Chapter 18 - Chapter 17

"Good luck." Shoving the book to my chest she walked away with her familiar. Cover of it was so worn the letters were barely readable. Putting it back, I went back to my office. Settling down in my chair I went over her application for the school. Neat hand writing, correct spelling, and proper vocabulary. Looking at the work she turned in, difference between hand writing and vocabulary. On the paper she sounds like a ideal student for the academy. Bright, enthusiastic, and intuitive not at all the person he knows. Klaus looked where it was set from, Lograyith. Finding his book on Gedonelune settlements he....didn't find it. Flipping through the pages of one he read the next, then the next. Coming up blank each time. Checking again he still couldn't find it. Slamming the book closed, dragging my hands on my face. Breathing through them, I let my thoughts run. I dug out the housing for the students, finding her room number I check who her room mate is. Feeling a little calmer, I waited.

Twirling the pen I re-read the paper. Deciding on the words to write, Areto wrote down the paragraph. Done, shaking my hand I fell back in the chair. It protested but I still went limb in it. Leaves started to coat the ground outside. Placing the paper in the folder, I got some juice. Klaus was gone when I woke up. Glaceing around I popped the lid. 'His been stressing alot lately'

Klaus' desk is a mess and for once it seems that his lost. Papers everywhere, crumpled up and thrown out. Putting things together I found the pouch I got his medicine in. Empty, 'This didn't last long'

Organizing the files Areto found the book again, checking it for paperwork. A page caught my eye, split between two pages it held a picture of a great tree. On one side its flourishing people where standing beneath it, on the other it's dead they are hanging. "Find something" the door to the office opened. Closing it behind him Klaus' shrugged off his cloak. Stumbling on his feet he fell to the floor. Rushing over, I positioned him against the wall. Waving me off "I'm fine." Klaus' nose started to bleed. "No your not your over stressing, it's causing a magrine." Rushing over to a table I got some tissues, "Your studying medical magic now." Holding them to his nose he replaced my hand with his. "No, it's obvious. Your never this disheveled." Pointing to his desk and jumbled work. "Send my owl to get more meds." Klaus wiped the the last of the blood away, putting the tissues in the bin. "I have a feeling I'll need them." Standing on shaky legs I helped him to his chair. "What is going on?" Grabbing on to anything that was nearby, including the wall he explained. "My buddy doesn't do most of her classes, she is like a competent child. Doesn't do anything I tell her to, denies my help." Sitting in the chair he wavers a little, pushing him back. "If she doesn't pick it up, it will reflect on me and my future."

"Did you try starting over?" Areto asked him. Taking a intake of air, Klaus rubbed his temples. "I can't turn back time. Have no need to." Putting money in the pouch and giving the it to the owl. I watched it fly to town. "Didn't mean it like that." Jacking the window to stay open, "I meant like re-intoducing yourself. Without the formality."

"I'll give that a try next I see her." Klaus sat up straight. He glanced at the book I opened. 'That isn't the only thing on his mind'
