I stared back at him as I waited for him to say something, anything at all. I wanted him to question me as to where I was getting with my words, for I was deliberately keeping them ambiguous.
It wasn't hard for me to conclude from the way he was scratching the back of his head meekly that he knew I would never buy his words. He wasn't dumb enough to think that I would buy his words.
No matter how powerful an angel was, he or she would never be able to do a locator spell. That was purely a witch's forte. Even I wasn't able to pull that off despite my numerous attempts over the decades.
"Don't you want to know about my light bulb?" I repeated my question again when I didn't hear a response even after a while. I was starting to get impatient with his lack of response.
"What about it?"
He finally bothered to speak up and provided me with a response. I was more than elated by his words as our little conversation was heading in exactly the way I wanted it to proceed.
"I came out of my dorm room in the middle of the night and stood by the railing right before my door as my thoughts cleared up. The more I stared at the tall trees standing proudly next to the dormitory, the brighter my light bulb became." I answered him in slightly clearer words and waited for him to speak up once again.
"What about the trees?" He gave me a quizzical look despite the clearness in his orbs which suggested something else. He was starting to understand where I was going with my words. The guilt shaded expression on his face was enough for me to tell that.
"That if someone manages to climb one of them, he could easily have a good view of my dorm room. But then again, no sane person would do it." I took a brief pause as my scrutinizing gaze lingered over his face. I didn't want to miss a single fluctuation in his expressions.
"Unless, he wanted to make sure that his little parcel had found its way to the right person." I added while squinting my eyes. The smirk tugging at the corners of my lips was enough to convey the sarcasm underlying my innocent words.
"Did you really have to run your brain after a healing concoction?" He shook his head in helplessness, but didn't deny my accusations either.
"I have a problem. I need to have an answer for everything, or else my mind would not let me be at peace." I shrugged my shoulders as if it wasn't a big deal. For me, it actually wasn't. I barely used to sleep at night for a little while without having anything on my mind, just so that my body can rest.
"You sacrificed your sleep for an answer." He looked at me as if he was hearing the most atrocious thing.
Giving the man across me a shrug, I continued with my inquiry. "But the main question is, how did you find out my dorm room?"
"I-I..." He trailed off his words.
I could tell that he was contemplating his next words. It was all too obvious as his expressions gave his thoughts away.
"You what? Followed me back to the dorms?" I finished his words for him.
On my way back to the dorms the previous day, I kept feeling that someone was watching me. But every time I turned around to confirm my suspicions, my eyes found no one. I blamed it on my paranoia, but who knew it wasn't.
Only by midnight was I able to connect the dots and realize how Aden had managed to locate my dorm room and drop the package. Moreover, it would have been absurd of him to leave without making sure that the parcel had found its way to me.
"You sure have a sharp mind." He commented as he covered the distance between us. His steps came to a stop right before me before he continued.
"But why did you bring me here? We could have talked about it even on campus."
"I know!" I exclaimed. "But I thought that being at the crime site itself might help our stalker accept the crime he was guilty of." I couldn't help myself but tease him more after seeing his guilt-ridden face.
"Crime site?" He spoke up after hearing my remarks and passed me a quizzical look. I could tell that he still hadn't paid any attention to our surroundings. But was he really that lost in our dialogue that he failed to notice where he was standing?
"Look on your right, Mister." I tilted my head towards my left and spoke.
Throwing one more questioning gaze in my direction, he shifted his attention in the direction I was pointing in.
The quizzical look on his face was overshadowed by a baffled one as he stared at the back side of the girls' dormitories. I doubted that the man had any trouble in recognizing his surroundings as he had made a trip to the place not too long ago.
"You!" He turned his attention back to me and shook his head. I could see the surprise in his eyes which he was trying to keep hidden from me as he casted his eyes down, his smooth eyelids covering those oceanic blue orbs of his.
"You really are something, little foxy!" He added as he looked up at me and stepped closer.
I don't know why, but his actions made my body react on its own and my mind forced me to take a step back. My actions only resulted in my head making an impact with the tree trunk behind me.
"Ouch!" A yelp made its way out of my threat which pulled me out of my stupor. At the same time, it was enough to pull him out of his trance as well.
"Are you okay?" He spoke up, his words laced with concern.
