Chapter 17 - The Ocean and The Sun

(Note as far as I know, there aren't any element gods or goddesses. This is completely fiction.)

Once upon a time, gods and goddesses walked among us. Four of them still do. They are the four elements; Aqua, goddess of water, Terra, goddess of earth, Ignis, god of fire, and Caeli, god of air. Each were told to stay far away from their opposite. But, Aqua got too curious. She followed the rivers to were the sunsets. Not wanting to get caught, Aqua hides in some bushes as she watched. As Aqua watched the sun go down. The silhouette of a man caught her eye. Once the sun had left, so did he. Aqua walked back to her riverbed. As she returned, the urge to see him again weld up inside her.

For three months, Aqua watched the sunset and the man leave for the day. Aqua was making a few water lilies when a man approached her. "Aqua, have you been following the sun?" She never met this man before. "Yes, I have." Aqua said ashamed. The man sighed, "I am Ignis! The god who guides the sun! Why do you follow me?" "Because of its beauty. It paints beautiful colors across the sky." Ignis smiled a gentle blue flame lit upon his head. After that encounter, Aqua walked with Ignis all day and watches him leave every night. This repeated for two years.

Once the higher gods found out, they lased out on them. Only one stayed quiet. When they finished, the two were banished to two mountains. Ignis to the south and Aqua to the north but, in the end, Aqua had the last laugh. Before the separation, the two held each other and swore their undying love for each other. Aqua quickly found that she was pregnant. Once her baby was born, the god wished to know who the father was. Aqua happily said, my dearest flame is the father to my child. Out raged they took her child and sealed her underground, in the desert.

Aqua ended up crying so much, she made an ocean of tears. As for Ignis, in fear that he'd find her they sealed him in the sun. However, they failed to separate them completely. At sunset, the sun gently touches the ocean, and that is the only time they can see each other again. The child became a god of karma. The gods that took him from his mother were punished. The young god spends the day on the sun with his father and the night under the ocean with his mother. That is where the ocean and the sun meet for all four elements to be at peace.
