Chapter 49 - 4 Hours To Be A Sad Potatoe

After writing her argument, Tang Fei hurried home. Yaoyao was currently going out with a few coworkers after a photo shoot, so she had the apartment to herself until 8. That was 4 hours to do whatever!

Feeling a burst of energy she almost bounced the whole way up the apartment complex's stairs, elevators were off limits for a while. Soon she found her way at the door, and pulling out her keycard the door crisply opened with a click.

"Ahhh, I'm finally home!"

With a small cry, Tang Fei entered the apartment and promptly stretched her tired body. Since she had 4 hours of time she might as well become a couch potato for a bit! Having that idea in mind she changed from her professional white button up shirt and pencil skirt into a large white T-Shirt and some sweatpants, and flopped onto the soft black sofa.

Flipping through all the channels she stopped on one particular drama. It was about a young woman whose family had been ruined and had to endure a life of hardship, but met a rich young businessman who changed her life. "How cheesy, another Cinderella story." She shook her head, but if you erased the hot businessman it sounded a bit like her.

Tang Fei's family had originally been quite wealthy, but after her father got cheated in a business deal, the company went bankrupt ;and their style of living quickly plummeted.

So, at an early age Tang Fei decided in order to be able to support herself and her family she'd study hardto become successful and rich.

Focusing on this goal she ignored things like romance and making friends, and devoted herself to knowledge. Nan Peiyao had been the only person she was really close with in her youth, since most saw her as blunt and cold ; a complete opposite to her somewhat cheery personality now. So this lifestyle of all work and no play continued until she entered law school at 20 years old.

When she entered the prestigious law school she thought she'd be just as alone as she was in college, but a boy named Yan Weixian was determined to become her friend. She had originally intended to ignore him, but he was persistent and they eventually became close.

In fact she was not always unconquerable, in some ways Yan Weixian was her true "first love". They would spend hours on the phone talking, go to all kinds of places and events, and do all kinds of crazy things. Eventually, Tang Fei felt her world brightened a bit each day with him, and found herself smiling more and more often.

One night Yan Weixian had invited her out to go have fun, and she accepted. He had taken her to a popular club, and asked her to wat for him a bit. But after a while she felt nature's call, and made her way to the bathroom. While she was on the way, she ended up seeing Yan Weixian talking to someone in the halls corner.

Somewhat curious she had listened in to hear the conversation, but was subsequently shocked at what she heard.

"I brought Tang Fei, so make sure to have your fun with her, but I want my share

too." A laugh came from Yan Weixian as he continued. "I swear she was way to easy to trick! Always acting so cold, but all it took was a little kindness, and she'd willingly come to this club."

As if in a trance Tang Fei stepped forward with a mixture rage, disbelief, and hurt brewing inside her, and moved to beat up Yan Weixian. She was never completely unconquerable, but afterwards her chances of love became almost nonexistent.

To cope with the betrayal she had decided to smile and be cheerful, but never let anyone else in. Making defenses so string it'd take an arm6 to break them down, so how the boss got in was a mystery. Maybe he just happened to slip in through a crack?

"Hah, isn't my life depressing."

She sighed. How was she supposed to be a potato if she was sad? A sad potato is just… sad. Oh well she had some ice cream in the fridge, a few more novels to finish, and around 4 hours left alone, she'd live. Maybe gain a few pounds, but who cares....
