'What should I do if somebody asks me to be a medium?' She never thought about it before. She doesn't even know if she dares to do it. In fact, she has never encountered any spirits or can see ghosts like her mother. She was actually scared of ghosts or any unseen forces, the reason she hated doing her job.
She remembered the first time she saw her mother being a medium of communication between the living and the dead.
It was one of the regular workdays in Majika Healing. Her mother was seeing her last client, and she was waiting in the back office of the shop for her to finish. She was twelve years old back then and was learning the basics of being a psychic such as reading the tarot and the crystal ball. At first, she was enjoying helping her mother in her job. Not until that night.
After a while, she got bored of waiting and decided to check out on her mother and her client in the consultation room.
Before she turned the doorknob, she pressed her ear on the door. She could hear whispers and sobs from the other leaf of the door. Her curiosity built up and opened the door a little.
What she did not expect was to see her mother's angry face. At first, she thought she was looking at her and got upset for intruding the session. She was about to close the door when she saw her mother opened her mouth and spoke. She felt all her hairs rose from their roots when she heard her voice - it was a cold and angry voice of an older man!
She stood frozen on the door for a moment; then, she heard her mother spoke again in a low bass voice. Her mother's face looks angry. Her eyes were glaring at the woman she was facing across the table. The sound that was coming from her mother's mouth was making the woman tremble in fear as well. The woman across her mother was non-stop sobbing and keeps on wiping her tear-drenched face.
She hurriedly closed the door, slightly making a noise and ran to the back-office trembling. She was sweating cold sweats. Her hands were shaking while she grabs a glass of water from the kitchenette to calm herself.
She had never seen her mother like that, and she was so scared. She knew her mother could see and communicate with beings that can not be seen by the naked eye, but it was her first time seeing her like this. She felt scared that she could not recognize her mother in the room. An older man's spirit possessed her mother!
She was not sure if her mother saw her peeking, but she never mentioned anything to her when the session was done. She acted like her usual self like nothing happened. Noraya did not dare to ask anything, afraid that her mother might get upset at her.
Since then, she hated helping her mother in the shop and got scared of encountering any unseen forces. She never mentioned to her mother what she saw on that night. It was when she was twenty years old when her mother told her that she allowed herself to be possessed or be a medium by a spirit to communicate to the living.
"Noraya?" Macrena saw Noraya's face became pale. She must be thinking something scary. "Are you okay?"
Noraya blinked a few times before completely recovering herself and looked at her.
"Are you okay? Did I say something wrong?" she asked with concern. Seeing her became quiet and pale-faced, she must have heard something scary.
Noraya shook her head a few times and cleared her throat. "Oh, no, no. I just remembered something scary. What were you saying again?"
"Ah…uhm…about the …" she hesitated to ask, seeing how she reacted earlier.
"You mean the being a medium?" Noraya knows that she is hesitating to ask about it. This woman can read her accurately, so she decided that there is no use to hide this to her. "No. I haven't tried it yet. I am scared, to be honest." She said honestly to her.
Macrena felt a little disappointed, but she saw how she reacted earlier, she must have been scared. She shrugged her shoulders. "Well, it must be a terrifying experience."

Kingdom of Akijam
Lord Mokabe was resting at the garden of his house when he saw a silhouette of a man running from the distance. He saw that the man was running towards his house. He creased his brows and stood up, walking towards the edge of the garden to see who the man is. He waited until the man reached his gate.
Mylo, the former servant of Macrena, whom he took in his house, hurried to open the gate of the house to let the man enter.
The man was still panting when he entered the vicinity of the property.
Lord Mokabe just stood there, waiting for his sudden visitor to catch his breath while making his way to the garden where he was waiting.
"Why the hurry?" He smoothly asked the man who was already breathing at an average pace.
"I am afraid someone might see me coming to you." The man bowed to him while answering his questions.
"You were sent from the palace, aren't you? Or did you come here by yourself?" He creased his brows. If this servant was sent from the palace, why would he feel scared?
"Come, let's sit inside." He pulled the man's hand, leading him to the living room of the house. "Tell me, what is the reason you came to see me?" He asked when they were in the living room and already seated.
The man swallowed his saliva first before speaking. "I came to tell something that I heard from king Matius and Lord Arwono."
He creased his brows. He knew that the news the man brought is not good news. He knew that king Matius always has something under his sleeve.
"Speak." He ordered the servant.
The servant began narrating what he heard from the conversation of Lord Arwono and King Matius the other day. "They are observing your actions, my lord." The servant finished.
He sighed and leaned his body on the chair while stroking his beard. "Isn't it enough that he already sent queen Macrena to the mortal world?"
