Gon and Killua are silent. I sigh.
Esther: "Enough with the emotional stuff, let's go explore some more before going to bed!"
Before I could get up, I feel a dangerous vibe targeting us. We turn to look, but it's gone.
"Something wrong?"
We turn to look and it's the Raccoon man.
Gon: "Ah, Mr. Netero… Did you see anyone coming from that side?"
"No."
Killua: "You're pretty fast for an old man."
"That little trick? I barely moved."
I can feel the tension between Killua and Raccoon.
Killua: "What do you want? You don't have to do anything until the last phase right?"
"No need to be so unkind. I got bored, and was looking for some companions. By the way, I mean to ask you 3…any thoughts on your first attempt at the hunter examination?"
Gon: "It's fun! And there haven't been any of the written exams I was dreading."
Killua: "I'm disappointed, I expected the exam to be much more difficult. I assume the next phase will be more exciting?"
Esther: "And I'm in pain. Do you know how many times I've threw up during the hunter exam? If I wanted to throw up, I'd try eating cooked fish with an unidentified plant and become paralyzed all night long again!"
"Well now, how peculiar indeed."
Killua: "Let's go guys."
"Now, wait a moment. Would you care to play a game with me?"
Gon: "Game?"
"If you are able to defeat me, then I shall let you become hunters."
Gon: "Really? I'll play!"
Killua turns to look back at Mr. Raccoon. He doesn't answer, neither do i.
"How about it, eh?"
Killua: "Fine old man."
Esther: "I won't play, but I'll go watch. I'm tired from today."
"Alrighty then."
Mr. Raccoon leads us into a room. He takes off his um… shirt? And gets a ball. He starts explaining the rules.
"Now, I'll go over the rules. If you can take this ball from me, before the airship reaches its destination, you win. I believe that we're scheduled for an 8 am arrival? Well that still gives you 9 hours. You're free to attack me however you'd like. I won't touch you."
Gon: "Huh? That's too easy. You can't call that a game."
"Why not give it a try first?"
Killua: "We just have to take the ball?"
"Yes."
Killua: "Then, I'll go first."
"Go ahead."
