The students were hailed as heroes when they arrived at each town. They had been traveling about a month with the king's guards and the army trying to learn tactics and strategy in a "learn as you go approach".
As they approached this town they were met by a pig eared woman named Pu Zi. She was the patrol leader of the local town militia. For many students this was their first time meeting a non human citizen.
"O mighty heroes please help us" said Pu Zi. " A minor gate has opened in the center of town. Slimy monsters have been pouring out of it since this morning."
Shiela the shield maiden came forward leading Bobby and his group of tankers.
"Bobby go with Pu Zi and lead your group to victory" Shiela said. Bobby armored in plate mail and carrying a Roman style tower shield stepped forward together with his group.
Jogging lightly with Pu Zi the group of tankers scooped up slimes to throw them back into the gate. Some slimes got under their shields and through their armor to begin feeding on the favorite food.
Unfortunately for Bobby it meant his clothes and padding. The slime was successful in consuming every nonmetal piece Bobby was wearing under his plate mail.
Konigsdottir looked past the gate and spotted a large red humanoid at least eight feet tall. "Hey what's that creature?" she asked Bu Li. Bu Li looked "Not good, it's a red ogre. The small ones like that one travel in hunting packs." Bu Li said. Then he shouted "Formation Turtle!!" The instructors looked yo where Bu Li pointed.
"Bobby g5!" Astrid screamed. Bobby glanced over a little to his right and looked past the glowing gate. He gave Astrid the thumbs up. His slime covered tanker group used their combined provoke skill called absolute attention from every monster present. Locking and overlapping their shields they entered a turtle formation.
Red ogres and trollorcs several hundred feet away converged on the little group of tankers. Drawn to it like flies to manure.As they attacked Bobby's group Konigsdottir began issuing orders to the others to flank the opposition and attack at range. Magic users cast antihaste and other debuffing spells at the red ogres while archers fired flaming arrows at the trollorcs.
In less than a hour the slimes, red ogres and trollorcs were dead or fleeing. The heroes collected the monster cores, entered town and began feasting. Every day the class hunted down monsters or feasted until the reached the demon border.