"I presumed that the king thinks that queen Macrena has a means of contacting someone here, and they thought it was you that she would communicate with." The servant politely said.
"I am fully aware of that." He looked at the servant and nodded. "Please pay attention to them and let me know of any evil plan they are planning. Thank you for letting me know. Be careful as well." He looked at the servant. "You know you will be in trouble if they caught you spying on them."
The servant nodded. "I am doing this in the hope that queen Macrena will come back and end the evilness of her uncle. I am ready to die for the queen." The servant stood up and made a bow to Lord Makobe before leaving.
Mylo, who has been in the room with the two men the whole time, looked at Lord Mokabe and sighed. "I wonder how the queen is doing in the human world."
Mokabe looked at the worried servant standing next to him. "She should be fine. She is strong-willed so she can survive there. She just needs to look for a medium."
The servant creased her brows. "Medium, my lord?"
Mokabe was a little flustered, realizing what he just said. He looked at the confused servant. It is only him who knew that Macrena brought an Akfarr crystal to the human world to communicate with him. Even if Mylo was a loyal servant of the queen, he could not let anyone know about it.
He shook his head. It is not yet the right time for anybody to know about the crystal. He must make sure first that Macrena is doing well in the human world. "It's nothing, what was I talking about?" he chuckled and looked at the servant with a serious look.
"Mylo, what you just heard will not go out from this room. There is no need for you to get involved in this."
Mylo understood the old man and nodded with sincerity to show her loyalty to her new master. She has been a servant for a long time in the palace, serving Macrena when she was still little until she grew up and became a queen. If there is someone who feels guilty in the situation her queen was in today, it was her. Because of her curiosity, the queen was compromised to use her power to save her. Though the queen assured her that she was not blaming her, she still felt guilty about it.
"I swear not to say anything. I will do anything to help the queen Macrena back to the kingdom."
Mokabe nodded and stood up from the chair. He worried about Matius. Matius' obsession to defeat Macrena was deeply rooted in his bones. If he does not control his obsession, it might lead him to his downfall. If he keeps on keeping an eye on Macrena, he might end up doing things that were against the law of the land and would end up killed by his niece. They are the only members left of their clan, it's just sad that Matius is on the wrong side, but if they were gone, there would be a power struggle among the nobles of the kingdom. Everybody wants to be the ruler of the kingdom.
Mokabe knew that it is a bad idea to make Matius, the greedy, to be the king of Akijam, to prevent the other gods, especially the bad ones eyeing the throne, they must do it. He will help Macrena to find her way back to the kingdom and take back the throne. But before that, he must find out first who murdered the human being during that day, that made Macrena to be banished to the human world.
He just hopes that Matius will be contended sitting on the throne and will not make any trouble until Macrena comes back. It will be worse if Matius has something to do with the killing of the human and framing the queen. He knows that Macrena will not stand by it.
Mokabe released a sigh. He hopes that Macrena will find a medium to use as soon as possible.

The day went by in the Majika Healing shop without a single client.
Noraya, who was sitting on the sofa in the backroom, sighed in boredom. "Another boring day passed by."
She looked at her, 'Here she is again, the grumpy lady.' She thought and smiled. "Is it always like this?" she did not mean anything, just asking, she hopes that she will not get offended.
Noraya sighed again. "What can I say, it's always like this. I'm lucky if I can have two clients in a day! Sometimes I thought about selling the shop already. If not only for my mother."
"Your mother was a psychic too?"
"She was the best during her time. This place was usually full every day." Noraya's face lit up, remembering her mother.
She nodded; she did not know that her mother was a seer too. Maybe she inherited her mother's gift of divination.
"My mother was so good at it. She specializes in communicating with the spirits." She excitedly bragged about her mother's fame as a psychic when she was still alive.
"I remember she told me a story about a goddess who came to this world and asked for her help. I still don't believe to this day, though."
Macrena creased her eyebrows. "A goddess?" Why does suddenly she felt her nerves were tensed, and her stomach knotted?
"Yeah, she said there was this beautiful woman she met at the door front of the shop. She introduced herself as a goddess from another world." Noraya chuckled. "My mother was seeing and communicating with a lot of spirits that she sometimes gets confused, so sometimes she mixed up their stories."
However, for Macrena, her instinct was telling her that Noraya's mother's story was not just a made-up story, but there was a connection with her dream about her mother walking through the portal. She has a strong feeling that the goddess that Noraya's mother was talking about was her mother. That her mother visited this world and came back to the Akijam. But how? That, she needs to know.
"Did your mother told the name of the goddess?" Her heart was beating fast. She tried to slow down her breathing, her anxiousness to hear the story was making her hold her breath and lightheaded.
