Chapter 3 - Ground Zero

I woke up later and rolled over to look at my clock. 10:30 AM! Why hadn't my dad woken me up yet? I walk down the hall and into his room where I found him passed out with empty bottles strewn across the floor. Okay, I guess I'm not getting a ride today. I take a shower and get dressed, before I grab my bike and start traveling to school. Once I get to school, I park my bike in a bike rack and head inside. All the hallways are quiet, probably because everyone is in class, but it still feels ominous. I walk to my locker and grab my Chemistry book, when 5 football players come from around the corner. Troy and his friends all grab me and start dragging me down the hall. I try to fight them off, but there's too many of them. Once we get to the end of the hallway, they open the door and take me outside to the back of the school. Troy pulls out a pocket knife, and all of the others tighten their grip on me. "This is payback for you ruining me kid! Now I'm going to ruin you!" Troy drives the knife right into my left eye, and I scream out in pain. "What a pussy, he can't even take a tiny knife." Troy and his friends all start laughing. "Leave him here." I lay on the concrete alone. My head feels like my brain was put through a blender, and all I see is my blood painting the pavement. Then darkness. I'm not sure how long I was asleep for, but when I wake up it's dark outside. I law there for awhile and cry, before I get up and call my dad. Three rings, and then voicemail. He's so useless! I take a deep breath and start walking home. Once I get to my house, the first thing I notice is the front door is still unlocked. The second thing I notice is more bottles are on the floor in his room. I sigh and make myself a sandwich before going to my room and laying down in my bed. I decide to play the new virtual reality game Gladiators for a bit. When I put the headset on I felt a huge zap in my brain, and then the headset turned off. Dammit, my headset must've broke. I pull out my phone instead, and listen to music until I fall asleep.
