Time slipped, and I lost track of it for a time, and I lost myself in holding my body together using energy to stitch my body together forcefully. The internal injuries were the worst, and the pain was something that reminded me of my death. It was so close that when I finally got up, the first thing I did after getting out of bed in the captain's quarters was find the Lich.
"Ah, You are awake now," The Lich said as I climbed down into the belly of the galley, and I sneered.
"You fucking took to fucking long getting your shit together down here during that fight," I snapped and grunted at the pain inside me.
"You should be careful," The Lich said, their voice flat, and I could only nod. I looked at the woman, now tied up with a collar also around her neck, and I looked at her frightened expression.
"Been keeping our guest under control?" I asked slowly.
"You clearly subdued her. That was," the Lich paused and looked at me, their blue skin now showing. I could see the struggle in their mouth to come up with the word. "Odd, a human body should not be able to flex like that."
"Well, the dead should not still be living," I replied dryly, "That was a last-ditch effort to control this bitch, and it did not help my internal injuries from them."
"Yes, I was just about to assist when you grabbed her and pinned her to the ground, surprising me. Seriously, you took on two B rankers and took one of them captive, and the other is now dead. Your knife was lodged into his brain from the eye. Remind me never to become your enemy."
"I don't need to remind you. If you ever give up information about me and I learn about it," I paused and looked at the Lich. I will hunt you down, and you will be lucky if I just kill you. Remember, my profession is not combat-related," I sneered in front of the Lich, who looked surprised at me.
"Wait, what is your profession?" The Lich asked, "I honestly never knew; we both know I am a necromancer, but yours is more convoluted. And you are not a combat professional? This bitch would beg to differ on you, and I agree."
"Hmm," it tilted my head, "You have a point, and I don't really care. I am going to keep this B-ranked bitch to train. It might take some time, but I am going to train her really well to ensure," I looked down at her, "Not even her mother and father will recognize her."
The look on her face was one of absolute terror, and I turned to the Lich. "Okay, Now, how far out to sea are we, and how long to get back to shore that I can swim with this bitch?" I asked.
"You were out for a week, and I think coming back in not at the capital would be for the best," The Lich replied, and I nodded.
"You are correct. I just hope all my plans are going well while I am out at sea. Bring us close enough to shore to let me swim back or use a cutter, and I can box this bitch as a prize."
"What about the loot?"
"The loot can come later; just raid some ships and increase your power and maybe establish a base out here to store things, and we can start to sort things out at sea and only bring back valuable things."
"That will take time."
"We have time. We need to be careful after that stunt; I was not expecting such a strong reaction from the port authorities."
"You acted like you were," the Lich said, surprised. I barked a laugh, tasted blood in my mouth, and spat on the floor, which the Lich looked at. You know I have to live on this ship, and I don't want to be cleaning it all the time."
"Too bad, I just got kicked the shit out of for you. You can clean up some blood-stained spit," I sneered. "Anyways, I planned for the worst and good thing I did. Your original ambitious plans would have gotten us killed. Even our more conservative ones did. Now," I sighed, "I need to lay down. I am still injured, but food first."
"You're not even going to talk to your captive?" the Lich asked.
"Why would I?" I asked, turning back to the Lich, looking down at the Vampire and chuckling, "Why should you care about her?" I asked curiously, and the Lich looked surprised. "Any information she has about the patrols would be changed by the time I am back in the capital, and any information about the hierarchy in the organization is worthless to me. I don't have anything to ask her, and she has nothing to negotiate with. The only thing of value in her is her strength and ability. In order for me to make use of that, all I have to do is break her. Breaking things are much easier than you think, Lich. You should try breaking a human's mind once. The pleasure you can feel is like that when you were a kid. It's intense," I smiled and looked at the Vampire, looking at me more and more terrified by the moment.
I reached forward and ripped the gag out of her mouth. "Tell me, Vampire, got anything valuable to tell me? Something that might incentivize me to keep you intact?"
The question hung in the air, and the Vampire told me everything as she desperately thought. I could see her mind racing faster and faster. "Ah, too late. I guess you have nothing."
My words were clearly a death sentence to her, and she screamed, "No! NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO! PLEASE, I- I- I KNOW THINGS! I CAN TELL YOU ALL THE BLACK MAIL IN THE CITY THAT I KNOW! I KNOW A COUPLE OF CORRUPT PEOPLE! YOU CAN BLACK MAIL THEM! PLEASE! PLEASE! LISTEN TO ME-" I let her go on that long, and I stuffed the gag back into her mouth, and I sighed.
"See, nothing good, just worthless information; come on, Lich. Let's go eat," I said deliberately, leaving her in the cabin tied without a way out to scream into her gag to beg to tell me information. I entered the rowing section of the Galley, and the Lich looked at me.
"Are you serious about that?" The Lich asked.
"Hmmm, About the food, dead serious, I am starving, and about the bitch back there. Just as serious, she might have useful information, but it most likely will be lies at this time. Better take her somewhere she feels no hope, and then I can interrogate her properly. You might have it more useful out on an island out in the ocean, but for now," I shrugged, "What the rush? We have more than a week together before I am ready to head back with her. Let her sweat on minimum rations to survive."
"You know, you are worse than Liches I meat that completely lost their humanity."
I laughed at the Lich, "There is nothing crueler than humans dealing with other humans. Crimes are not committed by beasts, Lich. They are committed by humans who want to move up the social ladder by any means."
I watched the Undead tirelessly row us out to sea, and I turned to the Lich. "Come on, from one Sociopath to another, let's eat before I go have a tiger nap."
