Chapter 46 - Turn The Tables

~•Aden•~

"I doubt you have a thing for the nurse there."

Her words made their way into my ears and I couldn't help but stop in my tracks. Did she just accuse me of having feelings for the nurse?

"What did you say?" I asked her as I was having a hard time believing my ears. How dare she accuse me of something so preposterous? Did she really take me as someone who'd do that?

"I think you like our nurse." She repeated the words from earlier, but this time she eliminated the word doubt from her sentence.

"And how exactly did you come to that conclusion?" I gritted through my clenched jaw. I wondered why I was taking her words so seriously when there was a high chance of it being a joke. She might have been just teasing me, but her expressions said something else as her face was devoid of any.

"Just a hunch!" She exclaimed as the corners of her lips quirked up slightly.

"So are you labelling me as a lover boy? Her lover boy specifically?" I moved my arm up which was resting around her lower back and draped it over her shoulders as I pulled her closer. "That's a really serious accusation, little foxy."

"With the way you keep dragging me to the sick room, I doubt that my words can fall under some accusations." She looked up at me as she began to walk.

I couldn't help but follow the suite as my arm was still locked in place around her shoulders.

"Have you ever thought of it the other way around?" I muttered under my breath as we continued to walk through the trees following the same path we tracked down earlier.

I was wondering where she was taking me, but if I had any idea that it was to call my actions out from the previous day then I wouldn't have accepted her offer for a stroll. It would have been much better to discuss the same boring game plans with my mates.

But I had to give it to her that the little foxy was smart for sure. For how she was able to derive a whole scenario about me using her brain juice. She left me with no choice but to go with the flow and plead guilty.

Truth to be told I haven't stepped inside the girls' dormitory for even once despite the fact that my girlfriend had a room of her own there. I was never comfortable with sneaking my way around the corridors. It was the first time that I did something of the sort, and that too for the sake of a girl.

"What other way around?" Her mellow voice entered my ears and I couldn't help but smile. It was my time to take revenge, and she was walking right into my trap. It was her time to be at a loss of words.

"I don't usually go to the sick room even if I am the one who's injured. I just use the same concoction I gave you yesterday. So, if it's you whom I keep dragging to the sick room then it just shows how much I care for you." I mumbled as the corners of my lips curled upwards.

Shifting my gaze to the top of her head, I waited for her response. I appreciated the height difference between us. She was neither too tall for me, nor too short. Using her shoulders as a support for my arm was much more comfortable.

"What do you mean?" She finally spoke up after a while. We were now tracking down the mud trail heading towards the entrance.

"I mean that it cannot be the nurse I have feelings for. It has to be you," I let out a joyful response as I kept my gaze fixed on the crown of her head while fighting the urge to ruffle her hair. I knew how much girls hated it. I remembered dealing with a tantrum which lasted for a couple of days when I messed Dana's hair for the first time. It was the last time as well.

"Ha, ha, ha!" She let out a mocking laugh in response to my words. I was clearly not happy with the outcome as it wasn't the reaction which I was clearly expecting from her. Wasn't she supposed to act a little shy and meek after hearing such words from a man?

"Hey!" I spoke up in my defense. I needed to turn the tables as soon as I could. I didn't have much time left as I could see the yellow and white barricade tape at a distance of a couple of feet away from us.

"What?" She looked up at me for a couple of seconds before turning her face away from me.

"I am not joking. Why would I have feelings for the nurse when it's only you with whom I even step inside that room? It reeks of disinfectant, and I am particularly not fond of it." I added to which she just shook her head.

I was about to continue with my words when my eyes landed on my arm which was resting over her shoulders. My thoughts drifted off their track as a devilish idea popped into my mind.

I stopped in my tracks and used a little force to pull her to a stop as well.

"Why did you stop?" She turned her head around to face me and questioned my actions.

My hand slid down from her shoulder to her waist and rested in the dip of her lower back. Using some force, I pulled her towards me wrapping my other arm around her waist in the process.

"What are the odds of me having some feelings towards the nurse when I just hover around you just like a bee hovers over her favorite flower?" The corners of my lips curled upwards in a playful smirk as I stared back into her glistening orbs. The shock canoodling her face was too evident to ignore.
