They arrived early to the courthouse and Mr. Samuels sat down and walked them through everything that could go on. When they received a knock they got up and moved into the court room.
Mr. McKenna, Harrison, and two lawyers sat at the prosecution table. They sat on the defence side.
"All stand, the honorable Judge Johnson presiding." The bailiff called out and everyone stood up.
"You may be seated." The Judge said.
"This is the Case of The McKenna family vs. Ariel Jensen case 114-J on the docket."
"Thank you." The Judge opens a file and looks up and shakes his head. "I have read over this case very carefully and it makes me upset that this is even brought into court. Mr. McKenna are you sure you want to proceed with this case." He said looking at Marcus's father.
"Yes, Sir" The lawyer answered.
"Ok, then perceed with your case."
"Your honor, we have here a case of swindle. Miss Jensen got Marus McKenna to donate a piece of land that belonged to the McKenna family. This land was left to this family by my clients father. I sumit the last will my client has." He handed a file to the bailiff. "What we need this court to do is force Miss Jensen to sign back over the property to the family. We would also like her to pay 2 million in compensation as this land has been on hold and a project my client could not start has been on hold due to all this."
The Judge looks at the file and as the lawyer sits down he looks up, "Mr. Samuels"
"Yes your honor." He hands a file to the bailiff. "My client Miss Jensen may own this property but it was given to her by the rightful owner. As you see the late Mr. Marcus H. McKenna had revised his Will a year before he passed leaving this property to his grandson Marcus who was his namesake. Marcus in turn had promised his grandfather to do something special with this land. Miss Jensen is in charge of a new project that will benefit the town as a whole and that is what this property will be used for. If she changes her mind about this project then the property will revert back to Marcus McKenna. She can not use the property for her own gain. Therefore the McKenna family have no right or say over this or any of Ariel's or Marcus's properties or assets. We also ask at this time a permit restraining order be placed on Mr. McKenna and Harrison McKenna."
"Are you aware of this new Will?" The Judge asked looking at the two men.
"Your honor they were both at the Will reading." Mr. Samuels said.
"Well answer me." The Judge sternly called out.
Mr. McKenna whispered into the lawyers ear. "Yes, sir he was but he wishes to contest that will."
"On what grounds?"
"It was not given to my client before his fathers passing so it could be discussed as a family."
The judge laughed, "It has been seven months since my friend Marcus passed away. I remember like it was yesterday the meeting we had to discuss this Will. I asked him why he was cutting his son and grandson Harrison out of his Will. I won't tell you what he said because it is irrelevant to this case but let me say this if you wanted to contest the Will it should of been within thirty days of it being read. As for this case. I find for the defendants. The property belongs to Ariel Jensen as stated by the contract between her and Marcus McKenna. I also grant her a restraining order against you both. You must stay 50 feet from them both at all times. At the request of Miss Jensen Kimberly and Lily McKenna are not included in this order. As for the temporary order it is dismissed unless you can show why it needs to remain."
No one said a word.
"Then this case is done." He stood up.
"All rise." The Judge walked out.
"You may now be dismissed." The bailiff points the way out.
When they all got back to the room Marcus pulls Ariel into a hug. "See I told you it would be alright."
She took a deep breath of his manly scent. She had not realized that she had been holding her breath through that whole ordeal but she could breath now that it was over. A weight had been taken away and she felt the relief of it.
"I will send over copies of all this as soon as the clerk gets them typed up and filed. If you need me for anything else feel free to ask."
"Thank you for everything. This was worth what I pay you."
"I would help you anyway I can." He shook Marcus's hand.
Ariel turned to Marcus and took his hand. "I was scared for awhile there. Your father looked as if he would kill me with just his looks. I really want to know why they hate me so much."
"Never worry, I will always be here to protect you. I will also try to find out why they are really doing this. My father and I have never really gotten along but he has never tried to use the law to control me before. I think it is time to pull out the big guns and really put him into place."
"What do you mean?"
"I'll explain when we get home. Just know that everything will work out in the end."
