Chapter 10 - Chapter 9

Coming awake to a hard surface beneath her Salenne moved slightly, feeling soft texture underneath she moved closer to it. "Are you awake yet?" Hearing a loud voice above her she quickly got up. Klaus is fully awake, with a arm around my waist.

"What where doing?" she shouted.

"Keeping you warm." He answered. Standing up she glared at him. "And why would you "feel" the need to keep me warm?" Fixing her uniform, and her hair she kept her distance from him. "You where shivering, don't want you to catch a cold." Getting up he ruffled out his cloak. "My health is not your concern." I told him. "I can't have you getting sick when you are on provisional leave." He said back. "Why worried you prestigious bloodline will get a scandal if one of you is held back."

"You clung to me all night."

"Shove it somewhere." She strode out the greenhouse, letting the door close by itself.

Klaus's point of view

Her hair is beautiful, black as night and soft like silk. He played with it while she slept. Clinging to him in her sleep, he did the same thing. Waking up freezing, he saw her curled up. Knowing he couldn't afford for her to get sick he laid next to her, laying his cloak on them like a make shift blanket. Falling back asleep with her hair in between his fingers.

The smell of early morning fall and crisp air entered his nose, imprinting on his mind. He came awake to movement. Snuggling on his chest, Salenne was still peacefully asleep. *She looks so innocent.* Klaus thought. Running his hand through her hair like he did last night, he remembers the scar on her neck. Moving her collar he got a better look. Her bird was looking at him from a honeysuckle tree. Tilting it's head it just stared. Familiars are creatures that are bound to their witch or wizard in a manner all unique to themselves. Ethier by contract, magic, or fate. Familiars are a symbol of a witch or wizard magic capabilities. Seeing his fair share of them, they all have a look and personality of their own. "How did Salenne aquire you?" Starring at him, the bird went back to grooming itself. Salenne's head twitch grabbing his vest she buried her head on Klaus's chest. Hearing a whistle he looked to it's source. Her bird was whistling, I don't recognize the tune. Singing the melody, Salenne relaxed as the song went on. Snuggling closer to him she moved her hand. "Are you up yet?" I asked.

She stormed out of the greenhouse like it was on fire. Walking back to the main building, Klaus fixed his disheveled appearance. Straighten his tie and running his hands through his hair he picking out a twig. "Yo, Klaus!" Hearing a shout ahead of him he blocked the sun out with his hand. Randy came rushing towards him. Catching his breath Randy came to a halt in front of him. "It happened again." Signaling him to lead the way he lead Klaus to the fountain courtyard. Dead birds littered the ground. A few of others were there already, including some from night class. "What did you find?" I asked. "Same as last time, but more birds. The sigil is over there." Vincent answered pointing towards the side of the wall. Out of site and secluded the sigil was starting to turn to dust. "Klaus, I completed the list of suspects that might have something to do with this." Taking the lost, Klaus scanned it. His name and Elias' are on it. "Why is Elias' and my name on the list?" He asked. "You studied dark magic, and Elias is saying he wants power. Compared to you if he can't get it one way, he might get it another way." Noticing how right the student was, I couldn't come up with a good defense. "Who would do something like this in the first place." Vincent came up to my side, kneeling down he got a closer look. "How has your research been going?" Vincent asked while hovering his tattoo arm over what is left of the sigil. "Bits and pieces nothing truly solid, yet." Klaus responded.

"What about your buddy?" Vincent asked standing up.

Dreading the answer he reluctantly answered "Her and I are not on good terms at the moment."
