Chapter 98 - cliche motivation stuff

'Damn, I don't want to do this. Then again, I always wanted to do this.'

Alex argued with himself. He stretched his legs and took a running position.

Using electricity to increase the force was a brilliant idea, but it's a double-edged blade. The body shatters under the effect. He was about to use the technique, which was the most lethal to him.

--GO!!

Alex took off with immense speed. Just from the start, the concrete road cracked. He broke the fastest human speed record in a moment.

He kept running and became faster and faster. He reached a speed of 100 kmph.

--Faster.

He kept accelerating and reached 200 kmph. Not yet.

He sped up to 300 kmph. Tiny sparks of electricity arose from his body. With this speed, he could smoothly run on water, which he did to reach England. Alex reached 400 kmph, and the solid road was about to end. His hair was repelling each other and stood up. The electricity intensified.

--Secret technique number 1!

'Sonic Boom!!'

The road was turned into debris with Alex's last step. A thunderous sound was generated from breaking the sound barrier.

Vanessa saw a blue comet disappear like a bullet.

--Please reach.

She continued fighting. All she could do was place her hope on Alex.

'This isn't enough.'

Alex was literally running across the Pacific ocean. His hair stood like spikes due to the electricity.

He increased the current coursing through his body.

'Shit.'

Alex clenched his teeth to bear the screaming pain.

--Faster.

He kept going faster and faster. The pain kept increasing to an unacceptable level. The water parted as he ran.

'Not yet.'

Alex increased the current more. He could feel his heart beat faster and faster. The blood pressure kept rising. Blood started coming from his mouth. His body kept healing, but it was being torn apart faster.

--More.

His body begged him to stop.

Alex wore the agonizing armour of electricity. His eyes flashed electric blue. After running 1500 kilometers in minutes, he could see three small dots up ahead.

'There they are.'

Cracks had appeared in his bones despite the healing. He felt his heart would explode any second. Alex took out the gun and managed to reach the missiles.

--I hope this works.

What Alex said about stopping the missiles was purely theoretical. He wasn't sure if it would actually work. Alex had already set the dial on Emp. The rockets were only 10 meters above the ocean. China would have never detected them.

Alex did a quick math and aimed just ahead of the head of the last missile. He had to shoot it in an instant or else aiming will ruin his running form, not to mention he couldn't afford to miss.

Alex held his breath and shot, thankfully it worked. In a few seconds, the engine had shut down, and the missile sank into the water after skipping some distance.

'Great, this can work.'

Everyone was doing everything they could to take over the ship as fast as possible. The battle was fierce. Asuna's and Hikaru's men were ordered to take over the building, which they did. After that, they were ordered to return. With no reinforcement, it was 4 against 40.

Alex reached the second missile and took aim. He could feel the cracks in his body getting deeper. His flesh burned from the electricity. He shot, and the bullet hit its target.

Now only one remained. Only a few minutes were left till the missile reached Fuzhou. The pain was causing Alex to lose consciousness. He only had to bear it a little longer. Blood was spilling everywhere.

Alex desperately got close to the final missile. His body was exhausted and pleaded for a rest. He was able to make his shaky arm steady aimed just ahead of the head. With his last strength, he pulled the trigger.

*Crack*

Alex's body collapsed. The missile went ahead, and Alex was left at the mercy of the ocean.

--It's alright.....You did your best…..You did more than you could…. Nobody will blame you…..

Alex was asleep in the arms of the currents.

'Vanessa, formation 32. Provide cover.'

Vanessa jumped on the guards. She used his shoulder to climb higher and rained bullets to provide a bullet armour to Jason.

'This is foolish. One can achieve everything on his own. I do not need friends.'

Jason's memory played back when he was still a stubborn moron.

'You're right. But I'm not strong like you, so I need friends. Please be my friend.'

'Alex!'

Alex jumped on Jason. Cuddling his face. Irritating the Shit out of Jason.

--He is an idiot.

Jason smashed the glass and got into the main room. The glass cut his skin, but he didn't notice. He was focused on taking control of the ship's main room.

'Asuna slide below.'

Hikaru shouted. Asuna slid between the enemy legs as Hikaru used his empty gun to hit him out of the ship.

'I swear to protect you until I breathe my last breath, Asuna.'

On that faithful day when Hikaru and Asuna were attacked by Jira in the petting zoo. After Asana shot the man, Hikaru made that promise to her. He didn't hear a pledge in return, nor could he say, "because I Love you!"

He wasn't ready. To him, he wasn't good enough for her yet. Alex was blocking the path. He swore to himself that he would one day surpass Alex and then confess his true feelings.

--You better not fail or die till I surpass you.

Hikaru kicked the guard, throwing him overboard. Alex dreamt peacefully with the ocean as his bed.
