The sound of clicking and crunching resonated a few times, followed by a burst of sparks and a grating noise, and the elevator abruptly stabilized, ceasing its descent. However, the elevator was still at an angle, indicating that indeed one of the chains had broken, causing the elevator to tilt and become unstable.
Yet, this was not Ye Wudao's greatest concern. What worried him most was the possibility that if the other chains were also to break, he and Wang Yuyan would plummet to their doom alongside the elevator.
