Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

We headed over to where a booth was where we presumed we could sign up for the tournament. There wasn't a line so we went straight toward the front.

"Hey", Carter said to the guy in the booth, "we're here to sign up for the tournament

The guy looked at us as if we were dumb.

"The line for the tournament is over there", he pointed to behind the booth

We looked over and saw another booth that could that could have hundreds, even thousands of people waiting in line. You couldn't even see the booth clearly. After what felt like another state walked we made it to the end of the line. We asked the guy before we left how long it would probably take us to get to the front and he said about a week but we have waited longer than that for this so we could wait a little longer.

After six days we finally made it to the front of the line and to the booth.

"Hey we're here to sign up for the tournament", I said. What looked like a middle aged man looked up at us.

"So is everybody else in line, here". He handed us a slip of paper.

"Put both of your names on the paper so we know you two are on a team, you both do want to be on a team right?". We both nodded.

"Ok then before you enter here you gotta complete something before you can actually enter the tournament".

"And what is that", Carter asked.

"You'll see when you go in there", he pointed to a medium sized red building. There were many other red building's around it. "If you can't complete the challenge then you can't compete in the tournament". We both looked at the building.

"Ok then", Carter said to me while we were walking toward the red building, "let's complete this challenge so we can get into the arena where the tournament is being held".

"Yeah", I said, "let's so this with no holding back".

"Sounds fun", Carter said with a smile on his face.

We walked to the door of the building and when I was opening it I noticed it was a lot heavier than a normal door but still no problem for us. When we walked in we noticed the whole building was two floors and the top floor was a viewing deck where you can see down at the first floor. There was a pile of metal in the middle of the room. We noticed a guy sitting who looked to be in his mid twenties in a corner at a desk. We also saw that there was a door at the top floor.

"Amazed you made it here", the guy said, "most people your age wouldn't be able to open the door". I looked at the door. I did notice earlier that the door was heavier than the usual ones.

"How heavy is the door?", I asked.

"About 5 times the weight of a normal door so about 500 pounds", the man said.

"Oh, ok", I said.

"Nevermind that", the man said, "it is time for your challenge".

"Finally", Carter said with the same smile he came in with, "so whats the challenge".

"Your challenge will be to defeat these", he pointed toward a pile of metal we saw earlier. Me and Carter were both confused.

"Umm", I said, "what are we supposed to do".

"Hold on", he said, typing at a computer, "I need to start them up. After about a 10 seconds the pile started moving and out of it came 2 beefy looking robots.

"So", Carter said, the smile on his face growing larger, "we are fighting those are we".

"Yes this is a test to show if you have enough strength to fight or if you can survive long enough for our people to help. Also", he said while taking out 2 pieces of paper, "we need you to sign these". He gave us both a piece of paper.

"What is this", I asked.

"It's just a paper we give to everyone who comes in here that says if you die we are not at fault", the man explained.

"Ok", we both said and we signed our papers.

"Ok", the man said, taking back the papers, "now we can begin".
