come.
