While in Nicolas's car after a moment of silence.
"Do you know where is Georgy's group?" asked Nicolas.
"They are coming soon, they have just found a car and are charging it with all they can." Answered Lexie while typing on her smartphone.
"Did you tell them the next step of the plan?"
Lexie lifted her head and looked at Nicolas, "I tentatively introduced some hint, I did not dare to tell them everything."
"hmm" Nicolas did not answer, he was just chatting to release a bit of his stress.
Lexie though he was disappointed so she added, "I am not sure if it is a good idea to tell them by text. Your idea of going to France is a bit too scary, and talking about zombies seriously is not easy you know."
"Yes, I understand, we'll talk about this later." He answered mindlessly focusing on his surroundings.
"Holy shit!" Nicolas exclaimed at loud.
"Look over there, the Gateway towers! They have been shot down by a meteorite, even the new towers in front of it! It seems two meteorites fell there!"
"Oh my god, poor people, look at this, they have no chance to survive that!" Lexie was shocked by the sight.
"I used to work in the west tower for a few months. Since this is Sunday they must have been very few people inside. But what worries me is Suntech City behind. Looking at the angle, it seems one of the meteorites only destroyed the top of the building and went that way. This place must have been packed since we're Sunday." Nicolas was even more stressed now.
"Oh God, Suntec City is this way? Then you're right, if the people there are exposed to the meteorite, then we will have to face a lot of zombies, right? Should we tell the others?"
"Yes, we should" Nicolas un-muted his phone and started to tell what they have just witnessed.
On the other side, the two groups who were gathering supplies felt even more under pressure.
"What do you think we should do?" asked Baptiste through the phone.
"From where I am, I don't see anything suspicious, but who knows? I would advise to either shorten the supply gathering or at least quicken the pace." Nicolas' felt helpless, on one hand, this place could provide them quite a few important things, but on the other, their safety was their priority."
"On our side, we have already secured the maps, and a few books that could be useful later if we lose the internet, we have decided to come back now," Geoffrey on the 3rd floor was already taking the way to the exit followed closely by Delphine. He finished "Let's meet at the south exit, at the corner, in front of the National Library."
'They sure run fast, to be able to get to the 3rd floor and gather the maps so quickly!' thought Nicolas smiling, when suddenly he got startled seeing in the distance lots of green trucks, "Holy shit! Guys, I think we should regroup now indeed, I see a lot of military vehicles going into the direction of Suntech City!" Nicolas did not wait and made the turn to reach the rendezvous point.
"Ok, we will join you there," said Baptiste.
Five minutes later Geoffrey and Delphine were already in the car, looking quite proud of their booty.
"I think we have most of the needed things you asked," said Delphine panting, waiting for a thank you.
"That's great, we never know if later we will lose our GPS or other stuff, this could be a life saviour. Thank you! I am quite impressed by the speed of both of you by the way!" Nicolas knew that Delphine was someone who needed a lot of attention and praise, and praise was a currency that he did not lack at the moment!
Lexie took it quite seriously, "this is indeed impressive, you found the library so fast! I would have been lost at least a hundred times if I had to go there myself, haha!"
Delphine was radiating with happiness, she was first quite annoyed to go loot whatever Nicolas wanted, but now, she felt both useful and appreciated.
"I see Baptiste and the other coming, get ready to leave." Nicolas was staring at the left mirror.
A minute later the small convoy was ready to leave.
"So, is Georgy around?" asked Nicolas impatiently.
"Yes, she is calling me, wait for a second," answered Lexie.
"Allo, allo" "…" "Ok, we are about to leave" "…" "Ok" "…". Lexie was speaking to her phone, then she addressed the people in the car. "They are saying they will be there in 30 seconds, they are coming from Middle Road."
"Great! Tell them to turn right in Victoria Street and we will be on the side of the road." Nicolas pressed the accelerator, using the green light to cross Middle Road in front of him and pull over again in front of the national library.
Less than a minute later, a van stopped at the same level as our primary group. Georgy was with her flatmates and a few others, the van was packed!
"Let's go!"
The three cars took the direction of their final destination.
The 10 minutes ride to River City condo was quiet, they did not find any problems. Sometimes they could say that in the distance some places might not be safe anymore seeing the fumes of a meteorite crash, this made some of them quite stressed.
They even could catch sight of more and more firetruck, police cars and other governmental services filling the roads. But it was still quite deserted as the meteorite shower was not over yet, so most people were still hiding.
"I am still wondering why nobody stopped us," Nicolas said, just before pulling over the condo.
"Why can't you just be happy about it, now that you're saying it, we will surely have problems later!" Lexie was not happy at all, she strongly believes in the law of attraction and raising red flag like this was asking for trouble.
Upon arriving at the condo, the parking entrance was free to access, the barrier was up. The security personnel was very likely hiding somewhere.
The cars went around the buildings and parked next to the access of Jesper flat, their temporary host.
