Alita and I trained together as our mothers are best friends. Alita's mother, Airlia Alvina Althea, trained me in the ways of healing while Mother taught me how to control my shifting on a full moon. Together they taught Alita and me how to cast spells and brew potions. I quickly learn how to transform back and forth at will on a full moon and I excel in spells. I suck at making potions but luckily I'm great at tracking down the necessary ingredients.
"Don't worry my little wolf, you'll learn." Mother says to me with a big happy grin. I sigh, frustrated that I can't understand potions but I can understand spells better than any witch. I'm constantly creating new spells, for example, I created a spell that can turn an ordinary object into a living creature. I had to turn them all back later but that's the fun of making spells, you get to learn a new one to undo the original spell.
Alita looks over at me, "We're the complete opposites! I excel at potions and you excel at spells." she says happily.
"Yeah…" I say looking towards the woods. Every day that I'm away from the pack is another day spent forgetting what Father taught me. I sigh and close my eyes, trying hard to remember what it was Father first taught me.
Mother notices how I look at the woods. "You're forgetting what you learned with your father aren't you?" she asks and I nod. Mother and Airlia head inside to make a potion for me and when they come back I have moved a few feet closer to the woods. "My little wolf, drink this," Mother says, enticing me to drink the foul-smelling potion. I sneeze but drink it anyway. I start to have flashbacks.
