I had little rest after I had gotten Airc dinner and pain medicine before going to bed. Airc had decided to sleep on the floor next to my bunk bed. I had also noticed the others having trouble sleeping as well, especially Jamie. I'm sure it was due to my own cold aura seeping out due to my anger and her sharing bunk beds with me.
I sat up in bed and looked to the sleeping Airc who slept on the ground wrapped up in several blankets. I shook my head slightly and tossed the light blanket covering me off of my legs so I could check on the condition of my injured leg. I pulled my pants down enough to unwrap the bandages around my leg to have a look.
The injury was still red and irritated looking but it was clear it was healing. It was bruised all around the wound but from the coloring of the bruise it was healing nicely. I felt around the wound a bit and sighed silently before speaking.
"What are you staring at?" I turned my head to look at Airc who was sitting up looking at me. "I'm sorry…" He mumbled. I sighed, "for what? For shooting me? I could care less about it. If you are sorry for being the most annoying prisoner of war who refuses to stay locked up then you should do as a normal prisoner of war does and stay locked up."
I glared at him coldly as I said that and he only lowered his head not speaking. I shook my head and rewrapped my injury and pulled my pants back on fully. I then stood up and made my bed before looking around the tent seeing most of the others still trying to sleep while others were grumbling about how it was too early.
I noticed a few hugging their guns while half asleep and a few others sleeping with their knives in hand. I looked to the still looking down Airc and shook my head before I made my way out of the tent wanting to go find Captain Sean. I glanced back as I heard Airc saying he was coming as he noticed me heading out of the tent.
I walked limping feeling the burning pain from my leg seeming to be worse today than yesterday. I knew the burning pain wouldn't go away for a while. In comparison to the first time I had been shot which was before the accident it didn't really hurt. I did know it also was due to my pain tolerance being higher than before. As well as the fact my sense of pain was dulled due to the torcher I had suffered before.
I reached Captain Seans tent and walked in as I called out, "Captain Sean!"
I stopped dead in my tracks as I saw the captain naked looking like he was about to pull on some boxers. I stepped to the side just as Aric came in from following me. I looked at Captain Sean who seemed frozen staring at me and spoke calmly.
"Are you going to get dressed or stand there all day?" My voice was as cold as always.
Captain Sean blushed and quickly pulled on his clothes as he said, "fuck, can't you turn around."
I looked at him while glancing at the glaring Airc, "it ain't nothing I haven't seen before." Sean muttered a few curses before saying, "what do you want this early in the-"
"What do you mean it's nothing you haven't seen before? You've slept with other men?" Airc cut Sean off as He looked at me in both shock and anger.
I sighed looking at him, "I was a doctor in an emergency room." Airc blinked, "oh.. ok." He nodded before he frowned again, "wait you didn't answer my question. Have you slept with someone before?" His voice had concern and worry mixed in it.
I didn't answer him as I looked back at captain Sean who was getting the last of his buttons on his shirt. I looked at him and then looked at Lieutenant Jared who was sitting on his bed holding his button on shirt closed. He didn't seem to want to move other than staring at me and Airc. I was completely ignoring Airc who was staring at me with begging and questioning eyes.
I spoke, "I'm here to talk about when are the high ups are coming to pick him up." Sean looked at me and spoke, "they are on their way. I got word they'll be here in the next two days."
I nodded and looked at him, "ok. Also something has to be done about him in the meantime. I cannot continue babysitting this idiot. Me nor my squad can get any sleep."
Jared spoke before Sean could, "no one but you can keep him under control. Also he is too dangerous to not have you the strongest here to guard him." I glared at him, "I am injured"
Sean spoke, "I know… I wish it would be simple to lock him up properly but we can't keep him locked up. He escapes and goes to you. Maybe if you locked him up and stayed in the prison tent would make him stay?..."
I grumbled and looked at Airc who had looked away seeming as if he was refusing to acknowledge his part in any of this. I glared at him until he finally looked at me sheepishly.
I spoke, "why do you keep causing problems." Airc immediately spoke raising his head proudly, "I want to marry you! I am trying to win you over." I glared murderously at him, "go to hell. Just fucking behave."
Airc looks away, "but.. but then I wouldn't be able to be by your side…" I glared, "What does that matter?" Airc looks at me, "I wouldn't be able to win your heart over!"
I looked away from him and looked at captain Sean pointedly. Sean looked to Jared and they looked back at me and Airc. I could tell he was trying to think of something to help me.
After a long while he finally spoke, "er.. what about if he stayed in the prison cell during the nights and you guard him during the day? " Before I could answer Airc spoke, "no. I do not agree"
I glared at Airc, "why not?" Airc spoke, "I won't be by your side. And I want to be by your side, Kanami." I glared, "at night we sleep. I need sleep or I will kill you." I was being dead serious.
Being sleep deprived while with an annoying person all day made me want to kill him even more than I already did. I may have not needed much sleep to begin with but that little bit of sleep was good for me especially while injured.
Airc looks at me then looks down, "oh.. ok then.. I'll stay in the prison cell at night so you can get some sleep. I'll behave and stay put there all night. " He then looked up at me with determination in his amber eyes, "but I refuse to not be by your side during the day."
I scowled but nodded, "fine. I can at least work with that a bit."
I looked to Captain Sean who nodded. "I will make the necessary arrangement for tonight." I nodded, "good. Thanks captain."
I then headed out of the tent limping. I headed for the medic tent first. Airc followed behind me. I needed to clean and rebandage my injury.
