To see a rainbow, one must ensure through a rain, light or harsh, in order to see one. It time, to fulfill my role, as a vessel of Rika-chan's memories of Yuuma. But I don't want her to leave this world with her forgetting her love towards Yuuma-kun. With that, perhaps I'll buy her time to figure out her trial, with me gone, she will start to think about the trials seriously.
I raised my head to gaze upon the sky. The sun had set, perhaps the sky was ever this beautiful. I should appreciate things even more while I was moving around freely... My consciousness started fading, leaving me standing like this as if I'm sleeping.
...
I entered Rinka-chan's house, she looked at me from the staircase, and flickers her fingers, signalling me to come over. I went over to her. She led me up to her bedroom. Wait. What?
"Yuuma, we have not much time left is it?" She asked in a gentle voice. I gulped, for those who still not understand my situation, I'm in front of my girlfriend wearing cute pajamas, who is also inviting me into her bedroom. What are we going to do now?!
"Yes, we still have a little time before this world collapses." I said.
"Then... This way..." With that cute voice of hers, she pulled me into her room. My heart wasn't prepared for this. What if she is not trying to do that? It will be very embarrassing. I should play innocent for the time being.
Rinka-chan locked the door. The clacking sound of the door locking astonished me. Is is going to be that? I'm close to my limits...
"Yuuma, can you stay with me tonight..?" Rinka-chan said, with her soft and tender looking lips. I walked towards her, and put my hands on her face. She looked away, perhaps being embarrassed.
I lifted her chin and kissed her. It's my first ever kiss. Perhaps my last one as well. I pushed her onto her bed. She looked defenseless. I leaned my head towards her ears and whispered.
"Being so defenseless in front of a man like this, how far did you want to go tonight?" I whispered.
"Wherever far you want..." She said in a weak voice. I stood up, and apologised.
"Wait, why were you apologising?" Rinka-chan asked while being flustered.
"We won't do it, if you feel like not doing it." I said.
With her permission, I touched her body, she looked flustered at first, it's her first time doing this, of course, it's my first time too. We started kissing, and lies on Rinka-chan's bed. It was the beginning where she shows me her body. My body is filled with excitement, perhaps it's what men were programmed to do when they saw a woman like this.
...
We ended up doing it, it felt great. Rinka-chan felt happy too. In the end we slept in the same bed. Until the next morning. It's morning, I woke up to see Rinka-chan next to me, with her eyes glued on me. How long did she watched me sleeping? It doesn't matter. I caressed her face, the girl I'm in love with is right in front of me. Perhaps at the moment I gave into the temptations, I forgot my role. It's today, where Ryutenji-san said that zombies will start to swarm Akari. I wonder what he meant by falling...? Does that mean that he decided to sacrifice himself? No... That couldn't be it. I'm worried, Rinka-chan touched my back, her hands were so soft that it tickles me. I put on my clothes and excused myself.
I left the house to look around, the path that he took when he left last night. He's there, standing, motionless. Is he deactivated? This is the first time I have seen a deactivated person. I touched him, and he started moving.
"Oh Yuuma-kun, how was last night?" Ryutenji-san asked casually. I felt that my face gradually turned red, I'm really embarrassed.
"Well... I..." I tried to say something, but I stuttered.
"I think I had a rough idea about what you did." Ryutenji-san chuckled.
"Wouldn't you be angry of me because of what I did?" I asked, I felt guilty for doing what I did in the past few days.
"I wouldn't. Since if I fall, you'll continue to assume my role. That time you will understand what is it like to feel devoted to your own role. You have no roles to play yet, that is why I told you to enjoy yourself." Ryutenji-san said. I shuddered, I thought my role was to simply lead Rinka-chan to complete her trials, but it was simply a temporary freedom given to me, to understand the circumstances.
"Rika-chan should be following you, this is what I wanted. Follow me." Ryutenji-san said. I turn to my back, noticing that Rinka-chan is actually following me. I picked up my pace and followed Ryutenji-san. We reached the station, Ryutenji-san walked towards the zombies. I was surprised, did he really intend to let the zombies take him? Rinka-chan arrived, shouted at Ryutenji-san.
"Ryutenji, what were you thinking that you were doing?!" Rinka-chan said.
"Behold, the climax of your story, before descending into an ending!" Ryutenji-san said, no, even I could tell that that's a bad ending. A zombie grabbed him, and dragged him down and more of them began swarming over him. Is it the end of Ryutenji-san...?
It's too dangerous to remain here, if I were to assume Ryutenji-san's role, that means I'm not supposed to die here. I grabbed Rinka-chan's hand and began running. In Touna, there is a place where we wouldn't get disturbed at all, which is the Touna's shrine, the shrine of the Rain Goddess herself! Running approximately three kilometres is insane, I borrowed a bike and put her on the back. I rode all the way to the shrine, perhaps it's Ryutenji-san's memories being transferred to me, my head felt a bit wobbly, but I could not afford to fall here.
"Rinka-chan, are you fine?" I asked. Even she held tight, she is already unconscious. I stopped on a slope, since it would be dangerous for her to stay like this.
"Wh... What am I doing here...?" Rinka-chan said. She slowly regained her consciousness.
"Did you feel better?" I asked, handing her a water bottle I got from a convenience store on the way here.
"Who are you?" She asked. I astonished, what...? Did she forgot about Yuuma as Ryutenji-san mentioned?
"It's me, Yuuma..." I said. She looked like she is in fear. An information suddenly flashed over in my mind. I came to understand how exactly Rinka-chan have to do in order to complete her trial... And her name is not Rinka-chan... It's Rika... My head hurts...
"Hey... You, are you okay...?" Rika-chan approached me, with a worried face. Is it because there is a part of me who is against towards Ryutenji-san's role...? No, I have to take responsibility on this... I stood up, enduring the pain and grabbed Rika-chan's shoulder.
"Listen, I'm not the Yuuma you knew. I'm an impostor, push me away, you'll be able to leave this collapsing world!" I was desperate, but she didn't show any slight reaction at all.
"Who's Yuuma?" She said. Are you kidding me? Ryutenji-san! What were you thinking?! I calmed down, there should be a way around. I asked her to follow me, perhaps asking the help of the goddess, I wouldn't know. But she will be safe from there.
Eventually, we reached the shrine. We paid our respects to the shrine and wished for knowledge to return Rika-chan back to her world. She is now a clueless girl who somehow just lost her memories. Ryutenji-san was serious about this. We stayed in the empty shrine for several days. Day by day, I often received information randomly from Ryutenji-san's memories. On this day, which should be the final day since every other people from the other world had completed their trials had left the world, there weren't any people out there rather than just zombies. The world will slowly collapse, what will happen to Rika-chan?
She not only have to reject me, at the same time, she must have some kind of attachment towards me. which was the original setting of the trial. I guess we were back to square one. Now I have to make her feel something about me, I'm only working to end this world, I have no time to act selfish anymore. I took her out to look at the scenery, she seems to be enjoying it. All the tension that I had in the past few days, were all relieved in this moment. She grabbed my hand, I had no more reason to hold tight to it... I shrugged off her hand, she gasped. I acted cold, hoping it would work.
"Yuuma... Why...?" She said. I quickly turned around. Rika-chan is glowing, is that because she finally fulfilled her trial? My consciousness started to fade... With my remaining time that I never know how long it was, I prayed for her safety. May she find happiness again back in her original world.
"May you find the rainbow as promised... After the rain."
