Chapter 4 - Seatmate

Third Person's Point of View

The first subject ended fastly and now Caroline is seated at the school cafeteria with a guy in front of her, holding a phone playing a game as they both talk to each other.

"Are you still bothered about not being able to fit in?" Terrence asked, staring at his girlfriend that paused from eating her pasta that was treated by him.

Caroline pouts. "Can I absent tomorrow?"

Terrence sighed. "Babe, we talked about this, didn't we?"

"But I don't have anyone to talk to." The girl complained acting like a child. To which Terrence found amusing since they were in public.

"Well, its just the first day of school. Who knows maybe you could have a lot of friends." He encouraged.

The girl smiled, a bit touched that Terrence made such effort to encourage her.

"I'll try harder then." She smiled.

"Do your best there okay?" The guy smied back in return. "Hurry up and finish the meal, class is about to resume." He added.

Caroline nooded and continue to eat that pasta as Terrence continues to play his game on the phone.

————

"Bye Babe!" Caroline lands a kiss on Terrence's cheeks before entering her classroom. Terrence eyed the girl that walked to Laura worriedly before proceeding to walk straight to his classroom.

"I hope she'll do fine."

Caroline stared at the door where Terrence stood and sigh feeling a bit lonely that he was nowhere to be found, the teacher came in. A young lady a bit shorter than her, long straight brunette hair with yellow eyes.

"Everybody form your lines outside." Her voice silenced the room that was originally loud due to Erika. and her friends' commotion.

"What's going on Miss?" Erika shamelessly asked.

The teacher looked at her as she prepared the class line.

"I'm arranging your seats dear." The teacher smiled as Caroline stared at the other people in class.

"This can't be happening." Sonia mumbled staring at the teacher with a bit of fear in her part.

————

"Alright, this will be your seat from now on. Anyone that tries to transfer seats is considered Absent."

Caroline eyed the person in front of her and the person beside her who looks at her in return and smiled sheepishly which she exchange with a small smile.

"This is nice. Sonia is sitting in front of me I have someone to lend me some answers." Caroline stated, eyeing Sonia who glance back and smiled.

"Oh... I might actually be glancing back for answers instead of sharing one." She chuckled. "Well, Cole can give us an answer or two, she's pretty smart."

The two of them chuckled, and Sonia then again faced front to listen as the teacher talked and Cole doing the same.

The teacher talked in front starting the lessons as soon as possible, but Caroline was preoccupied on how to open a talk with Cole that was sitting a seat apart of her. Beside her, is one of the members of the seminarian named Jasper that was quite friendly and entertaining to talk to which Cole and Caroline found fun to befriend.

Soon, class ended with a smile on Caroline's face. Even though she hasn't found a way to befriend Cole and some other people that caught her interest she still had made a friend. She walked to Laura with a smile on her face still visible that Laura got off her dazed state just to thought of what's wrong with Caroline.

"Did something great happened?" Caroline stared at Laura and thought that it was the first time she had talk since her dazed state yesterday.

"What is wrong with you?" Caroline asked back. The girl flinched still eyeing the girl but her questioning gaze was replaced by panic and worry. She then looked behind the girl, her gold eyes shimmering in both panic and worry.

"Okay, I'll tell you." Laura sigh in frustration slightly ruffling her red hair in process. "Someone asked me out."

Caroline gasped covering her mouth, as she squealed in both anticipation and intrigued.

"Who?!" She asked, excitement all visible in her voice. Putting down the bag she carries to the the vacant chair in front of her and excitedly sat down to it as she turn her head to look around. She then glance back at the red head sitting beside her.

"Is it someone from this class?" Laura blushed. Indicating that it was someone from the class which cause Caroline to once again scan the room, her pink midback hair bouncing in process. "Who is it?!" She shrieked.

Laura once again panicked, finding an attempt to make Caroline lower her voice or the guy might hear them. As she was about to tell her the girl of who the guy was, a guy came and took a seat next to Laura.

"Hey Laura." He greeted, adjusting the glasses he holds. "How are you?"

Caroline eyed the guy. Clean and fixed brunette hair, blue eyes covered with a black frame round glasses that didn't make him look like a nerd, and instead seems to match with the way he carries it. Caroline know the guy for he is one of the person that was known by most of the teachers in school.

"Hi Arthur." Laura shyly replied.

Caroline instantly knew what was going on, so in order for them to know each other more she excused herself to go to Terrence that was already waiting for her outside the door. Instantly rushing to Terrence's side clinging to his arms Caroline greeted his boyfriend with her usual sweet smile. Terrence stared at his girlfriend, a bit relieved to see the girl now in better condition that the last time they both had a talk.

"So, how's class and fitting in?" Terrence asked.

"I made a friend!" Caroline said cheerfully dragging her boyfriend to the school cafeteria for lunch.

"Oh, that's very nice." Terrence stated ruffling the girls pink locks in process. "Anything interesting you would like to share other than that?"

All throughout the lunch break Caroline explained to Terrence that during General Mathematics, the teacher arrange a seat and she was seated a seat away from Cole and made a friend named Jasper. And during Oral communication, she was seated in front of Rianne and Sonia which was a bit relieving to her part.

Upon returning to her room just after kissing her boyfriend goodbye, Caroline noticed two girls from the different class eating with the short girl that was sitting behind Cole, they were in a deep conversation that Caroline didn't bother listening. She then spotted Erika eating lunch with her friends Claire and Thalia with Rianne and Merideth being awkwardly left behind by the three girls that was talking about their love life. She was about to stop it with the scanning but her purple eyes locked on with Sonia's green ones that was eating lunch with Cole and Yara.

Upon locking at each others' eyes, Sonia smiled and waved slightly at the girl. Caroline only smiled and proceeded to walk to Laura that was already having a small conversation with Arthur.

————

Sonia scan the group she has right now. When the next subject arrive she asked for them to form a small circle. for them to have an activity and among all the people inside the group where Sonia belong, the only person she know is her gay friend from her previous circle which is Senti. She then stared at the girl beside her doodling. Her caramel curly hair covering half of her face and her grey colored eyes.

Sonia decided to be friendly and tap the girl on her shoulder causing her to  divert her attention to the blonde girl and tilt her head in confusion.

"Hi! I'm Sonia!" She cheerfully introduced without any hint of embarrassment or hesitation in her.

The action caused the girl to be a bit taken aback by how bold Sonia can be and smiled lightly.

"I'm Dianne."

"What are you doodling?" Sonia scooted closer to the girl.

"Oh, its just a scribble." Dianne answered, amused at how Sonia acts.

The two of them continued talking and taking until they both found themselves closer and less awkward than before.

Soon, classes ended with Sonia waving at the people from the class walking out of the door to go home and Dianne watching her from the background as she also gave a small wave to the girl that smiled brightly at her in return.
