Elanga entered the room as her Bae called her; as soon as she entered the room she yelled at the top of her voice as she saw the horrid sight of panubok hanged in her Bae's tapestry. She just fell on the ground as if someone from other chamber mocked her lady. She hastily ran off to where her lady could be, and she was just surprised that her lady put a stern face.
"Bae, your panubok was.."
"It is indeed beautiful isn't it?"
"But Bae, someone must stole your panubok, look it was a horrible panubok hanged there," pointing the panubok she referred to.
"It really flustered my heart that it frightens you Elanga." Maylin remarked as she directed her gaze at the panubok. "I can guarantee no man could ever want me."
Realizing the riddles of her bae, she realized what it meant. The presentation of panubok is a test of choosing a maiden to be tied to other household. The more noble and princes choose, the more the bae is priced fairly to be fought over.
She could not fathom what her Bae could think; despising the festival itself that she should felt honored. Her wise bae is sometimes as hard as the elders bugtong of her folk; too complicated to comprehend. Elanga was with the Bae since she was bought and brought to the manor and served her as well. No matter how close she may be to the distinguished bae, she somehow unable to know her well. She was just happy and contented enough to know that her bae never make her feel as a slave; instead her closest friend which makes her more attached and devoted to her Bae. No matter how hard her bae could be, she will forever respond to her command and treated her bae as her empress.
The panubok wrapped with clothe was placed before the noble lords and princes. There was clamouring of how to choose a maiden judging with their greatest skill in panubok making. The slaves carefully unwrapped the cloth and presented the panubok before them. Most of the panubok are of the finest, every noble lady and princess is taught well symbolizing how keen they could run the household in the future. Some displayed creativity showing off the maiden's character of playfulness; some with complicated patterns showing how intelligent the maiden could be; some with gentleness and elegance the very nature of the true maiden, but one panubok is too complicated to show the character of the bae, making a war scenery as pattern could indicate a bad dream for the lady that she weave that served as bad omen for most noble. The maiden must have terrible look, says the noble lord of Gayo; she must be bad-tempered replied the other; she is inappropriate to be wed to nobles nor prince would like to bargain to choose it. The nobles and princes choose the finest panubok and disregard Maylin's panubok; afraid that the certain lady could bring misfortune to their household.
