"Sherrie!" It was Lorna's voice interrupted her book sorting knowing her shift in the library ended and could spare her more time to study her lesson. She neatly keeps her things in her bag and started to go to her secret place where she could have a time for herself. While going towards the field where she could sat one of the benches under the shades of Lawaan trees, she heard the group of girls giggling past in opposite directions at her; wished she too could have a company and not be drown in her solace. Arriving in her favorite spot during lunch time, she started to unwrap her lunch and started to gobble them up but a crisp snap from a dry twig behind her delayed her lunch.
"Sherrie?" it was definitely Robert's voice she heard and she quickly covered her lunch wrapped in banana leaf.
"I didn't expect I could see you here. I'm sorry if I interrupted your lunch, may I sit with you?"
She dusted off the other end of the bench and awkwardly looked at him.
"Why do I keep looking that frightening face of yours whenever I saw you or bumped into you of all places?"
She put into halt in surprise.
"Did I somehow annoy you?"
"No, it was just..,"
"Aha, do I look like one of the goons in the petty outskirts of the town?"
She shook her head amusingly as she tried to communicate to him as well.
"Or do I look like your neighbor who had a century long list of debts in your family?"
"No. Why would you have debt in my family?" she replied and started to laugh.
"See? I'm not that even scary. I am somehow relief to see you laughing."
"I was just getting embarrassed from that day. Most of the students had a bad impression of me before I get started the class. I am always get trouble because I get nervous easily." she respond and clear things to Robert.
"Well, I am one of those recency effect impressionist, you can guarantee I will not spread how unfortunate we were that day." he replied.
"So can we have a lunch together? I am really hungry right now."
"I'm…"
"I will spread rumors you assaulted me that day if you leave me behind." he jokingly said at her and see how threaten she were. "No, I was kidding. I saw you were about to have lunch but I interrupted so why can't we have lunch together then?"
She wanted to decline but her stomach growled that he could even heard it.
"I believe you could not make that stomach of yours, angry. Couldn't you?"
"Okay," she said and had a lunch with him under the shades of Lawaan trees while the wind gently brushed the leaves. While focused on eating her lunch, she didn't notice that Robert stared and amused how she could eat well without getting him caught staring. 'She could really eat well,' he thought and started to eat his lunch with him as well.
