After a harrowing ordeal, Ye Wudao finally reached the location of the pine tree, while Wu Tong, sitting atop the cliff, appeared limp and exhausted as though he himself had been the one at the bottom, not Ye Wudao.
Ye Wudao rested for a moment, took down the Mountain Cleaver from his back, and began to hack at the pine tree. Before long, he had chopped off a branch, which he then bound to his back along with the Mountain Cleaver, and climbed back up the precarious path. The return journey was much smoother, and without any further incidents, Ye Wudao soon made it back to the top of the cliff.
Wu Tong, who had been on tenterhooks the whole time, finally let out a sigh of relief when he saw Ye Wudao carefully remove the pine branch from his back along with the Mountain Cleaver.
