Su Han watched Qiao Yushan leave, without even a chance to speak, and with his backpack, he walked toward the Qiao Corporation's First Hospital.
During his five years at university, Su Han was mostly on leave, studying medicine and martial arts with an old Taoist in the deep mountains. Because of this, he hadn't earned enough credits and was advised to leave by the school.
This internship itself was also obtained through connections by the old Taoist. Su Han felt somewhat helpless, having become a beneficiary of nepotism.
The Qiao Corporation's First Hospital was the largest private hospital in Tianhai City, well-funded and rich in medical resources, one of the biggest industries under the Qiao Corporation.
Qiao Yushan was the current president of the Qiao Corporation. Under her leadership, the Qiao Corporation had achieved remarkable success in the medical field.
But for her, the biggest failure was an irresistible arranged marriage to someone who hadn't even graduated from college.
When Su Han arrived at the Qiao Corporation's First Hospital, he asked several people before finally locating the human resources department.
Director Liu Cheng, sitting in the office, couldn't help but laugh when he heard that Su Han hadn't graduated from college. He glanced at the introduction letter and then tossed it aside.
"Since you were introduced by the Qiao Family, we naturally have to arrange a position for you," Liu Cheng squinted his eyes, staring at Su Han, tapping his fingers on the desk, "But here at Qiao Corporation's First Hospital, even the nurses have at least a bachelor's degree. This... puts me in a difficult position."
As he spoke, his eyes filled with contempt. Beneficiaries of nepotism couldn't be competent. Want to be a doctor? Dream on!
Su Han remained calm. Seeing that Director Liu didn't seem keen on arranging anything for him, he said nothing. After all, he hadn't graduated from college, and even though he had spent five years learning from the Divine Doctor, that didn't prove anything.
"How about this? The lobby is short of a guide. Would you mind starting there?" Director Liu laughed, grinning with a mocking look in his eyes, "It's always good for young people to get some experience. You wouldn't believe how many people covet that position at the information desk!"
Su Han could tell that Director Liu was just getting rid of him, but he said nothing and nodded, "Alright, the information desk then, thank you, Director Liu."
If he refused to continue this internship arranged by the old Taoist, he would surely get a thrashing when he returned home, even though his abilities had now surpassed his mentor's. Still, he couldn't raise his hand against an elderly man.
Seeing that Su Han hadn't gotten angry, Director Liu scorned him even more, thinking that if he had assigned Su Han a role that required technical skills, he probably wouldn't have been up to the task.
"It seems this young man is somewhat self-aware." Director Liu sneered inwardly, haphazardly stuffing the introduction letter into an envelope and then calling someone to take Su Han to process his paperwork.
After getting his uniform from the logistics department and handing over the necessary documents for onboarding, Su Han spent the entire morning getting everything sorted.
By the afternoon, a man in a nurse's uniform appeared at the hospital's reception lobby door. Su Han stood in front of the information desk, watching the patients come and go, slightly at a loss.
"A new guy?" A few young nurses standing to the side looked at Su Han with surprise and couldn't help but laugh, "When did we get male nurses?"
"I'm not a nurse, I'm here as an intern doctor." Su Han said somewhat awkwardly, nodding with a smile. Glancing around, it seemed that all the guides were indeed female nurses, making his presence there quite odd.
"A doctor? Doctors don't usually work at information desks." One of the pretty nurses covered her mouth and giggled, seeing that Su Han looked neat and presentable, and feeling rather favorable toward him, she suggested, "You just started, you're not familiar with the job here, just stand aside and watch for a while."
Su Han nodded gratefully and smiled at the nurses.
The work at the information desk wasn't complex, but it required a great deal of patience and a consistently calm demeanor to respond to patients' inquiries and facilitate their medical visits.
It took a while, but Su Han finally understood the workflow and content, and also became acquainted with several nurses.
"I really didn't expect you were actually here to be a doctor, but you didn't even graduate from university." One of the young nurses said somewhat surprised, how could someone be a doctor without a university degree?
Su Han could only smile; he really didn't know how to answer that question.
"Okay, quit picking on him. He just got out of school; he needs your care," the pretty young nurse said with a gentle laugh, appearing pure and captivating, immediately prompting the other nurses to tease her about whether she was fond of Su Han.
While they were chatting, suddenly a loud yell came from the doorway.
"Move aside! Move aside quickly!"
Several people hurriedly pushed a stretcher into the room. The man leading them, from his clothing and demeanor, evidently had a high status and emanated an air of leadership. Yet at this moment, he was utterly anxious, nervously looking at the elderly man on the stretcher.
"Dad! Dad! Hold on, it's going to be okay, you will definitely be fine!" The middle-aged man, holding the elderly man's hand, looked up and shouted, "Where is the doctor? Call the doctor quickly!"
Su Han watched as they pushed the elderly man into the emergency room. Soon, Director Liu arrived, and the hospital's leadership came as well, and they also summoned the hospital's two most renowned senior consultant doctors.
Outside the emergency room, the middle-aged man was extremely anxious, pacing back and forth, filled with self-reproach and guilt.
From a distance, Su Han could not help but ask, "Who is that person? So much commotion, even hospital leaders have arrived?"
The pretty nurse lowered her voice and said, "That elderly man, I heard he served in the military when he was young, killed countless enemies on the battlefield, a hero who dared to block gun ports for victory. In his old age, however, he's afflicted with many injuries and illnesses; it's quite pitiful to look at."
Su Han's heart trembled, an old soldier?
A man who dared to block gun ports for his country? That's truly heroic! Such a person, he deserved Su Han's admiration and respect!
Before Su Han could react, a voice from the emergency room already echoed, "What? You say he can't be saved? Say that again to me!"
Director Liu, grabbed by the shirt by the middle-aged man, didn't dare to struggle and chuckled awkwardly, "I'm really sorry. Both of the senior consultants have tried their best, but..."
Director Liu's mind was in chaos, failing to save this elderly man. If the middle-aged man became angry, he feared the hospital might even be dismantled!
The hospital leaders, standing to the side, didn't dare to speak, letting Director Liu bear the brunt, while both senior consultants also looked helpless. At this point, even they were powerless to reverse the situation.
The middle-aged man, eyes red, suddenly turned around and knelt down towards the emergency room.
"Dad! I'm sorry!"
His kneeling startled the hospital leadership, Director Liu, and the two senior consultants; seeing the middle-aged man accept reality, they knew at least he wouldn't blame the hospital anymore.
"Let me try,"
Suddenly, a gentle voice spoke up. Su Han walked over and stood in front of the middle-aged man, looking down slightly at him, "I can save him."
