Lily knocked on Ariel's door then heard... "Come in?"
She pushed open the doors. "Can you tuck me in and tell me a story?" she asked.
"Sure, Let's go." Ariel took Lily's hand and the walked down to her room.
"There you are. Why did you leave your bed?" Mrs. Potter said.
"I wanted Ariel to tell me a story."
"Miss, you can not bother guest like this. It is not acceptable."
"It's alright, I don't mind and I miss telling her stories." Ariel said.
"I don't care. This little girl needs to learn that this is not acceptable behavior. Miss please go back to your room and don't interfere."
"Please" Lily begged.
"No" Mrs. Potter said.
Ariel turned and walked down to Harrison office and knocked.
When Marcus opened the door she was in tears and flew into his arms.
"What wrong?" he asked.
Harrison moved closer, "Who made you cry?"
"She... I... Lily..." she did not make since.
"Did Lily hurt your feelings?" Harrison asked.
Ariel shook her head no.
"Lily went upstairs to ask Ariel to tuck her in and tell her a story." Marcus said.
She shook her head yes. He could feel his shirt getting wet.
"Did the nanny say something?" Harrison asked.
She shook her head yes.
He left the room to find out what was going on.
He arrived at Lily's room to hear her crying as well. When he looked in he found his little girl in bed sobbing. He scooped her up in his arms.
"Lily, what is wrong?" he asked.
"I tried, I asked Ariel to tuck me in and tell me a story. I wanted her to be my mommy just like you said but Mrs. Potter said no and ran her away. She said Ariel can not be my mommy and I can't bother her anymore." she cried.
"Go to my office. Ariel and Uncle Marcus are there. Stay with them right now. I'll fix this." Harrison said putting her down.
He then went and knocked on the nanny's door.
"Yes?"
"Mrs. Potter we need to talk." he said.
She soon opened the door. "About what?"
"Why are Ariel and my daughter in tears?" he asked.
"Because they do not follow the rules of proper etiquette. I told you that when you hired me I would make a proper young lady out of Miss Lily." She said.
"I see so a six year old does not need to be tucked in with a story?" he asked.
"That is correct. She needs to go to sleep at bed time not listen to a story full of fantasies. You know she thinks that woman is a Mermaid. She also said you are going to marry her."
"Ariel is a Mermaid at the aquarium park. She has a show there. I like Ariel very much and yes I want her to be Lily's mother. I asked my daughter to get closer to her so Ariel would want that to. I think a 6 year old still needs to believe in Fairytales and magic." He said.
"What are you saying then?" She asked.
"Pack your things and go. This is not working out." he then turned and walked down to his office.
Ariel was sitting holding Lily telling her a story.
"Then when everything was quite Heather and I swam very slow into the kitchen. The cake was taller then both of us. We both cut a small piece then Heather got frosting out and fixed it so you could not tell.
The next day when everyone was around to sing happy birthday to my dad the server cut the cake right where we only had frosting. She was very puzzled but nobody ever found out what happened."
"What did your dad say."
" He was puzzled to on why she did not finish cutting where she started but I'm not sure he ever found out. At least he never said anything."
She was smiling now and it melted Harrison's heart. "Mrs. Potter will be leaving tomorrow. Lily I am sorry, once again I did not listen to you and you were hurt. Both of you." He then turned to Marcus. "Can you help find a good nanny that will let Lily be a kid."
"Sure, I'll find one just as good as Ariel was." he smiled.
"Can I sleep in your room?" Lily asked.
"Sure, We need to get to bed then. You have your first day of school." Ariel said.
"Good night red. Good night Mermaid." Marcus said as they left the room.
Harrison gave Lily a kiss and watched them walk up the stairs.
"Did Lily say she did not like the nanny?" Marcus said.
"I thought she was making up lies so I would ask Ariel to come back. Mrs. Potter came highly recommended and everyone she was every a nanny for their children exceeded others."
"Lily is just like Kimmy in a lot of ways. She needs to be a kid. I'll find a good nanny but from now on if she tells you something listen to her." Marcus said.
"Thanks, I will. We were talking about the river front project before all this happened. Do you think we can do what they are asking?"
"Yes, a platform for fireworks should be easy and cameras to monitor it will also be easy. What I am unsure about is the safety of boats around it. We need someone to look in on the regulations and liabilities of this."
"I really need you here. I don't think of things like this." Harrison said handing another drink to his brother.
"I miss you and Lily but the park in Harborview needs me to right now. It is taken off. Ariel can be herself there too."
"You just want to keep her to yourself."
"No, I just want her to be happy. She has gone through a lot of crap in her life and I don't want to put more pressure on her. That is how much I love her, can you say the same? She came running to me because she trust me. Can you get her trust back and protect her?" Marcus said.
Harrison was sitting there thinking. How he was going to get all this done. He had to beat his brother in winning her heart but he was right; She trusted Marcus and not him.
"Marcus, I know you are right and I know that you really loved Kimberly since you were a child. I could not give her up and stole her away. She is and always will be my one true love. I understand that you finally opened up to someone but I can't back off the feelings I get when I am near her makes me want her too."
Marcus got up shacking his head. How did he have a brother like this. He was the youngest and he had always given his brother love and support but not any more.
"See you in the morning." he said walking out.
